The flock has been multiplying!  There are eight with one more yet to go.  The last one will be right facing.  You might notice that I changed out two fabrics.  I just couldn't make myself like them.  Better to do it now than regret not having done it.  Three of the flamingos are completely assembled.
This is the first of the left facing flamingos.
This is the second heading in the same direction.  The plan is to have this project done this week.  It does look possible =^.^=  Knock Kneed just might be in the used fabric category come Sunday...

Sunday Stash Report, April 28, 2019

I have four done out of the nine that are for Knock Kneed.  The one on the right is completely assembled.  The other three are left unassembled to allow for changing of the rows between the remaining eight.  When assembly comes the 4 1/2 inch square will change the look of the "tail feathers" and "body".
An upclose of the finished one next to the one yet to be assembled.
Here are the other two.  I do like the legs :)!

I got a package in the mail on Friday.  These were in it.  My sister makes the best cards and I love sending them.  Mom also sent me some fabric, neutrals that I can always find a use for.

Knock Kneed flamingo one is done.  This one looks so innocent to make until you start on the legs!  Knock Kneed has nine flamingos in the project.  There is a mistake in the pattern on Fabric 4; the longest strip is 2-1/2 not 1-1/2 wide.  I was using scraps so that might end up biting me.  There is always another piece to pull from the stash, not to worry =^.^=

This project will take awhile.  I am happy I found out ahead of time that this wouldn't be a good one for working on at the retreat.  It just has so many pieces!

Enjoy the week -

Sunday Stash Report, April 21, 2019

Koldplay is finished.  I am both pleased with how it turned out and the size.  This is my first completion of 2019 UFOs.  I'm still working on 2018 UFOs; two of them Winter-ific and Knock Kneed.

As you can see I will be using lots of stash in the making of Knock Kneed.  I had thought about working on this one at the quilt retreat that is coming in May, but have decided against it.  There are just too many pieces to keep track of.  The flamingos start with a light color for the head and the legs darkest color.  I have mostly salmon and a few pinkish, yellowish, and redish.  Aren't these fabrics yummy?
Fabric 1
Fabric 2
Fabric 3
Fabric 4
Fabric 5
Fabric 6
From the stack of Fabric 4 I removed the top piece.  It just didn't belong.  Fabric 5 and Fabric 6 are my favorites.  The rest of today will be spent cutting the background fabric and auditioning my selections for each of the nine flamingos.  But for now I have them stacked as I think they might end up.  The lightest fabric is on top and the five remaining fabrics are in sequence with the darkest those lovely long legs and the knock knees which gave Janet O the inspiration for the great name of this project.

Flamingos 1-3
Flamingos 4-6
Flamingos 7-9
Nothing changes my stats this week.  =^.^=  Hope your Easter has been glorious.

Winter-ific is coming along.  Doesn't look like much has changed, but the white wool parts are all sewn in place.  I used a satin stitch instead of a blanket stitch.  I need to prep the next wool parts before more stitching takes place.
Koldplay is with binding and sleeve ready for hand sewing.  I will be working on it during the week.

I'll be celebrating the life of Judi Sample, a friend from Sunshine Quilt Guild, on Wednesday.  She will be missed by many.

I hope your week is how you want it to be =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, April 14, 2019

Let me start with an enhancement...well actually it's a door prize win from Sunshine's Monthly Meeting that was Tuesday.  I was one of about six that won for having worn my name tag; cute fabric.  I got back from Tonya the last border units for next year's opportunity quilt.  Jo will be giving me the finished center, that was the largest amount of stitching, by the retreat date in May.  Kerry and my presentation at the guild was well received.  Thanks to all of you who stopped us to share a "well done".  Today I got most of the quilts back to their storage areas.  I think there might be another ten yet to store.  It's always good to give your stored quilts a good airing from time-to-time and then fold them up a different way.

Today I put the binding and sleeve on Koldplay.  This project is the 2018 Bonnie Hunter Winter Mystery called Good Fortune.  I'll share this one while I'm binding in a post tomorrow.  I'm also working on Winter-ific; stitching down the wool.  The snowflakes and snowmen are first.  The difficult stitching will come with the snowmen's hats, scarfs, buttons and facial features.  I'm looking to start Knock Kneeded this week.  My sewing table is clear for the moment.
I finished the April BOM kits that Kerry coordinated for Sunshine members.  Members mostly took one kit, but I took the last two.  The kits were pinks and oranges.  My orange has a lot of yellow.  Thanks to Joan from my Mom's Quilt Guild, Chesapeake By the Bay Quilters, for having put this one together.  Joan coordinated it for their April BOM project too.
Klover finished and is now with Kerry for some of her lovely work.  This week I'll claim it as used.

Design Wall Monday, April 8, 2019

There was desire and time to finish Klover yesterday!  I'm very pleased with how it turned out.  The design was easy and quick with well interpretation of just how to do it.
Next up is Knock Kneed (thanks Janet O for the great name).  Florence Flamingo was a popular pattern a couple of years back and I'm really happy to get going on mine.  This will be the last 2018 UFO to finish.  Now that's music to my ears =^.^=
Kerry and I have a Trunk Show presentation to give tomorrow night at Sunshine Quilt Guild's April meeting.  Each of us have 34 quilts to share that range from 2004 to present.  Each one is from a class or challenge or project we worked together on.  The variety in choice of color and theme is something to be seen.  Get in touch if you want more information on the location and time.

Hope your week ahead is what you are after...wish mine didn't mean five working days :(.  Until next time stay sewing.

Sunday Stash Report, April 7, 2019

This 2018 UFO is coming along real fast.  Once more the time spent to cut the units was longer than the piecing!  Besides assembly only the small four patches required sewing.  I will be calling this one Klover.  It was an easy quilt to name since Miss Rosie's Quilt Co. called this Schnibbles project Clover.  I purchased this as a kit from Primitive Gatherings in 2016.  It came as a kit that I thought would be all the fabrics needed for the top and the binding.  Well it didn't work out that way.  It needed more than one charm square pack which was all that came in the kit.  I had to add in quite a bit more charm squares to bring it together.  This wouldn't have been an issue, but my collection of Reproduction fabrics isn't that healthy.  I did make it work though, just don't look too closely =^.^=

I'm assembling today with a hopeful finish of this 34 x 34 quilt.  I am sure to find something in my collection to work for a back.

Time to come clean on my newest purchases.  Paradise Sewing in Poway had a great sale, which I thought frankly was a misprint in their email flyer announcing the sale.  Purchase six yards and get six yards of fabric for FREE!  Well who can pass up a deal like that?  I needed a linen-ish background and binding for my next project and the last 2018 UFO to find its way to the top of the sewing queue.  Those two are on the right.  The others are neutral enhancements. To make this sale that much better, if it could be, I found three gift cards which paid the entire tab.  I was doing a happy dance on Friday!  So my numbers go up this week by 12 yards.  Soon to come down with the completion of Klover, but that will be next week.

Done with another 2018 UFO.  Rebecca's Needles by Pam Buda above that I'm calling Kika finished at 39 x 39.  Now I need to rummage through my stash for a back.  The binding will be the darkest red fabric that is in the top.  I thought if I couldn't find something appropriate that I would take advantage of the terrific sale at Paradise Sewing that is this weekend.  A FABRIC BLOW OUT!  I might still have to do it =^.^=

Next one up is one called Klover.  More on Clover in my next post.  Happy Prankster's Day as the younger folks are calling what I always grew up knowing to be Happy Fool's Day!
