Sunday Stash Report, August 23, 2026

 

Two more Teddy Bears are finished.  There are five more to stitch that I will be tackling on the plane.  These are easy to work on and will consume much of the 10 hours flight time to and from my parents.

Stash enhancements from Rosie's for the commissioned Flutter project.  The pink check will be for the back and the two on the right are for the main wings of the last two butterflies.

The best purchase was the replacement Creative Grids ruler.  I sure did miss this ruler size from the most unfortunate Accuquilt cutter debacle.

Two projects arrived from Kerry YEAH!  Kordia Krunch is one of them.  The fabric at the top right is the backing and sleeve.  I'll be looking for enough solid red to bind it with.  I'm hopeful that there will be something from my stash.

The third and last (for now) table runner is ready to bind and label.  It will be heading to mom in a package with lots of other goodies early this week.

So for now I have just three yards to add that will soon be counted in the used stats.  Have a wonderful Sunday.

Sunday Stash Report, August 16, 2026

This is a 2026 UFO finish!  Kerry and I took the workshop Confetti by Jemina Flendt at Road to California this year.  This was the project using the pattern When Perfect Isn't the Point.  I used the scraps mainly from two projects and Pam helped me out from one project that we both made.  Neither project had much black so I added in a bit more that worked well with the other scraps.

Which name do you like better Krinkle or Krimped?  Crinkle is the name of the paper you find in shipping boxes.  Crimped is the process that paper goes through to make it crinkle.

I'm thinking Krinkle sounds "holidayish".  Surprised I never thought to use it for a Christmas project.  Crimped sort of works as it is all the leftover fabric from three different projects.  I would use Konfetti, but it has already been used on another of my projects.  I'll wait for your help...don't let me down =^.^=

This week I will claim for the yardage it takes to build this 60" by 60" project.  Nothing purchased this week.  Next up in the sewing queue is Flutter.

Sunday Stash Report, August 9, 2026

 

I met up with my sewing friends on Thursday and Friday at Rosie's this past week.  I picked up two 1/4 yards of fabric for Spider & the Fly project.  I should have waited until Friday because all the Halloween fabrics were on sale.  Not a big discount since this purchase only ended up to be 1/2 yard total.  My project is going along briskly.  I'm deep into the 25 Block As.  My project is using mostly white/black as the backgrounds.  It isn't necessarily a Halloween quilt, but the colors lean towards that theme.

These came home with me too.  They are all for the butterfly/flower quilt called Flutter that I have commissioned to make.  Pretty excited by the background fabric.  I will be working on this one after my Spider & the Fly Block As are done.

I did look at Rosie's for the 6 1/2 x 12 1/2 Creative Grids ruler to replace my oops with the Accuquilt cutter.  She has them on order and I am slated to get one when the three arrive.  I need this ruler =^.^=

I did finish the tie quilt's binding.  I have buttons to add to the colars yet.  Mon's table runner 2 is nearly bound; just one long side to go.  Until next time.

Sunday Stash Report, August 2, 2026

 

I had a helper this weekend.  Don and Rita were our house guests for the weekend.  The "boys" like playing video golf (lots of it) so Rita and I are left to entertain ourselves.  I have this project for Sunshine Quilt Guild going on to reduce the overwhelming amount of donated fabric that is part of the Cuddle Quilt Program,  My Accuquilt Big Go! was working overtime cutting 10" and 5" squares for making layer cakes and charm packs.  Rita is a crafter, but not a quilter.  She picked up the 5" square template and ran with it.  We have nearly cleared a large tote pan of fabrics :)

Next came the part of coordinating squares into cakes or packs.  It takes a lot of variety to bring one together.  We managed to make four this time around.  Later I will be meeting up with Lorna of Sunshine Quilt Guild to get more from the stash to create more cakes and packs with that variety I spoke about.

Looking forward to making these cakes and packs available for a screaming deal; just one quarter of the price of fabric.

Sunday Stash Report, July 26, 2026

This charity quilt is made from mom's stash with a little help from mine.  I am at the point of putting the sashing together.  Purple is what the binding will be; it matches the purple in the sashing.  There is one more project planned with the pinks from this project.

