Design Wall Monday, December 16, 2019

Kwenched is on my Design Wall today.  On my sewing table just finished putting down the binding is Kats' Kall.  I wanted to get this project ready for Thursday Night Football!  I have binding, label, sleeve, and eyes to hand stitch before this one is finished.

I also have sewn many of the units, but not all, of Kavort.  Parts 1, 2, and 3 have a great start; enough to get me into the project when Bonnie Hunter gives us the last parts of Frolic.  Part 1 needs to be made into 4-patches yet.  That sewing will take place Wednesday night.

Design Wall Monday, September 9, 2019

Fit to Frame (YTBN) has two more finished blocks.  The 5+ hours to travel from the West Coast to the East Coast and back allowed for much of this to be stitched.  The two on the right were finished this trip

The binding and sleeve are in place now on Kreate.  It is a cute project that will find a place in my work space where I spend most of my time nine hours away from my sewing room.

Kilkenny Kat is now with binding and sleeve complete.  I shared it along with Kreate at my Mom's quilt guild meeting which I was fortunate to attend.  There was a special presentation from the Quilts of Valor representatives from the area.  They were very interested in the design along with Bonnie Hunter enthusiast.

I'll be heading to my quilt guild's first meeting of the 2019-2020 membership year on Tuesday.  It is an Ice Cream Social!  I'm going to resist the temptation =^.^=  Kreate and Kilkenny Kat are planned for Show and Tell.  The rest of the week I hope to finish up Kalypso and dig into Koach.

Sunday Stash Report, July 14, 2019

I have two completely finished (except for the labels) projects to share with you.  First up is Knightley.  The pattern is Bonnie Hunter's Indgo-a-go-go.  Mine finished at 84" x 95".  It is a 2018 UFO.

Kika is the next one at 41" x 41".  This is a Pam Buda pattern, Rebecca's Needles.  It is a bonus pattern that comes with A Prairie Gathering (my project is called Kanton Kull).  The yardage from making A Prairie Gathering gives you enough to make this one too.  You know I couldn't resist to use up fabric!  It is also a 2018 UFO.

Using up my stash is what I aspire to in each and every project that comes under my needle.  There are those times when purchases are a must, but for me everything (including my Mom's and Kerry's stash) comes from inventory first -^.^=

Klover is done now except for the label.  That will come when I have enough which is four ready to print.  Klover shows real well.  I had thought the binding would look better at an angle, but frankly I like that it is straight with the rest of the look of the project.

Sawtooth Flutter is a 2019 UFO.  One of Bonnie Hunter's designs.  I have the question out on the Quiltville's Open Studio to learn if anyone knows of a layout designed using the block pattern.  So far the answer is no :(!

These three came home with me from Kerry yesterday.  You that know me know that I'm happy as a lark to have the binding!  From the left is Knightly, Klover, and Kika.  I'm thinking a scrappy dark blue for Knightly, I have a green/tan stripe for Klover, and Kika has a red of course :)

I'm assembling my guild's 2020 opportunity quilt today and hope to get to the many yo-yos that need to be hand stitched in place during the week.

Winter-ific finished this week.  Still struggling with a cute name.  So I'll claim yardage for it!

Design Wall Monday, June 17, 2019

Yes it is Thursday, June 20...  I've been working all week getting Winter-ific finished.  I wanted to show it to you done.  Tonight is the night that happened.  Finally my 2018 UFO List is complete.  This little one at 22" square needs a "K" name still.  I'm going through my list of saved up names to see what might work; unless you have an idea...

The rest of the week Sunshine Quilt Guild's 2020 Opportunity Quilt will be assembled.  I examined the layout that was at the retreat in May and believe I have it just the way it was (with a few changes).  I trimmed down the wool applique blocks and the 1/4" seams are going to be a challenge without having to remove any of the work.  I will prevail =^.^=.  Jo has offered her help and I still might reach out to her.  Forgotten about all the yo-yos that need attaching between the seams of the outside border!  A back needs to be procured yet and then Kerry will work her quilting magic.  It shows at the San Diego Quilt Show late in August when it will also have tickets offered.

DH is celebrating a birthday Saturday.  At least half of his gift has arrived.  Enjoy your week what's left of it.

Design Wall Monday, June 3, 2019

Kyanite is done, done!  This was one of my 2018 UFOs.  I found the perfect binding for it at 2019 Road to California.  It is a sewing inspired stripe in just the right colors.  I haven't had a Bonnie Hunter design under the needle in quite awhile.  Might be that it is time to change that soon.  I have at least one started that will be in reds.  More on this in future posts.

Sunday Stash Report, June 2, 2019

Just over 24 hours has passed since Mom has traveled back home.  The house is back to the quiet side without her.  We had a great three weeks together.  I always love the time we spend together.

