Design Wall Monday, September 9, 2024

I missed having these done completely to show at my mom's guild meeting last Wednesday.  I really don't like to show until the binding is complete.  Just a quirk of mine.  Oh well, I ended up showing them trimmed down since I wouldn't be able to for their next meeting.  This is Kampfire all finished now.

This is Koretta all finished.

Finally, Kache is complete.

I finished my mom's BOM for turn in at her next meeting.  The blue was provided with instructions for the remaining fabrics.  The block is called Good Morning Sunshine.  I'm also working on another project that involves a cow!  More to come on Moo! in a future post.

Sunday Stash Report, July 28, 2024

Kache is done and ready for sending to Kerry.  I am thinking a thread that matches the background of the outer border will do nicely.  Before I ship this 2022 UFO off though I want to finish a couple of other projects.  There is no hurry, except to have it done...done!  There was loads of fabric left over so I have picked up from my library of patterns another one of Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basked Quilts designs.  I'll leave you in suspense until tomorrow's Design Wall Monday post =^.^=

Kottages is a very long way from complete, but a start towards 100 Houses by Rina Curran is underway.  100 houses to be sewn, sew one up and 99 houses yet to sew!  As you can see the project is paper foundation piecing.  I need to go back and count, but a quick calculation would be 13 units for this 2 1/2 inch house block.  This project is also a 2022 UFO.

Working today on what I will share with you tomorrow...Flower Wall.  Fabrics used this week are due to Kache.

Design Wall Monday, July 22, 2024

By the end of Friday all of the HSTs (400) had been trimmed down.  As I was trimming them they went up on the Design Wall.  Next I started off by sewing together the left side HSTs together on each of the blocks.  Then the top of the HSTs and the corner completed.  Finally the two HST sections were attached to the larger HST.

Today all 56 A and B units along with four C units that make up Kache are complete.  Next up cutting the setting triangles and arranging the top in an on point fashion.  I am confident this 2022 UFO will be wrapped up by the end of the week.  Oh does that feel good to say.

This is what the project Secret Stash by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts looks like.  Have a wonderful week!

Soon this will be my Design Wall, but for now this is Edyta Sitar's design called Secret Stash.

Instead this is my Design Wall!  Nothing to share here, but look at the top of my sewing cabinet...

I am using the same grouping of fabrics the Neutral and Warm FQ bundles from the Secret Stash Line by Andover Fabrics.  Of course I waited a bit too long to pick up the Neutral FQ bundle so I had to purchase what I could find.  Fortunately I stumbled upon two Neutral Layer Cakes which has been just enough so far.

I have already marked the center line on Unit 1 and Unit 2 neutrals.  There are going to be lots and lots of HST units to make.  Just 28 (makes 56) of both neutral and warm for Unit 1 and then 200 (makes 400) of both neutral and warm for Unit 2.  Yes, you did hear me correctly, 400 HSTs =^.^=  I recall someone mentioning how they dislike making HSTs...not me!  I am just loving stitching these fabrics together.  The neutrals are amazing in a selection of colors I wouldn't consider neutral at first glance.  They are for the most part subdued, but wild in pattern.  This pattern was a free download should you wish to make one of your own.  My project will be called Kache.  A 2022 UFO soon to be marked off my list of UFOs.

Yesterday was my first Book Club event.  Thought I'd share the feast that we enjoyed.  Thanks for the cooking Christine, Ellen, Kayleen and Grace.  There were other cooks in the group who brought appetizers and desserts.  A couple others had to leave before the group photos were taken.  The discussion of the book, The Housemaid by Frieda McFadden, was engaging.  We all agreed this is a book worth the read.

Happy week ahead everyone.

This is the next project to be worked.  Another 2022 UFO with Secret Stash fabrics from Laundry Basket Quilts.  I have all the fabrics, just need to start cutting.

Grandma Mae's Economy Block
Sunshine December 2022 BOM Win

Turkey Tracks
Sunshine November 2023 BOM Win

Pink Blocks
Sunshine February 2024 BOM Win

I am really not as lucky as it would appear.  These are all Sunshine BOM Wins with settings and assembly to figure out.  Turkey Tracks doesn't even require more than assembly.  I have the perfect setting fabrics for Pink Blocks and Grandma Mae's Economy Block.  I see each of these being finished real soon.  My retirement is getting ever closer.  There will be lots of fabric moving around in my sewing room. =^.^=

I nearly forgot.  A new pattern that just has to be made!  Kats of course...

Sunday Stash Report, September 5, 2021

This was the day to travel back to home.  The day started out with a 6am alarm.  Karen drove for the next 1 1/2 hours to get within range of Dulles International.  We arrived in plenty of time for an enormous breakfast at Bob Evans.  The flight had me through Denver with a short delay because our pilots hadn't arrived as expected.  This trip certainly had a lot of reasons for delay =^.^=
I was able to finish the second of Fit to Frame blocks I had brought with me on the trip.
The first finish was completed half way through my stay.
When I arrived this had arrived from Fat Quarter Shop in Buda, TX.  They had sent a 20% off discount that I took advantage of before my vacation and the coupons expiration.  Secret Stash Neutrals will work for just about any project...not to mention I have at least one in the queue to make.

