This one is complete except for the label that will go on later today.  It is the Sunshine Cuddle Quilt Kit project for either January or February depending on what works best.  The binding really worked well for mine.  Tanya, the Cuddle Quilt Coordinator, has made an additional amount of kits to add to the eight I already made so there should be plenty to go around.

Sorry for the angle of this photo.  O Say...Can You Sew! is a big project.  I have the top all together now.  I will put solid 6" borders on it to seal in those cute little stars in the sashing.  This quilt should finish at 83" by 103".  Need a name for those interested in helping me out; keep the "K" :)  I like a 108" backing from Blank Quilting.  It is Starlet a small star tonal in white.  I also plan to get enough for the borders.  Next post I'll show you the back of this big project; you will see why it took so long to get it together.  Now on to the commissioned baby quilt =^.^=

Hope your last week of 2022 is calm before 2023 kicks in!

Sunday Stash Report, December 25, 2022

Have you found everything under the tree?  It is a very bright, beautiful day in San Diego.  We have wished our families a Merry Christmas and shared a few gifts.  Kind of a quiet holiday this year.

Part Five of #Chilhowie came together easily enough.  I may have to be making these blocks over with the fabric positioned a little different.  I had hoped the block would be more emerald, but it is reading more orange instead.  I only made three block sets so I'm not too upset that it didn't turn out as I had hoped.  I will try again now that I know how it is going to come together.  Those orange squares in the middle will need to be emerald!

Part Four is cut and waiting time under the needle.  I have been focusing on O Say...Can You Sew!  Looks like I'll start off 2023 with a large amount of fabric used instead of finishing 2022 with a bang =^.^=

I'll give you a sneak peak at the baby quilt with just one of the six characters.  Hope your day is full of joy!

I haven't started on this project yet.  It is my Sunshine BOM WIN from December's meeting.  This one arrived in the mail to add to the others.  It will be one wild project with all the bright colors everyone used.  I am still working on O Say...Can You Sew!  There sure are a lot of pieces to the sashing and there is a lot of sashing too.

Hope this week isn't too hectic for you with less than a week before Christmas =^.^=

I was lucky enough to win Sunshine's Block of the Month this week.  There are some who will be giving me there's at a later date, but a pretty good win of the Grandma Mae's Economy Block.  There sure are a lot of colors so expect a colorful project when I can get these together.

Kerry is in town, we exchanged Christmas gifts on Friday when we spent a good portion of the day together.  She knows I have been working towards the red truck theme in my home for Christmas decorating and look what she gifted me!  A big smile crossed my face when I opened the gift.  The two FQs are also special as they are Holiday themed cat fabrics.  I have been spending in Hobby Lobby of late, so you see a gift card for me to enjoy a purchase on her!

Nothing to change the numbers this week.  With only one more Stash Report in 2022...I doubt there will be a change.  I will be trying though with O Say...Can You Sew!

I'm tardy on Part Four.  Just when I had caught up!  Holiday season, this, that, and the other are getting in the way from my sewing =^.^=.  I will be preparing two baskets for the live auction at Sunshine Quilters December meeting that is tomorrow night.  One has a theme of red and silver; the other is gold.  Both are filled to the brim with sewing notions along with one Holiday item.  I hope they both bring in lots of green for the guild's bank.

What's on my design wall this week is still O Say...Can You Sew!  I've been working here and there with the sashing units.  There are a lot of them all needing 1" units sewn in place diagonally then flipped.  Each corner of the 1 1/2" sashing.  The sashing units then come together to make an Ohio Star.  This project is so large I can't even get all of the blocks on my design wall at one time.  If you look closely you can see the sashing units I am trying to explain.

I hope you are having a super week...get that sewing time in when you can...such a great stress reducer for us quilters!

I have been busy with Bonnie Hunter's #Chilhowie Winter Mystery.  I am not making the full project as of yet.  The colors were changed a bit and I want to make sure it will pass the test.  Above is Part Three.  I will let you in on a little secret...I made these first with orange where the green is.  It dawned on me that the mistake had been made when I started on the last pair of eight unit.  Orange called out in the Bonnie Hunter colors is where my color changed to green.  Out came my seam ripper...urgh.  I have to really pay attention because my color changes are so slight it is easy to mess up =^.^=

This is Part Two.  I messed this one up too.  I didn't get to stitching the square units that you see in green, but I cut out enough in orange.  Orange called out in the Bonnie Hunter colors is where my color changed to green.  Caught the mistake before the seam ripper had to come out!

Part One was done correctly from the beginning, probably because I didn't have Aqua in the project bin.  Aqua called out in the Bonnie Hunter colors is where my color changed to orange.

You would think I'd learn a lesson about my changes in color choices by Part Three!  I will be going slower with cutting and sewing for Part Four that is released on Friday.  Friday is the day each of the parts is released and will continue like that until around New Years.  Are you ready to think we are just weeks away from 2023?

Nothing changes my stash this week.  I am hoping to get O Say...Can You Sew done before the end of the year.  Don't know of any other "Big Used" projects that will finish or anywhere even close.  Have fun in the coming days with all the parties you are likely to attend.  My next one is later this afternoon.  Cheers!

Fabrics for #Chilhowie.  The neutrals are on the ivory side, the green takes the place of the orange, the purple is the purple, and the orange takes the place of the aqua.  I hope the oranges capture the colors of a sunset well enough.  Chilhowie is the Bonnie Hunter Winter Mystery this year.  I am always happy with her color selection and moving the green to the color (orange) used the most in the Mystery isn't too much of a stretch.  Also replacing the aqua with the orange that is used the least in the Mystery.  I plan to play along with the part releases each week.  I do need to catch up a bit before Friday =^.^=  I won't be making nearly the quantity of units until I know that I like my changes.

These are the fabrics for Part 1

These are the fabrics for Part 2

I am excited to get this project under the needle.  If you want to learn more about the mystery head over to Quiltville and look for the tab marked Chilhowie Mystery!  There are several holiday events this week that I will need to prepare for.  The first is a potluck on Thursday and the second on Friday is a work cocktail and plated dinner celebrating five-year increments of company anniversaries.  I am certain to be one of the large anniversaries with 35 years.

Sunday Stash Report, November 4, 2022

I've been working on the sashing for O Say...Can You Sew! over the week.  If you look you can see some of the sashing filling up the spaces between the blocks.

This is what each of the units look like.  The pile of neutral strips combined with the 1" units in the bowl make the sashing that when added with the 1 1/2" squares just above the cutter make a star.  This is going to take some time for certain.  There are two more rows of blocks that won't fit on the Design Wall to add to this beauty.

I spent the day with Sunshine Quilt Guild Members at Summer's Past Craft Fair today.  We did really well with all the fun items that Members made for the event.  I'm told that we brought back a whole lot less than what was taken.  Success!

Nothing changes my numbers this week.  Come again and visit tomorrow and you will see what I have cooking besides O Say...Can You Sew!  Enjoy your week ahead.
