As promised, I have been busy dreaming about how to put this SpongeBob Bikini Bottom project together.  My dreams are now materializing.  I first started with the ocean.  Lighter at the top then moving down into deep waters.  The sand was a little easier with only three fabrics.  There are slight curves with both ocean and sand; the ocean being a bit more curvy.  Look close and you will see three flower clouds.  There is one piece of coral too.  The WOF strips in varying sizes will be sewn down raw edge.  Once the portions of the pineapple are determined I will adjust both ocean and sand then sew in place.  The blue painters tape on the sides is as long as the ocean section and sand section should be.  There will be some trimming for the width.  The tape in the center is where the pineapple (SpongeBob's home) should be.

Today I am starting in on the pineapple.  I will also work on seaweed that will be sewn on the left side of the pineapple.  Anxious to see how this project continues to unfold.

That's it for now.  I should have pictures with the pineapple on my next post.

I finished Krimped today.  There was just one side to stitch the binding in place when I sat down for TV time.  Oh, there was also the sleeve.  All done before bedtime.  Funny how the name came about.  I was looking for a name that fit in with the name of the project, Confetti.  You might wonder why I didn't just change the name to Konfetti...  I have a project already called that so I dug a bit deeper into the word.  Came up with crimped which is the paper in packaging materials; those strings of paper crinkled up like a slinky.  (I'll be saving Krinkled for a Christmas project).  The fabrics in Krimped came from two projects along with the help from Pam's scraps too.  I tossed in a few blacks that worked well and here you go.

This was Krimped just before the hand stitching started.  I wondered if the thread would be enough.  It was and then some =^.^=

Now on to a new project.  Arms Wide Open is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of children and adults with special needs.  The organization reached out to Sunshine Quilt Guild to make theme related quilts for theater productions.  The quilt will become part of a raffle for theater patrons to try their luck to win.  This year the guild was selected to make a quilt for Addams Family performed in October and SpongeBob in November.  Christy made for Addams Family and I am making for SpongeBob.  The fabrics above are the start of this Gemini AI generated project.  Green and golds for SpongeBob's home along with aquas and tans for the surroundings of his home, Bikini Bottom.

Here I'm making felted wool flower clouds and coral.  I'm trying to achieve a dimensional project.  These flower clouds appear in every episode.  They appear in the sky and come in various colors. When in Bikini Bottom, they appear normally, but when outside of the town, they appear stretched out and distorted.  Mine are in the Bikini Bottom just outside of town in purple, pink, and dark blue.  The tan shape is coral of course.  Next up will be making sand...  Check back on my next post (Wednesday Workings) to see the start of my Bikini Bottom!

Here's a 2026 UFO finish.  I have yet to give this project called Popsicles an appropriate "K" name.  That will come shortly.  I am sure one can be figured out...perhaps Kreams.  Sherberts are sometimes made with cream.  Well heck without further ado Kreams it is!

Kreams will have this checkered backing and the lighter green as binding.  Another off the 2026 list.

The Owls and Pumpkins went together much faster than I'd thought.  It too is a smaller project and a 2023 UFO.  These were the fabrics used.

First to go together were the owl bodies and pumpkins.  I had no trouble finding suitable fabric from my stash.  This project included a new technique for me.  The selcra was made using Applipops.  I used my tried and ture Avery Label paper for the wings.

When I get it back from Kerry the pupils will be added to the owls; because they will be black buttons.  The first row will be sewn in place looking down, the center owl will be looking straight ahead, and the last row of owls will be looking up.  If Kerry can add a viney squiggle to the top of the pumpkin stalk in green it will be great.  This project will be called Kryptic.  Nice getting one of these older UFOs behind me.  I still have a few more to go, but I am slowly cutting into them =^.^=

For this week three projects done (one shared with you on Wednesday) and not a single thread purchased!

Used this week: 7.5 yards
Used YTD: 232.75 yards
Purchased this week: 0 yards
Purchased YTD: 58 yards
Net used in 2026: 174.75 yards

I had a bunch of scraps from Katydid that I was putting away.  It came to me to make a charity quilt.  Since many of the scraps were large enough for a 5" square and 5" x 2.5" wide to put together and shimmy down to 5".  The inner border and outter border also scraps.  Now it will be up to Lorna to find a suitable back in the charity stash that Sunshine has collected.

I pulled fabrics and started in on the cutting of Popsicles.  This is one from the 2026 UFO list.  A simple table runner with a twist.  I will be working on stitching this project today.

I will be trying to listen to a book (The Alice Network) while sewing, but the Blue Angels are out practicing for the show being held this weekend in San Diego.  There will be lots of pauses...

Happy Wednesday =^.^=

Teddy Bear blocks continue to be my hand stitching project in the evenings.  The one on the slide finished and the one with the bear doing a cartwheel started soon afterward.  There are only two more blocks to go.

