It is getting close to the bombs bursting in air day!  Our home isn't too close to the loud noises, but just in case you are try out the helpful hints from The Cat Hospital.  I do practice the first suggestion and close the windows and curtains in their quiet spot of choice...our bedroom.

I will not be showing too much of the goings on with Emerald Chilhowie as I don't want the surprise to be shared.  Know that it is coming along nicely with the block and sashing portion nearly done.  Next up will be the inner border.  I have a good many units already cut.  Anxious to see how it will look next.

Hope that you have a good week ahead.  This is a working Friday for me, but at the end of my day, my stay-at-home vacation will begin =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, June 25, 2023

My machine has been humming all weekend.  I've been working on Emerald Chilhowie.  Finally there has been a finish to making all the 15" blocks.  Now I'm working on the assemble of the units that make up the rows.  Including the row's sashing, I am through the first five rows of sashing and into the sixth of this seven row project.  I remind myself that a finish of the top and on its way to quilting will be in July!

A little bit of an add to my stash this reporting.  Of all my stash the perfect bindings could not be found for two quilts that needed them.  I also picked up the back for Kicking (Stomping Ground).  Depending on the thread selection the binding for it will be decided.  Kicking made its way along with Kountry to Arizona for Kerry's hands last Thursday.  Found the cutest elephant design on Etsy for Kicking.

So my add this week is four yards.  Hope your week is special.

Two more birthday celebrations this past week took place.  My DH and my BIL had them on Thursday and Saturday.  Fortunately, both are happy and healthy in their early 60s =^.^=

Look what's back up on my Design Wall.  Yep it is what I have been calling Emerald Chilhowie.  I am working on the setting now.  Specifically the sashing between the blocks and the rows.  The row on the far right is folded over so that I could see placement as I build this six rows across and seven rows down project.  Once the two rows are complete I'll be folding over them to allow the rest of the blocks to be fussed over for best placement.  Then it is on to the next part that will be the inner border.  I plan to work on it much the same as the 15" blocks, all 42 of them, folding over the rows to make the best look for planning unit placement.

Continue with me as Emerald Chilhowie progresses.  I have every intention of finishing the top and getting it to Kerry for quilting during July.

Happy Father's Day Dad!  I'm so lucky to have my Dad in my life.  I gifted my Dad with a new Maryland State Flag that was up on the tri-flag pole the same day it arrived.  He was thrilled with it and especially that it was made in the USA.  The card arrived the next day and he got a chuckle out of the cat playing a heavy metal tune with a moving guitar.  Funny!

Krawley was gifted to Ripley on Wednesday.  I got a huge smile across my face with her smile and arms in action.  Happy baby!

I have kitted more projects.  This one is It Takes Two.  A Fat Quarter Shop project from their 2022 Cupid Box.  This one is a 2023 UFO.  Help me with a "K" name for this project.

Kianti is kitted and ready to stitch.  It is from the Zebra Finch Flower Quilt Block pattern by Suzanne's Art House.  I have made several of Suzanne's projects.  They are small and a quick sew.  I am always looking for something to use my stash.  This one is also a 2023 UFO.

Hanging Boo is the last to kit this past week.  Another from Suzanne's Art House; the pattern is called Fall Mug Rugs & More.  Rosie's has a wide assortment of Suzanne's Art House patterns.  Another 2023 UFO.  After this one from this pattern collection, the Owls and Pumpkins are planned.  I have a few ideas for this Halloween project's name.  What do you think about Kursed, Kornier, or Kryptic?

This past Tuesday was Sunshine Quilt Guild's last month of the membership year.  Ginna won the Opportunity quilt, lucky girl!  We have a new one ready for taking chances once the tickets are printed.  I'll share a photo soon.  There were several other winners at the potluck meeting that included closest guess of the FQ Tower height, 2 1/2" Strip Roll weight, Bimonthly Opportunity Quilt, and Block of the Month.  This was a gift for being a member.  The pen and FQ will come handy at some point in time.  Sunshine has sew ins during the summer months, but no regular meetings in July and August.  September starts up a new membership year.

Stomping Grounds finished yesterday.  I love how it turned out.  I'm thinking about calling this project Klamouring, Klumping (the baby's last name is Klump), or Kicking...what do you think?

Here's what all the stomping is about!  Stomping Ground is under my needle.  I have all the elephants sewn together now.  Aren't they cute?  The setting pieces are next then this one will be off to Kerry for some quilting.  This is the second of two baby quilts made for coworkers and their first babies that both happen to be girls.  This one is for Kira.

