Design Wall Monday, July 20, 2026

Confetti is on my Design Wall this morning.  The pattern is called When Perfect Isn't the Point by Jemina Flendt.  The top row is sewn together.  This is what I was able to accomplish in January at Road to California Quilt Show earlier this year.  I used lots of scraps from previous projects to put this project together.  A BOM from Fat Quarter Shop provided enough background scraps, but I had to wait each month to get enough to finish it (plus a little help from Pam).

I am getting low on three fabrics to have a good variety, but I will continue with what I have.  I can always reduce the size if the reds take over too much.  Instead of 144 units (4 make a block), I can make it 100 units.  This would mean 5 blocks by 5 blocks instead of 6.  I would be happy with this smaller size instead.  I can't call this quilt Konfetti because I already have a quilt with that name.  Time to start considering what to call my Confetti =^.^=

Yeah it's a 2026 UFO!

Sunday Stash Report, July 19, 2026

 

This one is done!  Kordia Krunch came together since Wednesday.  I had a bit of a delay making up my mind on the inner border.  I thought a solid white until I found this half yard in my stash.  It has dots just enough not to be so stark.  It will be off to Kerry sometime this week.

Even though it was a Rosie's week...I stayed out of the store so there is only a USED to my stash this week.

I will be working on one of the two workshops project that were started at Road to California earlier this year.  You will have to check out my Monday Design Wall post to see it.  It is a UFO and real far along.  I also have another of mom's projects to work on.  I think this project is the last of fabrics brought home with me last Fall.  Mom...make sure you let dad know that this Fall's trip I am coming to use up more!

Wednesday Workings, July 15, 2026

I am excited that all the piecing is done on Kordia Krunch.  All these pieces are on my design wall ready for a good press.  That pressing will take place as I stitch the rows together.  This was a big project.  There is a neutral inner border that needs to be figured out.  There is lots to do before an inner border can be added.  Oh I wish these last five quilts were UFOs!  

Klarity came back from Kerry.  I have her all trimmed and ready for the next steps.  Pieces of the border were plenty; they will become the sleeve.  I have it yet to stitch.  Love the purple =^.^=

Design Wall Monday, July 13, 2026

I am working away on Cherry Crunch.  The block consists of eight 2.5 x 4.5 units.  I will be making a total of 56 blocks.  In this photo the top row and the far right have the required seven by eight blocks.  I have the red string border units done.

Today I continue tow get those 56 blocks finished and fill up the space on my design wall.  I looked up types of cherries as inspiration for a "K" name.  Turns out there is a cherry I can use for a name.  How does Kordia Krunch sound?

Sunday Stash Report, July 12, 2026

 

Klarity arrived yesterday from Kerry.  The quilting design is very pretty.  It shows up nicely on the solid purple borders.  I have been preparing the binding and should be hand stitching it on later tonight.

I think I shared the first block with you already, but here it is again if not.  This is the stamped cross stitch project I am working on currently, Teddy Bears.

Block two.  He is taking a nap with his pacifier.

Block three has him playing with a duck toy.

Block four has him in his high chair all set with his duck bib and bowl at the ready.

Block five has him wrapped up in a blanket.  You can see he's not quite finished.  All the bears use the same three floss colors and the diaper, pacifier, and duck are throughout the 12 blocks using the same floss colors.  I love the expressions.

I finished the second table runner from mom's stash during the week.  This project will have a white backing.  I'm still holding out on what color to use for the binding.  I like the idea of the green, but there isn't quite enough.  My second choice is the dark pink, but once again there isn't quite enough.  The medium pink and the purple along with the border print have enough fabric to get around.  We will see when the time comes.

Wednesday Workings, July 8, 2026

Kittens is finished.  I had a difficult time finding the right binding fabric, but ended up liking this fabric quite a bit.  Which block do you like best?  I will soon be sharing the Teddy Bear blocks.  I have about five of them done.  I can tell now that it will be a cute quilt too.