Since Wednesday my Accuquilt Go has been busy cutting layer cakes and charm packs.  The project is with the cuddle quilt fabrics of Sunshine Quilters.  I am taking a break from all the standing that it takes to sort, iron, prepare and finally put through the cutter.  The results are great so far.  We will be selling these precuts at one-quarter the price of yardage.  You can do whatever you wish with the precuts; they aren't only available for the making of cuddle quilts.

Not much to share on any of my projects.  Not any change to stash either.  Above all I am trying to stay cool during this hot and humid weather patternwe are in the midst of here in San Diego.

This one is done!  Kordia Krunch came together since Wednesday.  I had a bit of a delay making up my mind on the inner border.  I thought a solid white until I found this half yard in my stash.  It has dots just enough not to be so stark.  It will be off to Kerry sometime this week.

Even though it was a Rosie's week...I stayed out of the store so there is only a USED to my stash this week.

I will be working on one of the two workshops project that were started at Road to California earlier this year.  You will have to check out my Monday Design Wall post to see it.  It is a UFO and real far along.  I also have another of mom's projects to work on.  I think this project is the last of fabrics brought home with me last Fall.  Mom...make sure you let dad know that this Fall's trip I am coming to use up more!

Sunday Stash Report, July 12, 2026

 

Klarity arrived yesterday from Kerry.  The quilting design is very pretty.  It shows up nicely on the solid purple borders.  I have been preparing the binding and should be hand stitching it on later tonight.

I think I shared the first block with you already, but here it is again if not.  This is the stamped cross stitch project I am working on currently, Teddy Bears.

Block two.  He is taking a nap with his pacifier.

Block three has him playing with a duck toy.

Block four has him in his high chair all set with his duck bib and bowl at the ready.

Block five has him wrapped up in a blanket.  You can see he's not quite finished.  All the bears use the same three floss colors and the diaper, pacifier, and duck are throughout the 12 blocks using the same floss colors.  I love the expressions.

I finished the second table runner from mom's stash during the week.  This project will have a white backing.  I'm still holding out on what color to use for the binding.  I like the idea of the green, but there isn't quite enough.  My second choice is the dark pink, but once again there isn't quite enough.  The medium pink and the purple along with the border print have enough fabric to get around.  We will see when the time comes.

Sunday Stash Report, July 5, 2026

 

Let me start the day with fabrics purchased.  It was a day at Rosie's to get the last fabrics for a few projects.  This first background fabric was needed to complete a table runner from my mom's stash gathered last August.

Next up is the darker pink at the bottom of this photo for Kittens.  The two pieces on top were also considered along with countless grays.  I did settle on the darker pink and the binding prepared along with half way around on the hand stitching.  This is as cute as the Ducks from all that I have cross stitched to date.

I am trying to add to a lone Winnie the Pooh redwork block that my grandmother made.  I found these embroidery transfers, but they are a bit to small.  A suggestion was to stitch them out and than go from there on a design for the project.  Well I really didn't want to go that way so back to ETSY to find embroidery transfers thta were larger.  With a little help from the ETSY Seller, I found larger "Hoop" sized PDFs that she sells.  She led me to understand how to go about using the PDFs.  Needless to say I have the PDFs and now waiting on Amazon to bring me the transfer paper that will work with my printer.  The purchase of fabric here is two whites that closely work well with the original fabric.  Wish me luck with this new for me endeavor.

These last three fabrics had the Rosie's group helping me audition.  The two blues in the first photo one out.  I decided adding, although I like it, the red made the project look too patriotic for my liking.  The blue diagonal print was quite literally found by chance.

Here is the table runner complete.  I have another focus fabric to work with for a second of this design.  I will be working it into my queue =^.^=

Here is the Joe's Ties quilt top complete.  Right now the plan is to use the outside border fabric as the binding too.  I am real excited to have this done in plenty of time before it is needed for Christmas.

