The start of Appalachian Autumn.  There will be 156 neutral/fall color and 156 gray/fall color HSTs.  68 of the neutral/fall color on the left.  19 of the gray/fall color on the right.  The Essential Triangle Tool by Bonnie Hunter makes cutting these 2 1/2" strips a piece of cake.  I have taken all of what you see from my strip stash in this size.  Next I plan to sort through the 3" strips for more of the appropriate colors.  Next it is from yardage stash.  There is a 5" square needed so pulling from yardage will be necessary.  I have already pulled the gray.  I am going for a light to medium gray.  My neutrals are creamy, but I did throw in a batik that is a bit darker.  Variety is everything!  Be thinking of a "K" name for my project...

I received two quilts today from Kerry's Quilting.  Kerry never disappoints me.  The first quilt is the John Deere tractor quilt with tractors in the quilting design done with a light green thread called Willow.  Oh my Violet's grandson is going to love getting a new tractor quilt to replace the one he lost.  Thanks again Mom, Dru, and Kerry for making this possible.

The second is Koney 2 my bunny quilt with a carrot quilting design using bright light green thread.  The tail was stitched down a bit different and I like the result.  I will be sharing these again once the binding is done.

This piano key fell in the wrong spot on Kandy Katz and it is driving me KRAZY!  It must be replaced or I will be drawn to the duplication so close to the matching block every time I look at the project.  It is just one of those things that just needs to be corrected =^.^=  I am so very happy to have found it before it was sent to Kerry for quilting.

We had a rainy day in San Diego today.  Nice to have a change in the weather from time to time.  We really need the rain here as already the news is rumbling about a drought this year.  Take care everyone and enjoy the last week of April.

Sunday Stash Report, April 25, 2021

Kandy Katz is done.  Sorry I could not get this beast entirely in the photo.  It measures 66" x 95".  This is one of my 2021 UFOs.  It is April still and four done, eight to go!  Right on schedule.  I have two in work.  One I plan to share with you tomorrow.  I'll give you a hint on which one that is...Bonnie Hunter.  Not enough?  Check back here tomorrow for Design Wall Monday.

During the week the last of the fabrics I had on order arrived.  These are 1/2 yard cuts of the Secret Stash neutrals.  I am building up to having all of the fabrics needed for the Secret Stash project that is a future project.  The two button packs will be used for the Lori Holt projects, Autumn Love and Vintage Christmas, that are in work.  I'm  still negative so far in 2021, but the projects I have planned this year should soon get me back to positive.

These are cards made by my sister for me to send.  I'm keeping the covers concealed so that they are a surprise when received.  Karen does some beautiful work.  Ever heard of Paper Pumpkin?  Well it has a monthly subscription similar to a BOM but instead is a card kit of the month.  I suppose you could call them COM =^.^=  She is having fun with them.  The April shipment just arrived to her door and already she has the cards made.
Finally, Kosmo wanted to get in on the picture taking action.  He is always around to make sure I get the best photos =^.^=

I am free to work on my own projects!  Well at least until the tractor quilt arrives back from Kerry :)  You see how I am working to finish Kandy Katz (a 2020 UFO).  I am using 2 1/2" strips of cat novelty fabrics.  All the units are done I think??

The strips have either one or two NOT cat novelty fabrics in them just to mix things up a bit.  I will be sewing into the back one block that didn't make it to the front.  Can't leave out my red eyed cat!

Hope your week is terrific!  I'm anxious for the mail to arrive today...I think more fun awaits me.

Sunday Stash Report, April 18, 2021

I have Emma's shower gift done, wrapped, and ready to mail first thing tomorrow.  There should be no problem arriving in time for Cara's Virtual Baby Shower on Saturday.

This is how Kanary turned out.  I'm am very pleased and know that Cara will be for Emma.  I love all the low volume neutrals that have gone in to its making.

The quilting turned out perfect too.  Two close ups for you to identify the bird amongst the circular designs.

Purchases from RebsFabStash and Bella Rose Quilts arrived during the week.  The FQ Bundle with the new Man Cave collection plus a FQ from the new Thomas & Friends collection.  These are a stash enhancement as there are no particular plans for their use.  The blue FQ will likely find its way into Winter Blues project and the others who knows.  The Bella Rose Quilts purchase gives me what is needed for Witch's Night Out that I am anxious to start.  Bella Rose Quilts has all fabrics All Hollows Eve if you are in need of them.  Prices are great!

April BOM

May BOM

April's Sunshine Quilt Guild virtual meeting was Tuesday evening.  We had a Naturescapes presentation by Nanette Zeller that was good.  I am not much interested in this type of quilting, but it was interesting.  The UFO Challenge that I have been coordinating has one more month to reveal (#1).  The hearts table runner called Kupid's Kisses was my #6 reveal this month.  The BOM was won, but not by me.  I do have an interest in winning next month's BOM.  We did play the Guess How Many Scraps game this month with three winners as two tied for guessing the closest.

I have nothing to claim as used this week, but once again I am adding.  I have a few more fabrics to arrive this week and then I plan to seal up my wallet unless I positively need something!  I have been pulling cat novelty fabric from my 2 1/2" strips to create the piano key border for the Kandy Katz project that is fully in work now that my commitments are satisfied for the time being.  The new sewing machine is in use.  I have some learning to do and a bit of a wait on the insert for the sewing cabinet to arrive.

