Winteri-ific is all together except for the border wool/embroidery work.  This will be an ongoing project for a little bit.
Rebecca's Needles is coming along nicely too.  I have all the units together now.  Next will be assembling the top.  I hope to get to this yet today.

Nothing changes the numbers this week.  We will see how far I can get on these two during the week.

Today I'm home nursing a cold and sewing on Winter-ific.  These are part of the units that make up the center.
These little 1/2 inch paper pieced HSTs are part of what will make up one of the borders.
The sashing and the outside borders.
Then there is the wool fabrics to finish off the winter scene of snowmen and snowflakes.  This part will be the challenge for me!

Hope your day has less congestion than mine does =^.^=

I have two more 2018 UFOs done.  Getting closer all the time to finishing off my list.  Both of these come from Pam Buda from the Tokens of the Past Gathering in Red.  The one above is Checkerboard Stars.  The one below is Starburst.  Both finish 24 x 24.  They took more time to cut than to sew.  These you know aren't the names they will end up with, but I wanted to show the completions and the numbers growing of yardage used.

These two projects are done.  Soon they will be on their way to Mom.  We both took a workshop late last year with my Mom's sewing guild, Quilters by the Bay.  The one below could be used for either a table runner or a wall hanging.  The technique is similar to a bulls eye, but instead flowers.  In browsing the internet I learned they are called French roses.  HERE is a link to several on Pinterest if you are interested.
I have been referring to them as Sunflowers because of the fabric that was used.  Kerry did a wonderful job with the quilting.  It allows them to ravel, but just enough since she stitched around each layer of the flower (there are four).  Stipple in the background and a nice flower pattern in the borders.
It is difficult to see the ravel, but after one wash with a pair of flip flops (Mom's suggestion) along with 20 minutes in the dryer there is a ravel!
I'm working more on Starburst.  Enjoy your week ahead =^.^=

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

My flight was not meant to be this time.  You may recall that my original plans had me in Maryland mid February.  Due to weather in the area the flight was cancelled and rescheduled for mid March.  Weather again plagued my flight that was to leave this past Wednesday.  Determined it was rescheduled to start two days later on Friday.  Then the cancellation of all flights using the 737 Max 8.  This time just wasn't in the cards.  I took it to mean I wasn't supposed to travel...
So here I am in beautiful San Diego during one of the nicest weeks so far this year.  Just finished my daily walk with the sun shinning and 79'!  I am about to put some thread in my just started Starburst project.  Above are two inch HST to be made into 9-patches.  There are four of these to be made.
The will surround this lovely block which inspired this project's name.  There is no yardage yet to be claimed.  When it does it won't be much since its finished size is 24 inches square.  It will be good to get another 2018 UFO done.

Checkerboard Stars is ready to assemble along with the next two.  I'll likely work on this one first.  It is small as are the two that follow.  Checkerboard Stars finishes at 24 x 24.

Starburst will be second unless I get tired of red :)!  Starburst will finish at 24 x 24 too.  Both Checkerboard Stars and Starburst are Pam Buda designs...without "K" names...hint, hint =^.^=

This one is by Lori Bongean called Winer-ific.  It finishes at 19 x 19.  The applique will wait for my return.

This is the applique project, Fit to Frame by Lori Smith, that I have prepared for stitching.  These blocks finish at 6".  The one on the left above was my first block that was stitched during a flight right about this time in 2017.  Not sure when the second block was stitched, but it was probably during a 2018 flight east.  The bottom two are what I will be working on this year.

This one has the trunk in place to start the trip.

This one has no stitching started.  Not sure I like how light the pink berries are on this one.  There might just need to be a change!

Always something at the ready to keep me busy.  Wish me a good flight, great weather, and the rest is covered...awesome good times with my family.

Kandiyohi is finished completely.  This one is very big at 90 x 104. I will get a better photo once I put up my portable quilt rack.  This makes the third quilt that sits on the floor for the finished photo.  The teal thread used for the quilting is awesome in the feather design.  It shows up real nice against the brown fabric.  You can see more of my finished projects at my website www.kwiltnkats.com.

Nothing to claim either way this week.  I've been getting ready for Sunshine Quilt Guild March meeting and my travel.  Three small projects by Pam Buda, two 6" applique blocks and binding for two sunflower quilts are ready for the doing.  Anxious to be on my way to my parents.

Kosmo seems to like the purple shelter bed =^.^=  Kassy was in it a bit before, but you do know how difficult it is to have the camera ready!

He gave it a go around before the first photo was taken.  Kassy did the very same thing.

It took 150 feet of rope.  Frankly, I think the size is more for a Maine Coon cat or a Cocker Spaniel size animal.  It was an experience to make it.  Think I will try another one soon.  I still have a bunch of 1" strips of purple left in the bag.

I finished February Sunshine BOM before calling the evening quits!  Hope your week is fabulous =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, March 3, 2019

The sides are taking shape!  It seemed large enough to begin the sides.  I was thinking another 4" for the base, but my cats are already fitting inside nicely.  Big enough =^.^=  I have to get some more rope before I continue.  There is already 100 feet of rope in what you see.  The purple scrap bag is emptying quite nicely too...  I have no idea how to count fabric used so I won't.

Kilkenny Kat is all packed and ready for Kerry's Quilting.  I also did a bit more work on Knightley and it's in the bag too.

Kontingency is finished completely now too.  You can see more of my finished projects at my website www.kwiltnkats.com.
