The plan is to finish Hearts of Hope by Bonnie Hunter.  Some string units got their corners on and then I will work on putting the hearts together.  I would so much like to have this done by the weekend.  I want to have it in the mail to Kerry this time next week.

Enjoy your Memorial Day =^.^=

Two Birthdays to celebrate this week...Tiffany a big "Zero" birthday and Greyson Two.  Happy Birthday you two.

Sunday Stash Report, May 29, 2022

Katching Kluckers is completely finished.  I finished putting the eyes on yesterday.  I am being a bit silly...but, this occurred to me as I was putting this project together.

How funny would it be to add a caption to the third turkey that didn't make it to the quilt front?  I actually learned something in putting the caption together.  The presidential pardon of the Thanksgiving turkey has become an annual event, but the peace pact between the fowl and the White House is a relatively new thing.  And in fact, a few presidents actually ate their guests!  It was President George H.W. Bush who made the turkey pardon official.  The names were Peanut Butter and Jelly come from a list submitted by schoolchildren.  The two fowl will return to their home state of Indiana to live out the rest of their days at Purdue University's Animal Sciences Research and Education Farm in West Lafayette.

I am back to Autumn Love project.  These are the units for the 4" Stars of Week 4.  This Week also has four Harvest Stars and the word AUTUMN to assemble as well.

Nothing to change my stats this week.  I sure am enjoying the four day weekend!

Karre is finished (Carre is a type of tulip).  This was from a Sunshine Quilt Guild BOM Win.  I won the blocks Hallie coordinated.  To balance out all the colors and make it a nice size I added the two purples.  It is quilted with the cutest bee pattern in pastel thread.

Also done is Julie's Flower block.  This is May's BOM.  Julie supplied the green and neutral pieces.  Participants were to add a 4 1/2" flower square.

Still binding today.  Katching Kluckers is what's being sewn.  192" around, label, and sleeve.  I also have a very funny caption sewn to the back.  Need to look for three small black buttons for the turkey eyes.

Hope your week ahead is awesome=^.^=

This coming week is a birthday and this is the gift that will be going to Tiffany.  I know she will just love it.  Wait until she gets her eyes on the quilting design...  There is also a second gift that accompanies Krush, but this one will be left as a surprise.  I will share once she has it in her hands.

Along with Karre and Katching Kluckers with binding, label, and sleeve there wasn't much more happening in my sewing room other than putting everything in its place after the retreat.  Those who know about going on retreats can understand how this works :)

A trip to the post office had packages and extra postage envelopes going to several places across the U.S.  Iowa, Arizona, Wisconsin, and two California addresses had deliveries from me.  This week a trip to the post office will have packages going to Maryland and two Virginia addresses.  Boy, it would be nice to deliver all of these in person.

Nothing changes my stash numbers this week.  Can't wait to see some sort of movement soon.  Happy week everyone=^.^=

My 2021 - 2022 Sunshine Challenge project was ready to present at the meeting last Tuesday.  The Challenge was a Beetles theme using three provided fabrics and having a beetle not a Beetle in the project.  No win for me, but I overheard nice comments while the membership voted for their favorite two.  Mine has the Beetles song Roll Over Beethoven using fabric 1 in the sheet music, fabric 2 in the lyrics, and fabric 3 in the beetle of the three letter "Os" as well as the binding.  Notice the dog Beethoven from the Universal Pictures movies that began in 1992.  Beethoven has a top hat on and is rolling over between the four vinyl records.  The back shares the lyrics and the story of Beethoven.

Challenge fabrics are on the right with fabric 1 at the top, fabric 2 next, and fabric 3 at the bottom.  The fabric on the left is the back and the middle is the background.

The fabric charm packs were given for participation in the Challenge and a door prize win.  The evening was packed with all kinds of fun!

The rest of this week will be on catching up on all the binding projects, finishing Hearts of Hope, and hopefully cutting out Kauldron.  Hope your week catches you up on starts and finishes.

