Sunday Stash Report, May 3, 2020

Today Blogger has us all with a new format for creating, editing, posting, etc.  It has the same functions as before it appears.  Does look different in its presentation to the user.  I have Unity QA Part 3 complete.  Yes I am a bit behind...
It took me the weekend to finish all the stars that make up Part 3.  I have to sew them together and add the outer sashing that Bonnie Hunter has us adding at the conclusion of each part after the pieced sections.  I started cutting out Part 4.  My  stash is getting weak of medium blues...Mom has some on their way from her stash.  Part 6 goes live tomorrow.  It will be nice to catch up if that is possible.  I think their are eight parts for this quilt along.
Beware! It's Halloween! BOM for May arrived.  Don't tell the folks at Midway Wool Company that I have yet to get started.
Kwenched arrived from Kerry.  Oh my Kerry did such an awesome job with the quilting.  It took quite a bit of back and forth to come up with all the designs she used, but every bit worth it.  I have it all ready to bind.  Nothing changes in the stash count this week.

Kwenched is all done except the quilting.  Sorry for the San Diego sunshine :)!  This one by Nancy Rink called Bountiful has been fun for me.  It has both the piecing and the applique elements combined.  My next 2019 UFO has both again, but a tad bit smaller than Bountiful.  I will be sending this off to Kerry for some lovely quilting just after the crazy Holiday "sending" has calmed down.

I finished Sunshine Quilt Guild UFO Challenge #7 too.  This is the third to finish of the Challenge that has seven months of quilts to be finished.  I found a back for this one and will do stitch in the ditch quilting.

Used this week:  8.75 yards
Used YTD:  142.25 yards
Purchased this week:  0 yards
Purchased YTD:  68 yards
Net used in 2019:  74.25 yards

So excited to have a change this week in my report.  I will claim the completion of Kwenched and the back along with the binding of #7.  Since I am busy with Bonnie Hunters Frolic (my Kavort) likely this will be the last change for 2019.  All stats go to zero on January 1, 2020.  Tomorrow I will give you a glimpse of the next 2019 UFO and my progress on Kavort.  Hope you have time to sew and Merry Christmas!

Sunday Stash Report, December 15, 2019

Today I finished the applique on Kwenched (Bountiful by Nancy Rink).  I put it up on my Design Wall, but yet to put it together into one piece.  I plan to look at it without the change of fabrics in the outside corners; just to see what it looks like.

Can't quite claim a completion...numbers stay the same for one more week!

I have been working on Kwenched (Bountiful).  This one has made it to just one piece of applique x2 to sew into place.  There is the pink fabric you see in the berries that goes into the middle of the big tulips.
This one isn't too far behind.  It needs the tulip outsides sewn x2 into place.
These two are at the same spot.  Once the first two are done they are next for hand sewing.

My friend Sue shared a great paper piecing free pattern website Fandom Stitches.  The link takes you to Christmas.  You can navigate to Halloween or explore on your own.  These are some pretty large blocks which will make it easy.

Tomorrow night is the Sunshine Quilt Guild Holiday Party.  It is a potluck affair and games that the organizers dream up.  Anxious to attend this fun event.  So what's going on in your sewing?

Sunday Stash Report, December 8, 2019

Introducing Kardinal just finished entirely!  I like how all my orphan neutral strips fit into the busy block (Sawtooth Flutter) created by Bonnie Hunter.  Turns out Bonnie hadn't thought further on a setting for the project so I did.  I like the way it turned out.  It will be of interest to me if Bonnie ever does come up with a setting.

Every Quiltvillian is busy working on Frolic.  Part 1 and Part 2 are released now.  I have the pieces cut for both parts.  My project will be called Kavort.  It is a 2020 UFO.  Need time to sew =^.^=

Here are my fabrics so far.  The aqua will be the last of the fabrics to pull from stash.

I have been working on Kwenched in the evenings.  I have the first of four applique units done.  Return tomorrow for progress on Kwenched.  Nothing changes my stats this week.

Kurling is all done...ready for displaying this holiday season.  I see it possible to get into more of this type of sewing.  Yes right now I do a little bit of grumbling as I stitch the new frontier, but it's looking better and better with each project.  Kurling is a 2019 UFO that is now marked as DONE!

Kwenched is coming along nicely too.  I stepped back after gluing down several of the next fabrics to applique.  There was binding to do and you know how much I enjoy binding.  My thumb is showing the abuse =^.^=  Kwenched is another 2019 UFO that I would like to see in the DONE category.
As for Frolic's Clue #1.  My project will be called KavortKavort starts my 2020 UFO List!.  Does it count that I pulled from stash the blues and printed out the instructions?  There is already some catching up to do!
Apparently Maverick knew about this before I did.  I learned that I was to become a first time Great Aunt from Tiffany and Matt just this past weekend.  Congratulations to you both and Maverick of course!

