Dad is headed all the way to the century mark this week.  It seems so incredible that he continues to be in such great shape.  He loves testing his wits with this game show.  I'm so happy that I've been able to return to celebrate your birthday with you.

I've been working on Fit to Frame while visiting.  I also am sewing down the binding and label on Kringle's Koming that will be given to Greyson tomorrow.  Mom had some labels to sew in place that I did too.

Hope your week is as happy as mine will be.

Sunday Stash Report, August 29, 2021

Today is Mom's Birthday and I am with her to celebrate!  It has been way to long for a visit to be sure.  I hope to spoil her today!

I left Kofi on my Design Wall until I get back.  This is the last of my work.  I have an email out to Anelie (the designer) to see if she has ever tried to do what I want.  Maybe I'll get lucky :)

No change in stats this week...  I'm having way too much fun with family hugs =^.^=

Kofi this morning.  I haven't decided yet on how the border will end up.  I am really leaning towards a solid black=^.^=

Making blade after blade after blade....  The border of Kofi is going to use a lot of them!

This was a good place to take a photo.  It is coming along nicely.  I was a bit worried about how the center should work with color placement of the blades.  I reached a version I liked.  What do you think?

I have been trying to get the blades to sit right in the border corners, but after too many to count fails I might just throw in the towel.  The pattern wants prairie points to finish and I don't.  I did try it but wasn't happy.  I want a 6" border with blades.  The tricky part that I can't grasp is the corners.  It seems so simple...why can't I figure it out?

I have a busy week ahead that involves Southwest Airlines!  Look out family this girl is heading East =^.^=

Karen to the rescue with a name for Jovial...  How about Kringle's Koming?  Spell check doesn't like it, but I love it!

Here I am busy getting the binding ready.  I will be tucking this in my suitcase to work on and finish before meeting Greyson for the first time.  Tiffany will need to put it away until Christmastime when it will make more sense to have this holiday quilt about the house.
Kringle's Koming arrived on Thursday from Kerry along with this fabric that will be used in the American Quilter's project.  The American Quilter's Stitch Along is at block 10 with only two more blocks to go.

As for my stash update...another week to see the same figures.  Kofi is in full swing so I am hoping for a change soon.

Time now for working on Kofi a 2021 UFO.  First I had to get familiar with how this project was done.  I had a few blocks made, but when it came to putting together the next block...OH MY!

The melon block is what I was working on in the first photo.  This pattern is called Split - Blade by Anelie Belden.  It takes a clever approach to making Dresden shapes.  The pattern has you using 2 1/2" strips or a jelly roll.  I used 2 1/2" Island Strips Paisley Dot Earth Tones in Batik for my print and a coordinating Batik mostly from my stash for the Dresden blades.  Black backgrounds are so striking and I had lots of black to get me through the 6 1/2" backgrounds.  Anelie has her own templates called fast 2 cut Templates.  This one of course uses the Dresden Plate template.

I have lots more to go.  I will be making two blocks of each fabric set.  The remaining blades will be used in the border and if you choose you don't have to bind it!

Head back on Sunday to see my progress.  Have a wonderful week!

Sunday Stash Report, August 15, 2021

Last week I worked on preparing my "in flight" projects.  I'll be heading East soon for a long in the waiting trip to see family and friends.

I am back to Fit to Frame project using this time the Avery Labels.  As long as my glasses keep from fogging up with my mask on I should be able to get through a lot of the base applique.  Then I'll set up there for the flight home.  I am about half way through the blocks.  This is a UFO from a previous year...

It may not seem like much was accomplished, but work had me pretty busy.  Nothing added or eliminated from my stash count this week.  We have Don and Rita coming for the night and two days this weekend.  We will be staying in.  Spaghetti and fixings on Saturday for dinner.  Baby backs and chicken thighs with jasmine rice on Sunday.  We will even run the dishwasher!

I finished Mistletoe (2021 UFO)!  I'm so excited to have the applique done.  I'll be getting the backing together then it is off to Kerry for the magic she creates.  I hope we can figure out something awesome for that center square.  It demands attention!

This is how it was left on Sunday.  I hade all the leaves sewn down only needing seven berries to finish up.  Time got against me and had to call it quits for the day around 9:45pm.  Tuesday had me at the work site and getting to bed early is a must on these days.

Now that Mistletoe is done...what next you ask?  I love my light box.  I used it so much during Mistletoe that I couldn't just put it back in it's box.  I'll be preparing the units for Fit to Frame (2019 UFO).  Two of the remaining six are up for preparing for my trip East.  A girl can't keep her hands idle...

These are the fabrics I'll be using.  Once these are prepared for my travel companions...Kofi (2021 UFO) is next to work on.

Of course I can't share too much!  This project will have me busy at my machine for awhile.  Progress to show as days go on.  Return to see what's happening with Kofi on Sunday with my post.  Take care and have a beautiful week =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, August 8, 2021

I've been working on this every day.  Getting a bit closer to finishing the applique.  This was taken on Friday and since then I've made a lot of progress.

I had to make more Unit A leaves to keep going.  I learned that the applique for Michigan (you remember that gorgeous blue and white project) takes the same size Unit A and Unit D fortunately, so there is no chance for wasting Avery Label paper.

I got more Aurifil thread at a pretty good deal.  I think these are the last ones I will get for awhile unless I need a particular color.  I've built up my collection pretty well now.

Kosmo hopes that you celebrate International Cat Day today.  I'm sure your kitty would love a chin scratch =^.^=

No changes to stash this week...no further in the red :)  Hope you have a wonderful day.  If you have time check out Mistletoe tomorrow on my Design Wall Monday post.

These were the last of unit A applique that I had available for stitching down.  There is four of them on each vine unit.  Of course variety in fabrics is a must.  I will be stitching these vine units down later tonight.  But first...
There are more unit A applique to prepare.  I am very happy still with the Avery Label paper.  At the bottom are the unit As ready to trim down to 1/4".  The center is the trimmings and finally just to the left are the prepared unit As.  My LBQ green layer cake fabrics are starting to dwindle.  Funny that I thought initially I had way more than I needed.  NOT =^.^=

Enjoy your week!

Mistletoe is a large project so it is difficult to show you it entirely.  My Design Wall holds it all, but I can't get enough distance from it to capture completely.  This image does show the ten applique units of the 32 that make up the outside border.  As I've mentioned previously I can get two done in an evening.  Yesterday I took time to prepare more of the "A" leaf and finish preparation of the "D" berry.  It takes four "A" for each applique unit.  Here are some photos leading up to and beyond the photo above.

The fabrics I ordered off Etsy from CP Quilt Shop for the Primitive Gathering Stitch Along arrived so there is an add this week.

20 FQs to add to the three I already have.  This is the American Gathering fabric line by Moda.  The stitch along is a fundraiser and has a block released each week on Thursday.  Block 7 was this past week.  There still is an opportunity to get the past blocks and the recipe from Lisa's Blog.

Here I go again further into the red...

Today is my brother, Steve's, Heavenly Birthday.  Missing him each and every day since he joined the Angels in January 2008.  Never is he ever far from my thoughts.  Although Morgan, Steve's daughter, is still with us with her mother Tammy, we haven't seen her for a very long time.  Sad that Tammy keeps her from us.  Maybe one day Morgan will come back into my family's lives as Steve would have made sure never would have been so.