The second table runner from mom's stash is on my design wall.  I added a couple of pinks and the inner border fabric to bring out the focus fabric.  A decision on the outer border will be next to make.

All the units for Cherry Crunch are ready to put this project together.  I will be making 56 of the block shown at the bottom (instruction).  Going to take a bit of time to accomplish this part.  So I don't get to bored the small easy projects like the table runner create a good distraction.

I must get back to my UFOs =^.^=

I finished the The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane...great read.  Now I am on to Black Cake...the jury is out on this one that I am not too far into.

Design Wall Monday, July 6 2026

I am back to working on Cherry Crunch today.  It isn't quite ready for my design wall.  I have finished all the 2.5" x 4.5" neutral strip units, 448 of them.  The red 2.5" squares are next to work on.  I need a diagonal line on them, again 448 of these.  They are all cut and ready.  These red squares are stitched on the strip unit.  That's all the units for the center of the quilt.  It will be surrounded by a neutral inner border.  

Finally a red 4.5" red strip border is to be attached.  I have a bunch of red strips ready to stitch.  I will skip forward to these today.

Later once the whole chicken is in the oven for dinner tonight; I will be marking the red squares.  I also plan to cut another table runner from mom's stash.

I have a book to finish before the SD Library takes it away =^.^=  I am on Part 2 of 4 in the book The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane. It is amazing to me the traditions that are passed down in China even today.

Go USA in the chase for the FIFA World Cup Trophy.

Let me start the day with fabrics purchased.  It was a day at Rosie's to get the last fabrics for a few projects.  This first background fabric was needed to complete a table runner from my mom's stash gathered last August.

Next up is the darker pink at the bottom of this photo for Kittens.  The two pieces on top were also considered along with countless grays.  I did settle on the darker pink and the binding prepared along with half way around on the hand stitching.  This is as cute as the Ducks from all that I have cross stitched to date.

I am trying to add to a lone Winnie the Pooh redwork block that my grandmother made.  I found these embroidery transfers, but they are a bit to small.  A suggestion was to stitch them out and than go from there on a design for the project.  Well I really didn't want to go that way so back to ETSY to find embroidery transfers thta were larger.  With a little help from the ETSY Seller, I found larger "Hoop" sized PDFs that she sells.  She led me to understand how to go about using the PDFs.  Needless to say I have the PDFs and now waiting on Amazon to bring me the transfer paper that will work with my printer.  The purchase of fabric here is two whites that closely work well with the original fabric.  Wish me luck with this new for me endeavor.

These last three fabrics had the Rosie's group helping me audition.  The two blues in the first photo one out.  I decided adding, although I like it, the red made the project look too patriotic for my liking.  The blue diagonal print was quite literally found by chance.

Here is the table runner complete.  I have another focus fabric to work with for a second of this design.  I will be working it into my queue =^.^=

Here is the Joe's Ties quilt top complete.  Right now the plan is to use the outside border fabric as the binding too.  I am real excited to have this done in plenty of time before it is needed for Christmas.

Wednesday Workings, July 1, 2026

 

Kittens arrived from Kerry.  I ditched the fabric I thought would be nice for the binding and also the jumbo ric-rac that was to be part of the binding too.  I just didn't like either for this all too cute design.

I have in the past used the same fabric that the cross stitch is framed with as the binding, but I'm not sure I like it either.  This project is packed up until I can do some auditioning at Rosie's.  A grey to match the plaid is on my mind.  I will know something for certain soon.

Joe's tie quilt is assembled and also waiting for some auditioning at Rosie's for the borders surrounding the bow ties.  I would like to have something that brightens the project, but keeping it masculine of course.  Black is the obvious choice I suppose.  I think a dark shade of blue might work well.  This fabric will need to work with an outer border.  Lots to match up LOL.

In the meantime I pulled out one of the table runner patterns my mom liked.  Using her fabric all the way on this one.

I have the middle nine patch cut now.  The next one to cut will be the corners.  I plan to use the same focus fabric with the purple.  The flying geese will be a variety of the fabrics on the bottom with the yellow as a background for them.