These all arrived from Kerry and will get binding, sleeve and label sewn down during the week and finishing up Stomping Ground.  There are two quilts headed to Arizona likely a week from today.  Kountry and Stomping Ground.

Krawley also came back from Kerry with the latest delivery.  You remember the cute caterpillar project?  It is the first of the baby quilts to be completed and will go to Ripley later this week.  I don't have a picture to share with you now, but be certain you will see it before it is gifted.

Have an awesome week that is full of sunshine...we could sure use some of that in San Diego!

Sunday Stash Report, June 11, 2023

This is the month for birthday celebrations in my family.  Three of them just celebrated this past week.  Let's start with the youngest.  Austin my nephew, Mike my brother, and Rita my SIL all share June 11th as their start in the world.  Happy Birthday!

I continued on with my kit cutting.  I have quite a few now so today I started to sew some of them up.  This one wasn't started; It Takes Two is from a Cupid Box.  Coordinated by Fat Quarter Quilt Shop.  These are fun projects that come as a mystery gift box all with a particular theme.  Right now I'm waiting on my Liberty Box.
I have this one ready to go too.  Besides Halloween projects, sunflowers seem to be at the forefront of my sewing queue at the moment.  This one Zebra Finch Flower will be made as a single sunflower with the plaid for the back.  It will be a quick easy project.  My name for it will be Kianti that is a variety of sunflower.

This Halloween project the Hanging Boo wall hanging is all cut and ready too.  I'll be using the black on the left with the glowing eyes for the back.  This was a gift from either Sue or Bonnie several years back.
I was also gifted from Mom her prize for winning the chicken blocks from her guild's BOM for May.  She actually won all the blocks, of which there were many, enough for two quilt projects.  She opted to let two others who participated to take the blocks and she took the fabric bundle. I helped out with the block she made so I get the fabric!

I mentioned that I started sewing on Sunday after all the events of the weekend.  There was a lot of stomping that continued throughout the day.  Come back tomorrow and see what stomped in!

No changes to my Stash count today, because I don't count gifts =^.^=

These two turn six today!  They are about to celebrate the day starting with Temptations Birthday Treats.  Kassy is on the left and Kosmo on the right.  They have both just noticed the bag =^.^=  Happy Birthday!

Yesterday I spent several hours on the floor sorting through my stash trying to find the perfect fabrics to make more projects.  It is difficult for me to look for more than one project at a time.  I really need to focus on one or I am not happy with the result.  I have settled on these fabrics for another sunflower wall hanging.  I hope to get to the cutting of units during the week.

I will be making two projects from this pattern.  These fabrics will make the wall hanging on the left side of the pattern's cover.  This one will stay with me.  Like I need another Halloween project!

This second set of fabrics will make the darling placemat on the bottom just under the wall hanging.  I might get swayed into making the other two placemats, but first the pumpkin and owl.  This one will go to Greyson.  As I have mentioned at one time he was very interested in owls.  Not sure that is still the case, but he's going to have one under his plate on Halloween.

Sunday Stash Report, June 4, 2023

Oh my how times flies by...this little man turned three on Friday.  He loves to have his photo taken!  Happy Birthday Greyson =^.^=

Not to downplay his Mom's birthday by any way.  Tiffany celebrated her birthday on May 30.  Happy Birthday Tiffany =^.^=
This week was concentrated on cutting.  The Witches Night Out pattern has a lot of pieces to cut.  In the pattern book each block design is treated separately.  Names like Chevron Pumpkin Starlight Pumpkin Bubbling Cauldron, and my favorite Black Cat and Broomstick blocks are ready to make.  I will need to complete the cutting of the project's Finishing, but this will wait until the blocks are all stitched and ready to assemble.  Kauldron you are getting closer to becoming a quilt!

Can you imagine that all of this is leftover?  This my friends is how our "Stash" becomes larger and larger...  Not to say it won't get used mind you, but really do we need as much as a pattern calls for usually...
Next up to cut was Stomping Ground project.  This is where my stash needed a little more.  The purple and two greens just were not to be had so to the fabric store I went to complete the fabric requirements.
This one didn't take any time at all to cut out.  I plan to sew up a few of the elephants today.  This will go to a coworker's first child who was born on May 29th.  This is a pattern I've been wanting to make for a long time now.

You can see the slight change to my stash.  I hope your first week of June brings sunshine and joy.  June birthdays are a plenty in my family.  Check back tomorrow to see who turns six.
