Design Wall Monday, December 2, 2019

Kurling is all done...ready for displaying this holiday season.  I see it possible to get into more of this type of sewing.  Yes right now I do a little bit of grumbling as I stitch the new frontier, but it's looking better and better with each project.  Kurling is a 2019 UFO that is now marked as DONE!

Kwenched is coming along nicely too.  I stepped back after gluing down several of the next fabrics to applique.  There was binding to do and you know how much I enjoy binding.  My thumb is showing the abuse =^.^=  Kwenched is another 2019 UFO that I would like to see in the DONE category.

As for Frolic's Clue #1.  My project will be called Kavort.  Kavort starts my 2020 UFO List!.  Does it count that I pulled from stash the blues and printed out the instructions?  There is already some catching up to do!

Apparently Maverick knew about this before I did.  I learned that I was to become a first time Great Aunt from Tiffany and Matt just this past weekend.  Congratulations to you both and Maverick of course!

Sunday Stash Report, June 23, 2019

These three came home with me from Kerry yesterday.  You that know me know that I'm happy as a lark to have the binding!  From the left is Knightly, Klover, and Kika.  I'm thinking a scrappy dark blue for Knightly, I have a green/tan stripe for Klover, and Kika has a red of course :)

I'm assembling my guild's 2020 opportunity quilt today and hope to get to the many yo-yos that need to be hand stitched in place during the week.

Winter-ific finished this week.  Still struggling with a cute name.  So I'll claim yardage for it!

Design Wall Monday, June 17, 2019

Yes it is Thursday, June 20...  I've been working all week getting Winter-ific finished.  I wanted to show it to you done.  Tonight is the night that happened.  Finally my 2018 UFO List is complete.  This little one at 22" square needs a "K" name still.  I'm going through my list of saved up names to see what might work; unless you have an idea...

The rest of the week Sunshine Quilt Guild's 2020 Opportunity Quilt will be assembled.  I examined the layout that was at the retreat in May and believe I have it just the way it was (with a few changes).  I trimmed down the wool applique blocks and the 1/4" seams are going to be a challenge without having to remove any of the work.  I will prevail =^.^=.  Jo has offered her help and I still might reach out to her.  Forgotten about all the yo-yos that need attaching between the seams of the outside border!  A back needs to be procured yet and then Kerry will work her quilting magic.  It shows at the San Diego Quilt Show late in August when it will also have tickets offered.

DH is celebrating a birthday Saturday.  At least half of his gift has arrived.  Enjoy your week what's left of it.

Design Wall Monday, April 15, 2019

Winter-ific is coming along.  Doesn't look like much has changed, but the white wool parts are all sewn in place.  I used a satin stitch instead of a blanket stitch.  I need to prep the next wool parts before more stitching takes place.

Koldplay is with binding and sleeve ready for hand sewing.  I will be working on it during the week.

I'll be celebrating the life of Judi Sample, a friend from Sunshine Quilt Guild, on Wednesday.  She will be missed by many.

Sunday Stash Report, March 31, 2019

Winteri-ific is all together except for the border wool/embroidery work.  This will be an ongoing project for a little bit.

Rebecca's Needles is coming along nicely too.  I have all the units together now.  Next will be assembling the top.  I hope to get to this yet today.

Nothing changes the numbers this week.  We will see how far I can get on these two during the week.

Design Wall Monday, March 25, 2019

Today I'm home nursing a cold and sewing on Winter-ific.  These are part of the units that make up the center.

These little 1/2 inch paper pieced HSTs are part of what will make up one of the borders.

The sashing and the outside borders.

Then there is the wool fabrics to finish off the winter scene of snowmen and snowflakes.  This part will be the challenge for me!

Checkerboard Stars is ready to assemble along with the next two.  I'll likely work on this one first.  It is small as are the two that follow.  Checkerboard Stars finishes at 24 x 24.

Starburst will be second unless I get tired of red :)!  Starburst will finish at 24 x 24 too.  Both Checkerboard Stars and Starburst are Pam Buda designs...without "K" names...hint, hint =^.^=

This one is by Lori Bongean called Winer-ific.  It finishes at 19 x 19.  The applique will wait for my return.

This is the applique project, Fit to Frame by Lori Smith, that I have prepared for stitching.  These blocks finish at 6".  The one on the left above was my first block that was stitched during a flight right about this time in 2017.  Not sure when the second block was stitched, but it was probably during a 2018 flight east.  The bottom two are what I will be working on this year.

This one has the trunk in place to start the trip.

This one has no stitching started.  Not sure I like how light the pink berries are on this one.  There might just need to be a change!

Always something at the ready to keep me busy.  Wish me a good flight, great weather, and the rest is covered...awesome good times with my family.

Sunday Stash Report, May 29, 2016

Mom and I went to Beverly's to pick up some thread before the quilting retreat...guess what happened?  The fabric on the top was a nice find in the sale rack for a future backing.  I picked up a couple of fat quarters too that will be used in two projects currently in work.

Then came a shopping spree at Primitive Gatherings.  What a fabulous shop!  I picked up a bunch of FQs; ten as a matter of fact which gave me two more free.  I kept the freebies and Mom has the rest that are all novelties that she will use on future projects.

Then came two terrific kits.  The top Winter-ific and the bottom Clover.  The shop offered a 25 percent off one item for coming to their shop from a quilting retreat put Winter-ific in my cart.  Because it was Memorial Day weekend another 25 percent off project put Clover in my cart too.

Finally these which I got for showing a project I had made or was making.  All said and out the door this week and into my stash.....