I finished machining in place the bindings on these three recently returned projects from Kerry.  Once I finish the special binding project that isn't shareable right now it will be on to these.  I also have two other quilts that labels are ready to stitch in place.  Then there is Winter-ific that waits more embroidery.  I sure hope DH can find some good movies that we can share over the next week.

My next sewing project will be a second pet bed.  I received a very nice photo of Aliana in her "favorite bed".  Marla of Southern California Abyssinian Rescue (SCAR) made my day =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, May 12, 2019

Sorry for all the fullness in this photo.  It really is not how it looks.  If you've sewn with linen you might understand better that it is hard to lay flat.  So the Knock Kneed is done...YIPPEE!

Winter-ific is coming along nicely too.  I have all the applique pieces that you see sewn into place.  There are a few satin stitches, chain stitches, and French knots yet, but this one too is nearly complete.

These two are my last 2018 UFOs to finish.  For this week I count Knock Kneed complete.  Hope that you had a great Mothers Day.  Mine was terrific spending time with Mom and then a barbecue of baby backs with a sauce my Sister gifted DH this past Christmas.  Yummy =^.^=

Design Wall Monday, May 6, 2019

Mom is coming to visit!  I've been getting ready for arrival.  My arms are waiting for embracing...  Oh, I love this time when I can spend with her.  Mom is usually here for Mother's Day which is awesome...  There are so many holidays that I miss being so far away.  Not this one =^.^=

Did you know that the top flowers for Mother's Day are Roses, Lilies, Orchids, Tulips, and Peonies?  Lilies are out of the picture for my home with the danger they present for Kosmo and Kassy.  I wonder about Peonies.  Going to have to check them out with dangers to pets.  Needless to say there will be flowers!

As for happenings in my sewing room; not so much.  I have all the flamingos done for Knock Kneed, so now it is decision time.  Should the black flamingo stay?  I think so!  Should my signature fabric go into this quilt instead of a flamingo that doesn't contain it?  I'm thinking so too.  That's what everyone expects.  I'll have time to get this together before Sunday Stash Report.  Anxious to change the numbers this week.

I'll be working during the weekend on Winter-ific.  Some hand sewing remains before I can call the last UFO of 2018 complete.

I had hoped to get Knock Kneed finished, but other things occupied my time.  It is so close!  How do you like my surprise black flamingo?  They are a very rare occurrence!  Last sighting of one was in 2015 according to National Geographic.  I'm working on the ninth pink right facing flamingo in case the black one doesn't work out.  There is always the back!

Design Wall Monday, April 29, 2019

The flock has been multiplying!  There are eight with one more yet to go.  The last one will be right facing.  You might notice that I changed out two fabrics.  I just couldn't make myself like them.  Better to do it now than regret not having done it.  Three of the flamingos are completely assembled.

This is the second heading in the same direction.  The plan is to have this project done this week.  It does look possible =^.^=  Knock Kneed just might be in the used fabric category come Sunday...

Sunday Stash Report, April 28, 2019

I have four done out of the nine that are for Knock Kneed.  The one on the right is completely assembled.  The other three are left unassembled to allow for changing of the rows between the remaining eight.  When assembly comes the 4 1/2 inch square will change the look of the "tail feathers" and "body".

I got a package in the mail on Friday.  These were in it.  My sister makes the best cards and I love sending them.  Mom also sent me some fabric, neutrals that I can always find a use for.

Design Wall Monday, April 22, 2019

Knock Kneed flamingo one is done.  This one looks so innocent to make until you start on the legs!  Knock Kneed has nine flamingos in the project.  There is a mistake in the pattern on Fabric 4; the longest strip is 2-1/2 not 1-1/2 wide.  I was using scraps so that might end up biting me.  There is always another piece to pull from the stash, not to worry =^.^=

This project will take awhile.  I am happy I found out ahead of time that this wouldn't be a good one for working on at the retreat.  It just has so many pieces!

Sunday Stash Report, April 21, 2019

Koldplay is finished.  I am both pleased with how it turned out and the size.  This is my first completion of 2019 UFOs.  I'm still working on 2018 UFOs; two of them Winter-ific and Knock Kneed.

As you can see I will be using lots of stash in the making of Knock Kneed.  I had thought about working on this one at the quilt retreat that is coming in May, but have decided against it.  There are just too many pieces to keep track of.  The flamingos start with a light color for the head and the legs darkest color.  I have mostly salmon and a few pinkish, yellowish, and redish.  Aren't these fabrics yummy?

From the stack of Fabric 4 I removed the top piece.  It just didn't belong.  Fabric 5 and Fabric 6 are my favorites.  The rest of today will be spent cutting the background fabric and auditioning my selections for each of the nine flamingos.  But for now I have them stacked as I think they might end up.  The lightest fabric is on top and the five remaining fabrics are in sequence with the darkest those lovely long legs and the knock knees which gave Janet O the inspiration for the great name of this project.