Everything needed is in my sewing room today to work on until I finish Kandy Katz.  I'm getting my thread ready and the project bag opened.  Everyone wants to see this project finished =^.^=

There will be a short intermission to finish and put in the mail Kanary that is expected to arrive on Tuesday from Kerry.  Remember there is a race to have it to a baby shower in Texas by April 24th.  I also have Sunshine Quilt Guild's April meeting tomorrow night.

May sewing commence on Wednesday!

Sunday Stash Report, April 11, 2021

Koney 2 is finished.  Just at 27" x 29" it will be perfect for the desk nook in the kitchen.  Not sure what I'll use for a binding right now.  His fuzzy little tail is just 3 1/2" round.  This tail won't get quite the attention as Greyson has been spending with his Easter quilt.

Greyson's quilt didn't get there until a day after Easter, but I suppose he doesn't really know yet what day Easter came this year.

I also finished the second Tractor quilt.  This one is made to replace the first quilt that sadly was lost in a house fire.  The little guy who is six now missed his special quilt so much that he shed many tears about it being gone.  Several wonderful folks have come together to gift him this Tractor quilt.  Thanks to the loving hearts of Mom, Dru (Primitive Gatherings), and Kerry for helping me to make this gift of love.  Kerry will have it next for quilting.  Binding next for me and soon there won't be any more tears.

When Kerry was here we discussed that I might not have enough florals to make the April Sunshine Quilt Guild BOM.  Florals just aren't that abundant in my stash.  Kerry mentioned she would send me some.  Well she sent me enough to make two and then some.  Turns out in my scraps I was able to scrape up enough for another and before long I had made four.  If I win these blocks, chances are good with four entries, a scallop border is planned.  I might add a bit of lace to the border too.

The mail brought me many fine things this week.  Fat Quarters Shop, BellaRoseQuilts, and Stitchin Heaven had these items until they were delivered to my door!

No this isn't something on my Design Wall :)  Just thought it was really funny...don't you agree?

Koney 2 is on my Design Wall...for real :).  It was fun working on my smaller bunny project yesterday between dinner preparation and dessert making or our Easter Feast.  I have the units sewn into rows.  All of this with my Professional 5.0.

The rows to rows and all beyond will be sewn with my new toy, Professional ICON.  Tomorrow I'll be taking my Kola insert to be sized to Paradise Sewing.  From this measurement Paradise Sewing will work with Kola to get me a new one going.  What you see now is not the final arrangement, but it will work for a time.  If it doesn't I can always put the 5.0 back and wait to use the ICON until the new insert is in my hands.  There is some learning ahead for me...just to wind a bobbin and thread the machine=^.^=  I think it is going to be a late dinner tonight!

Sunday Stash Report, April 4, 2021

Happy Easter!  Here's a finish with a springtime flair :)  Kanary is all set for quilting!  I'm on track for being able to get this one to Texas for Cara's Baby Shower for Emma on April 24th.

Kerry is in town and we met up at Rosie's Calico Cupboard Quilt Shop on Friday.  I continued to drain my wallet.  I purchased a whole host of fabrics and a couple of goodies.  These two fabrics are for Kanary.  The top piece for the back and the bottom for the binding.  I didn't want a white fabric for either parts of the quilt because it is for an infant and needs to be forgiving.

Before I go into more purchases from my shopping spree with Kerry...  I treated myself to a new machine on Thursday.  The Phaff I had been using was a Professional 5.0.  I'd had it since 2015 and you know how much I sew.  It was definitely time, especially after a careless meeting of needle to point of a scissors.  This is the cremedelacreme of a quilters machine.  I need the insert to use in my Koala cabinet that is to be part of the deal along with the Professional 5.0 being a trade-in.  So for now I'm using the 5.0 and the ICON is waiting to start its time with me.

Back to my Rosie's spree...  Picked up a wide back (at 15% off) and the binding for my Kandy Katz project.  I will be putting cutting the stripe at a diagonal to keep the fun going with this project.

Friday is Rosie's special deal off FQs so these three came home with me to use in Winter Blues by Bonnie Hunter.  I'm just now starting the collection of fabrics for this project.

I need to get quite a bit more of the Secret Stash fabric collection by Laundry Basket Quilts to complete the fabric requirements for Secret Stash.  I've been adding in the neutrals to reach free shipping requirements for my online purchases.  There's two heading my way right now.  I'll be looking for a good deal on the FQ bundles of the Neutral and Warm colors.

This sweet neutral came home too.  There should be enough for a background.  My only fabric purchase enhancement that is just because :)

Earlier in the week I was excited to see a sample of this project called Hocus Pocus.  I found the kit on ETSY from Bella Rose Quilts at a great price.  I don't have it yet, but this is expected in during the week.

I should also be receiving the backing for the tractor quilt and another of the patterns that use the All Hallow's Eve fabric collection called Pumpkin Trio.  And now I'm on the hunt for more of this fabric to make Witch's Night Out another using the All Hallow's Eve collection.  Yes I do like the collection =^.^=  So all said and done I have a fairly good size to report as used in Kanary and a huge size to claim as purchased.  As you can read though...there are plans to use it all with only one frivolous purchase.

I'm away to the sewing room to make progress on my bunny project which is yet again a bit smaller than the original project for Greyson pictured above.  Koney 2 will be ready for my Easter 2022.  Hope your Easter basket is as full as mine has been this week!

I had a fabulous day with Kerry on Friday.  We shopped at Rosie's for several hours and enjoyed a lunch at the Brigantine.  She's here for visit and I'm so happy to have had part of it on Friday.