Sunday Stash Report, June 28, 2026

Since my Wednesday Workings post I have continued to work on Joe's ties project.  I will be sharing an update tomorrow on my Design Wall.  Needless to say it is coming along pretty good.  Tim remarked that the project should be getting close since that is all I have been spending my time on LOL.  Pictured above are the continuing 2.5 x 4.5 string strips in neutral for Cherry Crunch.  I still have a ways to go needing a total of 488 units.

Kassy was bothered by me moving her so I could continue trimming down to the unit size all the sets I stitched at Saturday's Sew In with my Sunshine Quilt Guild in Lakeside.  We had a great showing of 23 members sewing their various projects.  Everyone is always astounded by the sheer number of units Bonnie Hunter requires for her designs.  At this point I have used up all the long enough 1.5, 2, and 2.5 strips.  I debated on whether to start right off cutting into yardage once the 1.5 strips were spent, but decided to refresh my 2 and 2.5 strips instead.  I have a bunch of neutral yardage to do this.  Let me see another 140 units to go...  I will be putting this project away when the trimming is done to finish the Joe's ties project the rest of the week.

For now nothing to report that changes my stash.

Sunday Stash Report, June 21, 2026

 

Thanks to Pam in getting me started on the blanket stitch that this project was needing to call it a finish.  I helped her with HSTs and she helped me with the scalloped edge.  Of all the hangers I own, I didn't have one that would fit just right, but this hanger will work just as well.  Now to decide where to hang this 2023 UFO...

Katchfly is also a complete finish.  The charcoal binding is perfect for the last touch on this Bonnie Hunter design called Moonflower.  As I worked on this project I thought about how a teal versus the yellow might be fun too.  One is enough for me with this design =^.^=

As for stash, I won't count the wool project of Love Is All You Need.  I will be claiming Kommitted that was finished earlier this week.  I am working now on Joe's ties that is a commissioned project for a Christmas Gift.  Oh boy, trying to update the 1994 pattern...wow we've come a long way quilters!  Nothing purchased this time, yeah.

The setting triangles have all been sewn onto the 20 blocks.  There are three block layouts spread throughout the top.  We had weekend company that prevented me from time in my sewing room to put the final blocks and rows together.  It will not take much time now for Kommitted to complete.  

I will have to piece the back with scraps from the white/blue prints used, but I knew this would be since the cute pac-man novelty fabric purchased would not be enough.

For now this project will wait for more sewing time!  The used category will have a change next week.

Sunday Stash Report, June 7, 2026

Klarity is into a top.  I was able to pick up from Rosie's the purple, black, and white/purple fabrics I needed to finish.  Yesterday I set out to put it all together.  It sure is a beauty.  I also picked up the binding that will be used once Kerry does her magic.

These are the fabrics from Rosie's that I got on Thursday.  The top piece is for the binding.

These fabrics came home on Thrusday too.  The one on the left is so darn cute.  Animals doing yoga poses and the words describing the pose.  This piece will be used for Cherry Crunch backing.  Cherry Crunch is in work now.  The one on the right is for Kommitted that has all the blocks and setting triangles finished finally.  The setting triangles took the longest sewing time.  I worked on it both Thursday and Friday during the two day Rosie's sew day.  You can see how it looks with tomorrow's design wall post.

So although there is a bunch added to my stash there is a big used in Klarity's finish.

Sunday Stash Report, May 31, 2026

Katchfly is finished.  I pressed it along with the backing yesterday.  Today it will be packaged up along with Kittens and some strips of gray for Kerry's Moonflower.  I have found a charocal large enough for the binding that will be ready for this project when it returns.  This is a 2026 UFO.  I have only four 2026 UFOs left to finish =^.^=

I also finished Love Is All You Need a 2023 UFO.  This was a tough project for me because it was wool and embroidery stitches that I had never executed before.  I will be looking for the appropriate clip board to mount it on.  I still have one 2023 UFO left to finish =^.^=

I have rows to sew together and the border to put on Klarity.  I finished all the blocks at the annual guild retreat earlier this month.  Believe it or not I don't have enough black or purple for the borders and neither enough for backing.  It is a Rosie's sew week where I will be looking for what I need to finish this Bonnie Hunter project called September Sky.  (I will photograph better next time!)

