This is one of the improvised blocks from Frolic that I am assembling for a strip down the back for my Kavort.  I like many had so many of the block units left over they just called out to be used.  Are you familiar enough to notice what has changed?  It has everything to do with the four patches and the solid neutral in the corner.
If you care to search for it; Frolic from yesterday's post.
These are ready to go for another three improvised blocks.
These are parts and pieces that my stash will come out to play with to see if there are any more to make more improvised blocks.  I am looking to assemble a strip that is somewhere around 90" long.  These are pretty large blocks so I don't see having any trouble getting there.  If so, I will be improvising yet some more =^.^=
This is the main back fabric that has been waiting for the right project since one of those must have sales a few years back.
Part 5 of Unity Quilt Along was released today.  Looks like FG are a good part of this next round.  Mind you this is not my project...I am still only on Part 1!

Hope all is well with you and yours.

Sunday Stash Report, April 26, 2020

I can't get a full picture of Kavort, but this is most of it.  Surprisingly the inner border and HST border went on just right.  I am very happy to call this top done.  I will spend the next part of the day putting together a back.  I have one fabric that will cover most of the space, but need to get in one more strip to make it wide enough.  I have lots of left over units that will be assembled to make that strip.  You will see it tomorrow if you return.  This week I'm calling fabric for this project USED!
My nephew has been called back to work.  He works in a restaurant in Virginia and was let go for nearly a month.  He starts next Tuesday doing something a bit different, but he's thrilled to be back and getting a pay check.  He has asked for some "plain Jane" masks which translate to "boring".  I did as he asked black, gray, blue, and green.  He will be surprised to see the lining in the black and gray masks.  Hope he gets over being "21 and must be man" and gets a chuckle out of wearing something with a little "fun"!

A change!

Wish I were working on Kavort or my Unity QA, but alas more masks are being produced in my spare time.
I did cut out and sew together the strips of the inner border of Kavort.  I also sewed the pink/neutral and blue/neutral  HSTs together and pinned them to the Design Wall.  :).  I looked at the instructions for doing more to the Unity QA...does that count?

Sue Spargo's Creative Stitches book arrived.  I will be needing this book to do all the decorative stitches on the Beware! It's Halloween! project when I get it going.  As yet it remains all together in a plastic bag.

Sunday Stash Report, April 19, 2020

Masks are just making it hard to get to my regular projects.  That's okay, I'm glad to help my friends, coworkers, and neighbors.

I received in the mail from my sister her craft made in the form of snowflakes that Kosmo and Kassy found playful enough to destroy.  The mail messed up one of the small brats that will go through the center.  I'll be returning the two good ones to my sister for another projects as they were too small for my snowman.  Karen will be sending my the larger brats that you can see on the one that was used.  You will see that the snowflakes will go on the hat and the pocket.  Thank you Karen!

Unity Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 have been cut and somewhat sewn.  I have yet to put the rounds together which can be done Part 1 to Part 2.  Part 3 is all in cut pieces.  Part 4 is to be introduced tomorrow...I am not ready!

Kavort has seen progress, but little.  I have the pink/neutral and blue/neutral HST borders put together and the green inner border all ready to sew in place.  I think from what Kerry says that the stay stitching around the top edges (a must according to Bonnie Hunter) is the right way to go.  So a stay stitch was done.  Everything is set.

For now though nothing changes my stash stats :(

These are all the units for Part 2 of Unity QA.  I haven't made much progress :(
This is where Part 1 left off.
Part 3 was released today and by the end of the day I had these pieces cut.  What is left to cut is the background pieces.  I'll be making 36 stars to go around as another border once Part 2 units are assembled on Part 1.

If the news is to be believed there are a lot of you with time on your hands...can I have some?  I am still working full time...even if it is all from my home.  Stay safe =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, April 12, 2020

Kavort  (Frolic) is off the design wall today...finally!  I'm working on the scary part now; making the four edges straight.  All the triangle tips are being trimmed off leaving just a 1/4" to attach the first of three borders.
The green inner border is ready to put in place.  It is just a spacer between the busyness of the center and the next two borders.  Getting closer to having this project done.
Unity is coming along.  Part 1 is finished.

Part 2 is all cut and ready to piece together.  I was able to use some units from a HST Swap from a few years ago.  It sure is a good feeling to use up what's on hand.  This is easy sewing that I'm looking forward to finishing before tomorrow when Part 3 comes our way.  Unity Shelter-In-Place Quilt Along.
Going through coupons retained from 2020 Road to California Quilt Show...yes I kept them.  One from Private Source Quilting (an Etsy shop) was used for an Andover Laundry Basket Quilts book.  The other from Laundry Basket Quilts directly for a FQ pack of lush blue fabrics and a Little Blue Box of Fabric.  Honestly I didn't expect it to be so "little".  It is more a decoration than useable fabric, but I'll keep it=^.^=

Kavort is one piece now.  Need to press then cut the tips of the triangles at the edges.  Once Kavort is squared up a small green like the green you can see will be next.  After that two pieced borders of two different HSTs.  This is a large project, Bonnie Hunter's Frolic 2019 Quiltville Mystery.  You aren't missing much but there is a bottom section not in the photo that is identical to the design at the top.

You can see on either side of Kavort three other projects I have been working on.  The top left is from a work shop at 2018 RD2CA called Antique Rose Star by Barbara Black.  Under it are the four blocks that are finished Fit to Frame: Pattern 6 by Lori Smith (she's up to Pattern 16 now).  I work on these usually when I am traveling between home and the East Coast.  Finally poking out from the right side of Kavort is the Sew-in-Place Unity Quilt Along by Bonnie Hunter.  So far I have sewn Part 1.  Part 2 was released today.  I have the instructions printed out but nothing more.

Masks have been occupying my time along with binding Kalypso and Mom's UFO #2.  I will be getting back to the two Bonnie Hunter projects and get the last Sunshine Challenge UFO #6 going.  Those that could from Sunshine Quilt Guild hope to do a VIRTUAL Sharing of our April quilted projects.  I hope a bunch will participate, but it is something new for us all to get comfortable with.  May's meeting was cancelled too along with the annual retreat.  Sad beyond words about the retreat, but it was for the best.  Mom's trip was also cancelled and mine to Kerry's home until all is calm again.  Take care everyone =^.^=

Bones of Bowoes Potion Bottle
Toes of Toads Potion Bottle
Eyes of Eyeboos Potion Bottle
During the week the next month of Beware! It's Halloween! blocks arrived.  These are all potion bottles.  Laugh when I say the names.  This project is starting to get ahead of me...OH MY!  Not a single bock started...EEKS!

Since Friday I have been working on masks, like many of us.  I am using Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt Company pattern.  HERE is the tutorial.  (Don't be judging my hair style.  Like you, these weeks of not being able to get to a salon has not been good.)  I have made 28 masks at this point.  Five were in the mail yesterday to parts north in California.  My neighbors are next to receive and then my veterinarian's office if they want some.  I will be giving them a call tomorrow.  I made my own straps from strips which was by far the longest part of the process.  I did try to make them fun and unisex.  The monster fabric is exactly what is needed to chase this dratted virus into history.  Take care everyone =^.^=