I am about to start into the UFOs again.  Popicles will be the first.  It is a 2026 UFO.  I like the way the popicles dance on this table runner.  My stash should have all the fabric needed for this summertime table runner.

Owls and Pumpkins was inspired to make for my great nephew Greyson.  He had a liking for owls when he was a couple of years younger.  This is a 2023 UFO that he probably has no interest in anymore.  I plan to make it anyway.

That's all folks =^.^=

Katydid is complete.  Thanks to everyone who pointed out a wrong twist of a unit.  This project is full of hour glass units along with the busy fabrics.  It was crazy difficult to see a mistake had been made.  I'll be putting together a backing today.  I have to piece a backing so it will be fun coming up with it using a three yard piece of Halloween novelty and 10" squares.  Maybe the extra made hour glass units (24) will find a place too.

This is the one add for the week past.  You can see it has already been used and might used again in the backing.  On Friday I was able to finish the scrappy black binding.  I look forward to using it when Katydid has made it's round trip to Kerry's.  My next Bonnie Hunter project will be her annual Winter Mystery!

On Friday as well I started in on Witches Feet Table Runner by Block Party Quilt Company.  I had previously made Elf Feet Christmas Table Runner from this same company and adore it.  Both complete kits were had during a Road to California Quilt Show.  There are other table runners and projects easy to pick up and sew if you want something quick to work on.  Witches Feet has binding in the flying geese print and a spider web white/gray backing.

This September BOM coordinated by Teresa for Sunshine Quilt Guild was finished last week.  It is the last completion for the week.  It was a very satisfying week.  Below is my Stash Report for this week.  =^.^=

Used this week: 17.25 yards
Used YTD: 225.25 yards
Purchased this week: 2 yards
Purchased YTD: 58 yards
Net used in 2026: 167.25 yards

I didn't get through to the last border because I ran out of the orange fabric scrap that was in the plan to use.  I was short a 5" x WOF strip.  Not a thing in my stash appealed.  There will be at least one purchase at Rosie's this week.  I do like what is going on with the borders so far on Katydid.  OOPs...it was just brought to my attention that two hour glass units in the pieced border are oriented the wrong direction.  OMG...this is a busy quilt.  I have had to go back and reorient more than I'd like to admit =^.^=

Plans to sew Sunshine's September BOM coordinated by Teresa is on my machine for today.  I will probably also start cutting Popsicles that is a 2026 UFO.  Time now to hunker down on what's left on my list.

Teddy Bear 8 was finished and I am onto Teddy Bear 9.  That's it for me today.  Have a great Hump Day =^.^=

I am very excited about Katydid.  I have the middle and pieced first border all sewn together.  On the right are the fabrics for the next three borders.  The first two are small in width and the outside border will finish at 5".  I am getting very close to a finish =^.^=

I will be starting the hunt for a backing next.  My next sewing project will be back off the 2026 UFO list.  I am determined to complete all 12 by the end of the year.

Have a wonderful Monday.

Sunday Stash Report, September 13, 2026

Flutter finished and is on its way to Maryland.  This cute butterfly quilt has a very pretty light pink quilting design that finishes the perfect look.  The solid pink binding worked out well to break up the white background.  If you look closely it isn't just a white background.

I got back to work on Katydid after finishing Flutter.  I read the instructions wrong and made twice the hour glass units that are required.  Guess I'll have a fun strip down the backing or across the sleeve.

Combined with these strip sets they will make up the pieced first border.  I love all the variety!

Going to have to figure out what's going on with my iPad camera.  URGH!  These units will come together along with the second photo.  You get the design right?  In between opening NFL season and dinner I sewed the blocks together and the pieced border through the day.

So for my stash this week Flutter completed and I stayed out of quilt shops =^.^=

Used this week: 8.5 yards
Used YTD: 208 yards
Purchased this week: 0 yards
Purchased YTD: 56 yards
Net used in 2026: 152 yards

Wednesday Workings, September 10, 2026

I have the Block As done correctly now.  Just before leaving for the visit with my parents I noticed all of them being sewn incorrectly.  I along with Kerry tried to figure out what was wrong with the arrangement of the two block designs and couldn't come up with it.  Then it hit me about Block A not sewn correctly that was causing lots of issues with the arrangement.  I had time to put a few of the blocks right and then I had to stop and pack.

When you deconstruct a nine patch block (or any block) it takes the seam ripper and then pulling out the useless threads.  Those useless threads are tough to remove when you sew the units back together.  The seam ripper part was done before getting in the car to travel to the airport.  I pulled all the threads out during my flight and a little more during my ride with Karen to my parents home.

I waited until I was back home to sew the units back together.  Now I have the Block As arranged once again with the Block Bs.  I have moved a few of the blocks around to balance out the colors and patterns of this very busy project (Spider & The Fly, Bonnie Hunter).  Next up will be sewing these blocks and rows together.  I'm ready to go with the next step; one of the borders.  No more problems and Katydid should be into a complete top.  See what I can do between now and Sunday's post.

Happy Wednesday!
