Sunday Stash Report, June 28, 2020

This is where my handsome nutcracker remains until Primitive Gatherings brings me some Valdani #8 threads.  I pined his hat with its trim and the beard with the inner part of his coat on just to give him a form :)!  Four balls of Perle Cotton in ivory, red, yellow and blue get here soon =^.^=

Korona is ready for the hand work; putting the binding, sleeve, and label in place.  I will be working on it while waiting for the threads.

Kourage has its binding in place.  The sleeve is ready next along with the label.  It is my plan to have Greyson's quilt on its way Thursday.  I really love how this project turned out.

There is nothing to change my stash status this week.  After having several weeks of using and no purchases it's a shame.  Perhaps Primitive Gatherings will bring me threads early this week and Wooly Nutcracker can be a finish next time.  Until then do take care of yourself!

Sunday Stash Report, May 24, 2020

Does this photo bring a suggestion to you?  It bothered me to see not one, but two containers overflowing with scraps...all those important leftovers for a scrappy quilter like me.  Well it was decided to empty the containers and bring my scraps under control =^.^=  This is after the first container was emptied.  Granted it wasn't nearly as full as the second container, but enough so that no more was going into it from another project start (or continuation from a UFO).  Oh the feeling is grand to see it emptied and its contents managed.

This is the result of tackling the second container after one full evening of taming...

Kassy is showing you just how empty the container is now!  Cats and boxes!  It is true about them and if there is one around one can find a cat inside.  All the scraps are ready for action with the next exciting project that needs them.

Korona

I do have a completion to change the stats of my stash this week.  I also have a name for my Unity Shelter-in-Place Quilt Along.  Korona sounds like an apt name, what say you?  I decided to stop after Part 5.  At this point it makes a nice lap size at 58" x 67".  A white on white back is planned with a darker blue as the binding.  There are some leftover units to use in the sleeve...but I'm getting ahead of the quilting!  Kerry will get this project next week too.  First though there is some ironing to do :)

Kavort

Kuddles and Kisses

Friday the postperson brought me Kavort and another newly named project, Kuddles and Kisses (aka Elvira).  Look close at Kuddles and Kisses quilting...choo, choo, and ABC, chug-a-chug, chug!  This project is for Greyson my grandnephew that is due nine days from now!  Don't look too close Tiffany...  The black/white check strips on the right are the binding ready to prepare.  Having Kuddles and Kisses done today and in the mail next week is my goal.  Greyson needs one of his Great Aunt's quilts!

Much of the evening on Saturday was spent putting more leftover partial blocks together to make the sleeve for Kavort.  There were lots of leftover units from Kavort that I wanted to use on it somehow.  Many were used up with a strip down the back, but five remained that became the sleeve along with some leftover back.  The green strips in the back will become the binding.

So a good week with a lot of binding and a trip to the post office ahead for me in the coming days.  I hope you have an opportunity to enjoy a picnic tomorrow in celebration of our heros both here and in heaven.

Design Wall Monday, May 18, 2020

I think this will be my conclusion of Unity Quilt Along.  This is the end of Part 6.  It is getting to be a nice throw size.  After I check out Part 8 that is released today a final decision will be made to go on with it.  I will be skipping Parts 6 and 7.  It has been a fun project!

Next up is the last of the UFOs for Sunshine Quilt Guild.  We haven't had a meeting since March.  Sure hope that we can get together in June.  My UFOs have all been charity quilts for Becky's House.  More on this last UFO in my next post.  Hope you have a nice week ahead.

Design Wall Monday, May 11, 2020

This is Part 4 in progress.  Part 3 still needs the inner neutral borders and then 32 blocks of what you see in progress.  With plenty of medium blues in my posession now that Mom came to my rescue.  I have all units cut and being sewn.

Part 5 makes this project from a square to a rectangle, my prefered shape in larger projects.  It takes 2" neutral squares sewn together for a border and FG of blue/medium blue/red with neutral "skies".

Part 7 is a larger block and yes I will be stopping after Part 5.  The last thing I need is a large project with no plans for an owner.  I wouldn't mind doing the larger projects as charity ones, but I do use my checkbook for quilting and it becomes a bit expensive.  Those who are long arm quilters are lucky to have this at their disposal.

I'm continuing on with Unity QA.  I have really been enjoying this free project with Bonnie.  Take care friends.  Say a little prayer for my niece, her husband and their soon to be born son Greyson.  His birth date has been set for June 2nd.  With his heart defects looming all of his birthing doctors will be ready for whisking him off to surgery.

I have Kwenched finished.  Just love it, don't you?  This design combines both what I know and what I want to get better at...

To say the very least on Friday I was thrilled by what Mom sent my way.  I was right at work cutting more units for Part 4.  I was at a complete stand still with the medium blue not being available.  Only half of the Part 4 units were cut.  Mom to the rescue even without the scraps in hand she was able to match the color perfectly!  Thank you Mom!

The fabrics from Kerry will work perfectly too.  I decided to wait on having her send these until the next part, Part 7, is known.  Not sure I am going to continue making my project larger.  Part 6 has units cut and sewn into red/neutral HSTs...not knowing what is to be done with them.  I have definitely decided to get through Part 5.

