These are the last five blocks that have been finished.  I'm running out of fabrics!  Looks like there will be an addition to the stash on next week's calculation.  Do you have a favorite among these five?  Mine has to be the last one.  I like the lighter hint of purple and the brighter setting.  I'm trying to spread the amount of blocks that are with lighter purple and lighter settings in among the darker fabrics.  This will be leading me to make appropriate selections of new fabrics that will be a must before I can continue.
I did the math with the end result being that today I'm not even halfway done making these blocks.  Halfway would be 21 blocks.  The blocks are 15" finished with sashing 3" finished.  Then there is a small 1.5" inner border and finally a 3" outer border.  All of the sashing and both borders are pieced.  This will be a BIG quilt!  Six blocks across by seven blocks down and all the sashing and borders.  Oh my gosh.  I'm sure this will end up the largest quilt I've made to date.

March is coming...let's hope the weather is a little less wet and cold!

Sunday Stash Report, February 26, 2023

So excited to get Oh Say...Can You Sew! back from quilting.  It had a little bit of an issue arriving from Kerry.  It did come safe and sound.  Now I'm working on the binding.  I chose a blue print to match the bright blues used in the quilt.  I have one side done already, turned the corner (which came out perfect), and on to the second side.  This one is big at 84 x 104 inches.  It will definitely keep me with DH in my favorite chair, both cats snuggled around me as the binding is stitched.

These are pieces for the next blocks to be stitched.  There are five sets with the middle portion of four already finished.  I'll be working on the middle of the fifth next.  These area all lacking the HSTs so they will be cut next to complete these blocks.

I like the purple in this block.  One strip will give me enough for two blocks where the hint of purple comes in.
Here comes the HSTs of emerald green and neutral.  I'm off to the races!  Next stop twenty blocks =^.^=

Nothing changes the numbers, but as you can see I'm working on it!  Have a great week ahead and enjoy the first days of March.

13 blocks for Emerald Chilhowie grace my Design Wall right now.  I have four more cut and ready to stitch.

This photo is less the HST units, but you can see that there is a lot of pieces to each block.  To the front side of the table are the four blocks each row left to right is the making for the four 4-patch and the four 9-patch units needed for one block.  On the back side of the table are the rest of the units for the four blocks each row top to bottom.  I like to assembly line stitch in batches.  Four blocks worth in this case fills up the surface space on my sewing table.

This past Saturday was the day the new mom received her Stars of the Forest quilt.  She was quite happy with the quilt.  This is a photo of the happy parents to be on either side of the grandma who gifted the quilt.  Below their smiling faces is a full on photo of the quilt.  It was real fun to make it bringing in the paper piecing technique I enjoy.  Which animal is your favorite?  The mom to be says hers is the fox!  Good luck parents to be =^.^=

Block 8

Continued making the blocks for Chilhowie this past week.  Several of them were already cut and ready to sew.  Assembled that I had prepared and then starting cutting more.

Block 9

Block 10

Block 11

Block 12

I made one other, but forgot about those four matching to the HSTs setting pieces and of course I didn't have any more of the HST fabric to make them.  So I sent out to see if my stash would find it miraculously :(  No such luck!  I think it may have been from my Mom's stash.  Oh well these were options I found and then guess what my final selection was...

Block 13 with Options

You would think the one on the top would be perfect...not!  So you take a stab at a good match...I'll put them out there one by one.

Option 1

Option 2
Option 3

Well?  I decided that I didn't like any of the three.  So instead I will use...

The fabric from the center four blocks.  Something to be discussed years to come...just why did the quilter make this block different :)  Frankly, making the Bonnie Hunter designs all scrappy as I tend to do no one will be the wiser =^.^=

Today I will be working on the next four blocks.  Twenty is my block quantity goal before I do the math to see how far away I am from what I need to make a 102" wide by 112" long quilt.  Nothing changes my stats again this week.

Block 5
I haven't put the blocks on my Design Wall yet.  I still need to figure out how many blocks I will need to make for a California King bed.  I am thinking it needs to be the size of the flat sheet plus a couple of inches that will be taken up in the quilting.  At this time I know I need a bunch =^.^=

Block 6

Block 7
The triangles above each block are to be fit into the sashing.  Each set of 4 triangles need to match the HSTs in the block.  The sashing will be neutral, green, and more 9-patch units as in the block.  I have a few more blocks ready to be assembled.  Well, what do you think so far?
I made sure today to finish the January Sunshine BOM coordinated by Christy.  The white was provided along with the instructions.  Participants were to make one red/white and one black/white block.  I like the way these turned out.  Sunshine meets tomorrow with Dawn Heese as our Speaker.  Everyone is excited about Dawn.  If you want to know more about her head over to her website Linen Closet Designs.

Hope you have a nice Valentine's Day and enjoy the rest of the week.

Block 1

The first block has been sewn together.  I like the color distribution so I will continue in this fashion for the rest of the blocks.  I already tapped my Mom's emerald greens.  My stash is nearly tapped out as well of emerald greens.  Darn, guess I will have to go to Rosie's!  I am off next Friday.  You might find me in the greens when Rosie opens her doors =^.^=

Block 2

Block 3

Block 4

As you can see I am moving right along!  Nothing changes my stats this week, but I forecast a change for my next report.  Hope you are doing what you want today.  Whether it be watching the Super Bowl game, the Super Bowl commercials, Super Bowl half time show, or in your sewing room.

These are the first of the blocks that I will be playing around with the fabric placement.  Lots of emerald green now!  None of these units have been sewn together, but will be once I am happy with the look.  I have another few blocks ready to put on the wall and then there will be more to put together after those.

This project is going to take some time.  Thankfully I have about four months to get it done.  I hope you have a wonderful week ahead =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, February 5, 2023

As you can see I have been busy putting units together for Chilhowie.  Above two photos are 11 blocks worth.  I already had three blocks done; so now there are 14 ready to assemble.  There are 16 in the original design.  I am not certain, but think I will need eight more and perhaps another two borders.

I did make a silly mistake, but not too bad.  The 4-patch units on the bottom left are the correct size.  The top right were made too big!  No need to take them apart, just need my rotary cutter to trim to the correct size.

I will share my project tomorrow on Design Wall Monday.  For now there is nothing to change my stats.  This project will take some time to stitch.  It is a commission project for a wedding gift.  The colors are in the wedding celebration.  I suppose it will be a nice reminder of the special day for the bride and groom.