Sunday Stash Report, May 24, 2026

Now it is time to press each of these blocks and start stitching together in rows.  My Moonflower is looking pretty good.  There is no border for this Bonnie Hunter design.  It will finish with a gray binding.  I like the way the secondary design comes into play.  A star is formed as well as the center of the flower.  I will need to move a few blocks around because the center of the flowers are quite prominent.  This will be somewhat challenging as I did not use a lot of variety in the yellow fabric.  Game on =^.^=

I did finish the secret project and look forward to the gifting that will come soon.  Next up after Moonflower is September Sky.  September Sky is in shades of purple with black and neutrals.  Quite a bit of sewing was done at the recent retreat I attended in Temecula.

Nothing changes stash numbers today.  There should be a change next week.

Sunday Stash Report, May 17, 2026

My Kittens is complete =^.^=  Like all my projects...I like this one too!  I have a jumbo gray ric rac to add between the top and the binding once it's quilted.  Now to decide on what quilting design to put in the sashing?  Kittens will be mailed to Kerry sometime this week.  I have some strips for Kerry's Moonflower to share that will be included in the package.  It has been hard to locate charcoals.

Speaking of Moonflower, I have all three rows of the 1/2 block sewn.  Today I am working to put the three rows together and then the block of two of these 1/2 blocks to make one block.  This should go together pretty quick.  I am starting to think of a "K" name for my Moonflower...help me please.

For now I will claim Kittens as used fabric and happily report that no fabric was added to my stash.

Happy Mothers Day!  Today is the day to celebrate our mothers.  In the past I would have my mom with me at the annual Sunshine Quilt Guild Retreat.  Mom isn't traveling as she once did so I miss her (and so do the others at the Retreat).  One of the activities this year was to bring a photo of your mom.  I had to dig deep because most everyone's mom is not known to the rest of us.  My mom photo was her at La Jolla Cove taken in the 90s.  It actually stumped some that know her.  Happy Mothers Day (as well as Grandmothers).

We have a token exchange and door prizes each year.  This was my winnings; less an excellent cookie from Christy =^.^=

I had hoped to get much further along than one block on Moonflower, but I didn't check my project container one last time to make sure it was complete.  Sadly, I was missing the 2 1/2" neutral squares.  I was able to find enough to make one block and this is it darn it all.  I did get all the HSTs sewn.  This was the first project to tackle.  I put it away and started in on September Sky.

September Sky took me all weekend.  I had all the individual units of the two different blocks sewn in my project container.  Thankfully I didn't forget anything here.  The blocks at the top took me all day Friday and Saturday; finishing up on Sunday morning.  They will get ironed next and onto the design wall once Kittens is together and off the design wall.

No other projects were worked on (I had two others...just in case).  No quilt shops in Temecula currently.  Not a place to shop and not a finished project.  Stash stays the same as last week.

Sunday Stash Report, May 3, 2026

Getting the Flying Geese done for September Sky.  They are all sewn.  Need to press open and trim a bit.  Today I am working on the HSTs for the project.  All units are cut.  These are being stitched and will also require a press open and trim.  These parts are the last of what is needed for block assembly.

Cherry Crunch, has lots cut out, but I know not all of it.  I worked on this Friday at Rosie's until the fabrics I had with me ran out.  I have lots of reds in my stash to bring in what's needed.  A few neutrals were cut too.  If I get to this project during the retreat I will just sew until I have nothing more to continue. There would be a big chunk of the project done with what I have in the tote.

Moonflower is all cut and ready to stitch.  Right now I'm thinking it will be my first project to work on at the retreat.

True Blue is well on it's way through cutting.  It is in a similar state as Cherry Crunch; I will sew until my tote runs out of fabric.  

I had hoped to finish Kittens for something to change my Stash Report numbers.  I didn't purchase anything at Rosie's this past Friday so there is no change at all.  I have Kittens on my Design Wall that I will share with you tomorrow.