Sunday Stash Report, May 3, 2020

Today Blogger has us all with a new format for creating, editing, posting, etc.  It has the same functions as before it appears.  Does look different in its presentation to the user.  I have Unity QA Part 3 complete.  Yes I am a bit behind...

It took me the weekend to finish all the stars that make up Part 3.  I have to sew them together and add the outer sashing that Bonnie Hunter has us adding at the conclusion of each part after the pieced sections.  I started cutting out Part 4.  My  stash is getting weak of medium blues...Mom has some on their way from her stash.  Part 6 goes live tomorrow.  It will be nice to catch up if that is possible.  I think their are eight parts for this quilt along.

Beware! It's Halloween! BOM for May arrived.  Don't tell the folks at Midway Wool Company that I have yet to get started.

Kwenched arrived from Kerry.  Oh my Kerry did such an awesome job with the quilting.  It took quite a bit of back and forth to come up with all the designs she used, but every bit worth it.  I have it all ready to bind.  Nothing changes in the stash count this week.

Design Wall Monday, April 20, 2020

Wish I were working on Kavort or my Unity QA, but alas more masks are being produced in my spare time.

I did cut out and sew together the strips of the inner border of Kavort.  I also sewed the pink/neutral and blue/neutral  HSTs together and pinned them to the Design Wall.  :).  I looked at the instructions for doing more to the Unity QA...does that count?

Sue Spargo's Creative Stitches book arrived.  I will be needing this book to do all the decorative stitches on the Beware! It's Halloween! project when I get it going.  As yet it remains all together in a plastic bag.

Sunday Stash Report, April 19, 2020

Masks are just making it hard to get to my regular projects.  That's okay, I'm glad to help my friends, coworkers, and neighbors.

I received in the mail from my sister her craft made in the form of snowflakes that Kosmo and Kassy found playful enough to destroy.  The mail messed up one of the small brats that will go through the center.  I'll be returning the two good ones to my sister for another projects as they were too small for my snowman.  Karen will be sending my the larger brats that you can see on the one that was used.  You will see that the snowflakes will go on the hat and the pocket.  Thank you Karen!

Unity Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 have been cut and somewhat sewn.  I have yet to put the rounds together which can be done Part 1 to Part 2.  Part 3 is all in cut pieces.  Part 4 is to be introduced tomorrow...I am not ready!

Kavort has seen progress, but little.  I have the pink/neutral and blue/neutral HST borders put together and the green inner border all ready to sew in place.  I think from what Kerry says that the stay stitching around the top edges (a must according to Bonnie Hunter) is the right way to go.  So a stay stitch was done.  Everything is set.

For now though nothing changes my stash stats :(

Design Wall Monday, April 13, 2020

These are all the units for Part 2 of Unity QA.  I haven't made much progress :(

This is where Part 1 left off.

Part 3 was released today and by the end of the day I had these pieces cut.  What is left to cut is the background pieces.  I'll be making 36 stars to go around as another border once Part 2 units are assembled on Part 1.

If the news is to be believed there are a lot of you with time on your hands...can I have some?  I am still working full time...even if it is all from my home.  Stay safe =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, April 12, 2020

Kavort  (Frolic) is off the design wall today...finally!  I'm working on the scary part now; making the four edges straight.  All the triangle tips are being trimmed off leaving just a 1/4" to attach the first of three borders.

The green inner border is ready to put in place.  It is just a spacer between the busyness of the center and the next two borders.  Getting closer to having this project done.

Unity is coming along.  Part 1 is finished.

Part 2 is all cut and ready to piece together.  I was able to use some units from a HST Swap from a few years ago.  It sure is a good feeling to use up what's on hand.  This is easy sewing that I'm looking forward to finishing before tomorrow when Part 3 comes our way.  Unity Shelter-In-Place Quilt Along.

Going through coupons retained from 2020 Road to California Quilt Show...yes I kept them.  One from Private Source Quilting (an Etsy shop) was used for an Andover Laundry Basket Quilts book.  The other from Laundry Basket Quilts directly for a FQ pack of lush blue fabrics and a Little Blue Box of Fabric.  Honestly I didn't expect it to be so "little".  It is more a decoration than useable fabric, but I'll keep it=^.^=

Design Wall Monday, March 30,2020

Another Shelter-In-Place project started.  This is by Bonnie Hunter, Quiltville.  Bonnie calls it the Unity Quilt Along.  Part One came out today.  You can get it along with the following parts every Monday through eight parts.  She has it coming out as a borders mystery that you can stop whenever it reaches the finished size you desire.  Bonnie made hers in reds/navy/aqua and neutrals.  I'll let you hear it from her when you go to her blog.

I am using a lighter blue instead of aqua.  Being that my stash doesn't have much of it left after several projects finished and in the midst.  My blue/neutral units are left overs from Kamikaze.  Kamikaze is from Bonnie's Midnight Flight design.

The only part left to finish is the small outer border and I am ready to face Part Two.