Are you getting ready?  My cookie cutter pilgrims are and probably Mimi's for our dinner.  No family this year at my home, but thanks to Mimi's there will be leftovers!  Besides I will be getting ready for Frolic and the very first clue on Friday.

So let me remind you of the applique units that I have been working on for Bountiful.  I prep'd all the taupe fabric units.  All are being appliqued down first.
These are the first two blocks with applique done.
The vine portion has been stitched, but the leaf units are just with glue.
The other project that I am eager to finish, one with a due date, has been pinned.  This is my Sunshine UFO Challenge #4.  I will be practicing my stitch in the ditch.  Hope you are having fun this week as you get ready for your Thanksgiving Dinner and maybe Frolic Clue #1.

Sunday Stash Report, November 24, 2019

This is Sunshine UFO Challenge #4 that is to be finished before the next meeting.  Happily I am well ahead of schedule.  I sewed with Kathy and Kathy at Kathy's home yesterday.  I headed out for my second time to the monthly 3rd Saturday Sunshine Quilt Guild Sew In.  It was in part set for getting cuddle quilts sewn.
There were gifts for attending.  Selecting something from a basket of goodies and one large piece of fabric.  The larger piece will become a back for a charity quilt that will be made in the future.  I plan to use the FQs myself :)
Moving along on the applique for Bountiful (not yet named).  This is the first of four identical applique sections.  This is it for this fabric color.  There is more to prep in the other fabrics which there are four before they can be sewn in place.  In the back are the next three sections with the first vine in place and ready for stitching.

During the week the holiday table runners were received by Mom, Karen and Rita.  All were thrilled with their early gifts.  I think Rita is already decorating!

My special order of Autumn Love templates arrive at Memory Lane.  Trying to fit my visit there to pick them up along with a new square ruler and some Pelon my Mom uses to make purses.  I don't know if that trip can fit in until Friday.  A trip to Jennifer's (or her to my place) will need to fit in next week too.  The last of the craft items arrives on Tuesday from Kerry.  The craft fair is December 7 and 8 so time is important to have them in Jennifer's hands.  Time for me to get back to my happy place in the sewing room =^.^=

Nothing changes with my stash, probably won't for awhile.  The next one to claim used is Bountiful.  Enjoy your week ahead.

Bountiful applique!  I have the freezer paper papers traced and ready to apply to fabrics.  Starting with the lower right corner fabric.  The two stems start the applique, so they will be first.
On the left is the applique placement and on the right what it should look like when done.
Here are all the pieces temporarily fused down with the freezer paper.  I use both by the roll and by the sheet for the freezer paper.  The sheets are a bit easier to manage, but both work equally as well.  Trimming these units down to a width about 1/8" from the template then liquid starch and a good press between the Teflon sheet will make the edges crisp.
The background fabric is laid over the applique template on a light box and finally the prepared units find their place.
Here is the first applique to stitch.  My thread color is not what I would want, but I will hide the stitches such that it will not show.  Hopefully I will have a lot more to share with the next blog post on Sunday.

Have a wonderful week.   =^.^=

Happy Veterans Day

I have all the hand stitching of the wool done, but didn't have time to snap a photo.  What is left for an evening after Tuesday night is the facial features and the bow that attaches the star to the cat's tail.  I'm very pleased with my hand work on Fall Whiskers.
Bountiful is the next 2019 UFO to tackle.  These are the fabrics that I'll be using along with a photo of the pattern.
I was able to cut it all out and stitch up the flying geese that will make up the starts that are all over this design.  I will be trimming them during the week after Fall Whiskers is complete.

Tuesday evening is the monthly meeting of Sunshine Quilt Guild.  I'm looking forward to Jean Impey's presentation and all the other activities that will make up the November meeting of the guild.

Karol
Krazy Khristmas Konifer for Rita
Krazy Khristmas Konifer for Mom
Krazy Khristmas Konifer for Karen
These are all 2019 UFO finishes.  Fall Whiskers is also a 2019 UFO that will finish in time.  Bountiful that you will see tomorrow is yet another that needs finishing in 2019.  Golly, there are still more to finish...looking tough now that we are half way into November and Bonnie Hunter's Frolic starting up in just a couple of weeks!
This is the piece work in cotton fabrics for Fall Whiskers.  As mentioned previously this comes from a kit.  I would have chosen a brighter green print for the piece, but the center with the cat, pumpkin, moon, and star are the "stars of the show".
The wool is cut and fused in place.  I will be working on the hand stitching during the football games today.

Nothing changes this week =^.^=
