I made lots of progress over the weekend on Kayenne.  Finally have the centers decided.  Well lets just say that this is how I currently like it.  Feel free to voice your ideas...

Much of the time was spent preparing the sashing.  The Design Wall photograph only shows a sampling of the sashing.  The strips are 1 1/2", 2 1/2", 3 1/2" and 4 1/2".  The smallest size surrounds most blocks.  This one will be quite the puzzle going together.

Just a couple of days until my Sister arrives for a week stay.  We have loads of things planned including a sunrise flight in a hot air balloon over the wine country in Temecula, CA.  We'll be up before the crows Friday morning.

I hope you are enjoying the projects you are working on.  I'm so ready to have Kayenne finish.  This May UFO has certainly not been a month long project!  Check out others through the links today at Patchwork Times.

Sunday Stash Report, June 26, 2016

I'm in the mood it would seem for adding to my stash...even if that is only briefly!  This week Paradise Sewing in Poway saw me coming through their door.  It is always nice going there.  I had a slight adjustment to my Pfaff made.  I sewed over a pin...bad me. Broke the needle and the pin!  Knocked the threader off alignment with the needle.  I sure did miss the ease with using that threader.  Fortunately all worked out well and the threader is working correctly once again.  While there I needed binding of two projects and some batiks for the center melons of Kayenne.  I couldn't talk myself out the the "wordy" fabric =^.^= (I did try).

These are recent projects from Kerry.  I have the binding in place on Kattastic now.  Kattastic  is 44 x 60 a 2016 UFO.  A design by Carolyn Burgess Hughey, Scrappy Cats that was published in Quilt Live June 2014.  I'll be sewing down 208" of black print dots.  Will need good light for this one.  Maybe this is a project for outside under the patio cover we recently installed.

I will be preparing the red just purchased for Kissin Korner.  Kissin Korner is 50 x 60 and a 2016 UFO.  It is a Bonnie Hunter design called Kissin in the Corner!  It will take about six WOF strips or 220" of binding to get around.

I am a bit faster with the binding so I will be helping finish my Mom's friend's Memory Quilt; that's what the blue is for.  It is about 55 x 64 and will need six strips of binding.  A little more than Kissin Korner at about 238".  I looked at other colors for this binding, but couldn't get away from this shade of blue.

If that weren't enough binding projects for me I also volunteered to finish the binding on Sunshine Quilters 2016-2017 Opportunity Quilt.  Chances on this one will start in September.  It is big about 80 x 80. It is a Bonnie Hunter design called Garden Party.  It will need about eight strips; a big project that will be somewhere around 320".

Now that is a lot of binding...208" + 220" + 238" + 320" = 986".  Whoopee...I just love this part...I know most don't!  So here are my numbers for week 27.

I made good progress on Kayenne over the weekend.  All of the gold blocks are complete.  Have just two more sections of blue to stitch before working on the sashing.  The gold worked out well I am happy to say.

Sunday was a hot day in San Diego with today to be the hottest according to the weather reports.  The record highs are not expected to diminish until Wednesday.  Newscasters are already reporting the possibility of Flex Power Alerts.  Keep cool San Diego!

Sunday Stash Report, June 19, 2016

Some positive damage to my stash count this past week.  There was an auction at Sunshine Quilt Guild's June meeting.  We do these auctions twice a year.  This time there were three 8' tables stacked with fabric...oh my what deals I took home with me!
I found a bunch of Buggy Barn fabric along with charm packs and a layer cake.  The pieces on the bottom left are good size for backs.  It was a win for me as well as Sunshine Quilt Guild.
I also signed up for receiving Quilt Box.  You sign up to receive something fun each month.  My first box was June's that included items from Heather Gavins.  The program I signed up for runs for three months, so two more Quilty Boxes coming my way still.  It's fun to get boxes in the mail and to be filled with quilty things...what could be better?

My counts this week:

Used this week:  0 yards
Used YTD:  88.25 yards
Purchased this week:  16.75 yards
Purchased YTD:  62.75 yards
Net used in 2016:  25.5 yards

Design Wall Monday, June 13, 2016

On my Design Wall today is Kayenne.  This has turned into a very time consuming project.  There have been two separate times that I have unstitched the blocks.  Each time though the project looks better; so I have been okay with doing it.  In the first unstitching it was important to keep the black/gray pieces from an A block.  Second time it was keeping the neutrals from two B blocks.

I am pretty certain the golds will work well as the last color.  Strips of background go between the blocks.  A decision still needs to be decided for the centers.  Should they all be one color or two.  The pattern suggests two...

There is one more blue A/AR Block to sew that ends up on the bottom.  It will be similar to these two blocks but arranged a bit differently.

The blacks are all done.

So to are the browns.

Working hard to get May's UFO done...Kookoo Katchu is waiting for a start.  How many days in June?  See more projects through the links at Patchwork Times.

I am settling back into routine :(!  Mom left Tuesday...I miss her already.  We had such a good time while she was here.  Now we will be back to regular telephone calling.  I do have a visit to look forward to at the end of the month.  My Sister will visit for a week!

Krystals
33 x 40
I have two finished quilts to share.  Krystals is a miniature of the original design.  All the pinwheels were made from leftover red and white HSTs.  Can you see the snow flakes? There are 14 wool snowflakes blanket stitched in place.  They are pretty much hidden except for the ones that touch the border.

Konstellation and Krown
32 x 32
Konstellation and Krown is a great size for my office work space as well as a couple walls in my home.  It is one of the three sizes that are featured in the pattern.  This project is all from scraps.  One of my 2016 UFOs.

You can read all about their making by selecting their name in the Labels on the right sidebar.  Check out more of my finished projects at my website www.kwiltnkats.com.

Hope you are having a great week =^.^=

Today is Mom's last day before she leaves for home.  I have been doing some computer tutoring along with packing for the early flight.  Dad's ready for Mom to be home, but I'm sad to see her time with me conclude.  We worked on the last Project Linus quilt so that is what's been on my Design Wall Today.  It was made from the leftover backing fabric from another Project Linus quilt.  Fun that all the scraps made two.  You can see all the other donation we created at her blog Sew What Else.

I did receive a great surprise today.  My Sister has booked a flight to San Diego for a week long stay.  It has been way too long since we have had "Sister Time"!  She arrives later this month and will stay over the 4th of July.  So excited...already planning all the fun activities that might take place.  A game show, hot air, and slot machines...hmm wonder what other things we can get in to!

Sunday Stash Report, June 5, 2016

Mom and I are using up fabrics left and right on Project Linus and Veterans projects.  Pulling lots of border and backing fabrics from my stash.  You can see what we have finished at my Mom's blog HERE.  Don't have an guess on how much has been used so I won't be claiming any yardage.  My main objective is to get May UFO, Kayenne done!  Now that June UFO, Kookoo Katchu needs finishing.  OMG...an impossible mission is in front of me =^.^=