Sunday Stash Report, May 15, 2022

Projects from the Sunshine Quilt Retreat.  Flag block for Hogs for Heroes finished.  This block will be mailed to Primitive Gathering Quilt Shop in Larsen, WI.  Lisa Bongean has a call out for blocks to be made into fundraisers for the Hogs for Heroes.  Mine will be in the mail this week.
Kauldron didn't make it out of the car!  Witches Night Out will be next to start.

O Say Can You Sew! Clue 1 finished and Clue 2 finished as much as it could be.  Need to cut more neutrals to match up with the remaining red squares.

Hearts of Hope Part 1 finished and Part 2 finished as far as the variety of yellows held out.  There are a few more to make.  Just about ready to add the already cut neutrals to fashion both parts into the heart they will become.  This is the project Bonnie Hunter of Quiltville designed to support Ukraine.  Mine will be going to the International Quilt Festival/Long Beach on August 6 where there will be a drop off.
The small version of Be Mine by Laundry Basket Quilts Edyta Sitar finished.  My project will be Krush 2.  Yes it finished and will be on its way to Kerry once a back is selected from my stash.
There was a red and white 10" block exchange.  Not sure what will become of them, but of course participation was a must.
Kassy had to try out the two pet beds that Lorna made.  These along with others that are yet to be made will make their way to Southern California Abyssinian Rescue.  They will be in the mail this week too.

All these are gifts from participants at the retreat.  It is lots of fun getting these goodies.

These are fabric enhancements.  The first photo show fabrics from a quilt shop that closed its doors a final time the Saturday of our retreat.  Needle in a Fabric Stash moved to an online store.  The fire hydrant fabric is enough for a charity quilt that is planned.  The second photo is from Sew Treasured (aka Primitive Gatherings/Temecula).  The rescue fabric will be teamed up with the fire hydrant fabric.  The other two bundles are American Gatherings that will be used for the Stitch Along Lisa Bongean offered in 2021.

So there you have the results of the 2021 - 2022 Sunshine Quilt Retreat.  We all had a blast complete with a snowball fight arranged by Sherri.  There was more coming in than going out of my stash, but as you can see there will soon be a bunch going out!

Here's what is going in my car to the Sunshine Quilt Retreat this weekend.  They may not all come out of the car...

Between tonight and Wednesday, the only two days left to get myself ready, I'll be cutting fabrics into sewing kits =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, May 8, 2022

I've been really busy working on my 2021 - 2022 Sunshine Quilt Guild Challenge all week.  I have it done now with the exception of sewing down the sleeve and adding the label.  I will be able to share my project this time next week.  I am pretty excited about it.  Once this is done I can concentrate on the getting ready for the annual Sunshine Retreat that is this weekend.  I leave on Thursday...getting very excited=^.^=

Kerry is here this weekend with her family.  She had a few hours yesterday to spend time with me at my home.  It has been awhile since she was here last.  I usually go to her family in Santee for a few hours visiting.  She came with three projects she was working on for me all quilted up!

The top photo is an addition to Krush that is for Tiffany for her birthday later this month.  I still have the binding to finish on Krush since that was pushed to the side to work on the Challenge.  Katching Kluckers is above and Karre is below.

All of these need finishing touches.  I must get ready for the retreat before I can get back to them.

So this week I will claim yardage used on the Challenge.  Nice to have the numbers change in a positive direction.

Happy Mother's Day to all you moms =^.^=

The Beetles Theme project is coming along.  To early to share any photos...must share after the reveal next week Tuesday.  Eek...this 2021 - 2022 Sunshine Quilt Guild Challenge must be done in seven days.

Hope your sewing room is humming just as mine is =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, May 1, 2022

Did a bit of damage to my net stash report.  I needed four plus a light weight black fabric for the project I can't share quite yet.  Met up with my friend Sue and had a quick shopping experience.  I promise to share this project in a couple of weeks as it must be done a week from Tuesday!

Kerry received four projects to quilt on Saturday.  We plan to look at threads and patterns soon for the quilting.

Have a wonderful week =^.^=