This is the Warm FQ Bundle that will be needed for my Secret Stash project.  I will need a bit more of the Neutral FQs before all the fabric requirements will be met.
This is the fabric that was in all the Laundry Basket Quilts Mystery Quilt 2021 as a primary background.  My background kit was substituted with a darker cream and gold stars.  I thought I might want to wait until this fabric arrived, but decided not.  It is in the Perfect Union collection and will be easy to use in future projects that need a good neutral.

It has been a busy past week with absolutely no sewing.  I know that is odd for me, but this won't last long=^.^=  For my stash report nothing used, but have something gained.

There are lots of birthdays in starting this week and through the month of June...Birthday Cards are starting to be put in the mail!  Gifts are in the mix too.  First up is Tiffany's, then Greyson's 1st, and Kosmo and Kassy's!  Hope you have a great week ahead

Sunday Stash Report, April 11, 2021

Koney 2 is finished.  Just at 27" x 29" it will be perfect for the desk nook in the kitchen.  Not sure what I'll use for a binding right now.  His fuzzy little tail is just 3 1/2" round.  This tail won't get quite the attention as Greyson has been spending with his Easter quilt.

Greyson's quilt didn't get there until a day after Easter, but I suppose he doesn't really know yet what day Easter came this year.

I also finished the second Tractor quilt.  This one is made to replace the first quilt that sadly was lost in a house fire.  The little guy who is six now missed his special quilt so much that he shed many tears about it being gone.  Several wonderful folks have come together to gift him this Tractor quilt.  Thanks to the loving hearts of Mom, Dru (Primitive Gatherings), and Kerry for helping me to make this gift of love.  Kerry will have it next for quilting.  Binding next for me and soon there won't be any more tears.

When Kerry was here we discussed that I might not have enough florals to make the April Sunshine Quilt Guild BOM.  Florals just aren't that abundant in my stash.  Kerry mentioned she would send me some.  Well she sent me enough to make two and then some.  Turns out in my scraps I was able to scrape up enough for another and before long I had made four.  If I win these blocks, chances are good with four entries, a scallop border is planned.  I might add a bit of lace to the border too.

The mail brought me many fine things this week.  Fat Quarters Shop, BellaRoseQuilts, and Stitchin Heaven had these items until they were delivered to my door!

Sunday Stash Report, April 4, 2021

Happy Easter!  Here's a finish with a springtime flair :)  Kanary is all set for quilting!  I'm on track for being able to get this one to Texas for Cara's Baby Shower for Emma on April 24th.

Kerry is in town and we met up at Rosie's Calico Cupboard Quilt Shop on Friday.  I continued to drain my wallet.  I purchased a whole host of fabrics and a couple of goodies.  These two fabrics are for Kanary.  The top piece for the back and the bottom for the binding.  I didn't want a white fabric for either parts of the quilt because it is for an infant and needs to be forgiving.

Before I go into more purchases from my shopping spree with Kerry...  I treated myself to a new machine on Thursday.  The Phaff I had been using was a Professional 5.0.  I'd had it since 2015 and you know how much I sew.  It was definitely time, especially after a careless meeting of needle to point of a scissors.  This is the cremedelacreme of a quilters machine.  I need the insert to use in my Koala cabinet that is to be part of the deal along with the Professional 5.0 being a trade-in.  So for now I'm using the 5.0 and the ICON is waiting to start its time with me.

Back to my Rosie's spree...  Picked up a wide back (at 15% off) and the binding for my Kandy Katz project.  I will be putting cutting the stripe at a diagonal to keep the fun going with this project.

Friday is Rosie's special deal off FQs so these three came home with me to use in Winter Blues by Bonnie Hunter.  I'm just now starting the collection of fabrics for this project.

I need to get quite a bit more of the Secret Stash fabric collection by Laundry Basket Quilts to complete the fabric requirements for Secret Stash.  I've been adding in the neutrals to reach free shipping requirements for my online purchases.  There's two heading my way right now.  I'll be looking for a good deal on the FQ bundles of the Neutral and Warm colors.

This sweet neutral came home too.  There should be enough for a background.  My only fabric purchase enhancement that is just because :)

Earlier in the week I was excited to see a sample of this project called Hocus Pocus.  I found the kit on ETSY from Bella Rose Quilts at a great price.  I don't have it yet, but this is expected in during the week.

I should also be receiving the backing for the tractor quilt and another of the patterns that use the All Hallow's Eve fabric collection called Pumpkin Trio.  And now I'm on the hunt for more of this fabric to make Witch's Night Out another using the All Hallow's Eve collection.  Yes I do like the collection =^.^=  So all said and done I have a fairly good size to report as used in Kanary and a huge size to claim as purchased.  As you can read though...there are plans to use it all with only one frivolous purchase.

I'm away to the sewing room to make progress on my bunny project which is yet again a bit smaller than the original project for Greyson pictured above.  Koney 2 will be ready for my Easter 2022.  Hope your Easter basket is as full as mine has been this week!

I had a fabulous day with Kerry on Friday.  We shopped at Rosie's for several hours and enjoyed a lunch at the Brigantine.  She's here for visit and I'm so happy to have had part of it on Friday.
