I mentioned that I was again out of fabric to complete Michigan.  Mistletoe has been waiting for me so I'm back at it.  Above is the center unit.  It will get filled in with applique.
These were the pieces coming together.

I needed 20 of the Ohio Stars to make up the 100 required for the project.  These will make up that difference.

The evening had me pulling the paper and marking the center line across four of each set (there are eight in each set).  This will end up giving me two of each variety of Ohio Star.

Next came the start of the applique that I will be using.  I really hope the Avery label paper will be as good during the hand sewing as it is for the prep.  A few circles in red and I can get started on the center applique.

Today through Wednesday Stitchin' Heaven has all of their Laundry Basket Quilts fabrics on sale for $2.00 off per yard.  What better time to take advantage of backs for Michigan and Mistletoe?

Hope your week is all you want it to be =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, June 27, 2021

Seems like for this project that I am doing a lot of waiting on fabric.  I thought there might be enough of the inner border fabric to get around the center, but of course not!  I have 30" and I need 68 1/2".  Kerry is coming to my rescue =^.^=  In the mean time I'll move back to Mistletoe.

During the week Mom surprised me with a few fabrics she picked up at her guild's end of the year stash sale.  She found a couple of good ones for me.

I also got a  nice gift that will see a lot of use in as long as the corners will hold up with all the use it will get.  I have found that the Creative Grids rulers are best for me.  I like how they grip the fabric.

So another week goes by and no finish.  At least I don't have any add since my fabrics were gifts.  Wishing you a good last week of June.  Half the year is gone...imagine that!

I am back to working on Michigan (Laundry Basket Quilts Mystery Quilt 2021).  It might not look much different than you last saw, but the blocks are now sewn into rows.  Rows will be next.

There are some piecing of more blocks to be done.  I finished the four corner units.  68 units to piece will finish the piece work.  This is the part my needle is working hard on =^.^=

Next up after the center top has the rows sewn together will be a solid neutral 4 1/2" first border.  This is where all the applique will go.  I am going to try out a new to me method of applique using Avery full sheet label paper.  Most of the scraps you see pictured will be for the large and medium size circles.  The stem and the three leaves ot the right of the stem will be in medium and dark blues.  I may use the bias maker for the stem since I want one continuous unit on each side.

I'm anxious to get this project into a quilt top so that the applique can commence!

Enjoy your last week of June!

I finished Koyo completely.  This quilt will find its way to Virginia!  My sister is in love with it and with that knowledge it will become hers.  Koyo is one of my 2021 UFOs.

Kerry gifted me one of the monthly pincushion kits that she is receiving.  Appropriate to give me the adorable Kitty!  Thank you Kerry =^.^=

Karen gifted me a neutral fabric she came across recently.  It is a fairly substantial cut that I will certainly put to a project easily enough.  Thank you Karen =^.^=

Nothing Used this week.  I did take advantage of a sale on All Hallows Eve fabrics for three backs for as many projects that I in my queue.  Digging my self in deeper on the Purchased end.  I'm not sure this year that I will ever get out of the negative, but it has been real fun getting there.  All these new fabrics have made me quite happy.

Kosmo and Kassy are wondering when the Design Wall will change!  I have three projects moving through my sewing room, but beyond showing you progress of filling in the most recent fabrics for Laundry  Basket Quilts Mystery Quilt 2021 (which they are now calling Michigan) nothing else to see.  Kerry is much further along if you want to see where I'd rather be.

At this point all the blocks need to be sewn together.  A solid border needs to be attached to this section.  Then there is a pieced outer border.  Next will come all the applique prep and attaching to the quilt top.  This project is a long way away from a finish =^.^=

Last Tuesday was the first time back together of the Sunshine Quilt Guild monthly meetings.  It also happened to be the last one of the 2020 - 2021 membership year.  Gifts were given for participation as board members or coordination of projects.  I got the blue 2 1/2" strip roll for coordination of the challenge.  I'll use these strips when I get around to Winter Blues project.  The post it notes and pins came by way of a door prize.
It seems I never showed Kandy Katz complete.  It is up on my website as are all of my finished projects.  I had a very fun time making this quilt.  Thank you to everyone who shared in the block making, fabric getting and naming!

During the week the final two fabrics that I have been waiting to arrive were delivered.  These will get me finished with the basic top and along with another fabric that came in a week ago get me through the final borders.

In the meantime I've been working on Mistletoe's Ohio Star blocks.  I have 80 of them done now with another 20 to go.  These do go fast and it is sort of mindless sewing.  I just need to make sure my star points don't get lost.

I have also been cutting the blocks for Vintage Christmas.  I have Months 2 thru 6 ready to sew.  Month 7 which arrived this week is waiting for that time between dinner prep and dinner serve to be cut.  Each month there have been six blocks.  I've noticed some deviation from the fabrics received and what is pictured in the instruction.  The fabrics received are the same color family, but a different print.  Not excited by this, but there is little choice on my part.  Don't get me wrong the substitutions aren't that bad.

I also received my monthly American Patchwork and Quilting magazine.  It had a quilt project that I wanted to make, Blue and White Delight.  I swiftly purchased one of the blue fabric suggestions, Annabella Blue Star Flower.   Will wait on the white solid fabric until a good sale.  It finds a spot in the queue for making.

So there is some to add this week and more in the negative (red) to Net Used.

I am back to working on Vintage Christmas.  These monthly packages "pack" a lot of cutting time.  I started around 9am and didn't finish the six blocks of Month 2 until 1pm.  No breaks in between!  I have six months worth and only now working on Month 2.  Month 7 is on its way so I am inspired to get up-to-date.

This is just a reminder of the six blocks of Month 1.  I will share with you the blocks of Month 2 as soon as I can stitch them up.
Here is the finished project that I am working towards.

Hoping the rest of my Michigan project arrive today!

I have a few fun things to look forward to this week.  Our first Sunshine Quilt Guild physical gathering on Tuesday night.  It is a bring your own dinner and lawn chair night.  It is also the night when the 2020-2021 Opportunity Quilt Winner will be drawn.  My next fun thing is on Friday having lunch with friends I haven't seen in quite sometime.  Finally, spending time with family in Riverside for the day on Saturday to celebrate one of three family birthdays that takes place on the 11th.  Wish I could be in Florida to celebrate with my brother and Virginia doing a happy dance with my nephew.  June is the biggest month of family birthdays.

Have a wonderful week ahead.

I've been getting around ten of these done each night.  45 complete with 55 to go.  These finish at 4" in the quilt.  I know sounds like a lot but that's just over five evenings of sewing =^.^=

During the week I received the first of two shipments that I need to receive before I am back to Laundry Basket Quilts Mystery Quilt 2021.  Oh this quilt does have a name now coined by Laundry Basket Quilts; Michigan.  Of course I'm looking for a name for mine still...any ideas out there?  Mine is the blue that inspired Michigan's blue lakes and blue skies.

I have no finishes so just this one from Be Creative Quilting Fabric from Kooskia, ID.  Maybe that is an idea for a name?

Happy Birthday Kosmo and Kassy.  Thinking back four years to day we brought them into our lives.  Kosmo the lover and Kassy the fastest by far.  Chewy sent them a birthday card and look what Mom gave them...

Kassy is enjoying the mice with the feather tails.  The springs will have Kosmo racing up and down the hall.  Don't know if you noticed by the Churu treats have been licked up as fast as I can serve them.  As a matter of fact, Amazon has already delivered the next Churu Pops.
Kosmo is checking out the second part of their gift.  Not sure these cute dishes will remain for the cats.  They are a bit too shallow for the way they eat.  More ends up on the floor than in their tummies.
