Sunday Stash Report, December 29, 2019

Lots of time working on Kavort...when Kosmo allowed me=^.^=  He has made himself comfortable in my 1.5 inch strip stash.  I'm looking for that scrumptious raspberry shade to finish that last few units of Part 1 and Part 2 of Bonnie Hunter's Frolic mystery.  I also pulled out some of the two blues just for a bit more variety.  Notice the two groupings by my iced coffee.
During my search I looked through this much so far that don't work.
I do still have this much more to look at when Kosmo makes it possible!
Here's a photo of Kats' Kall all finished.  The eyes were the last to attach.  The buttons were difficult to find; a little white one with an even smaller black one.  One can hardly see the eyes on the cat bottom left from the dots!

This is the week when we can purchase to our hearts content without it counting.  Anyone taking advantage of this?  There are those end of year sales going on!  I'm staying away to spend my week sewing.  I'll end with my stats for 2019, which aren't too bad.  Wishing you a wonderful New Year =^.^=

Design Wall Monday, December 16, 2019

Kwenched is on my Design Wall today.  On my sewing table just finished putting down the binding is Kats' Kall.  I wanted to get this project ready for Thursday Night Football!  I have binding, label, sleeve, and eyes to hand stitch before this one is finished.

I also have sewn many of the units, but not all, of Kavort.  Parts 1, 2, and 3 have a great start; enough to get me into the project when Bonnie Hunter gives us the last parts of Frolic.  Part 1 needs to be made into 4-patches yet.  That sewing will take place Wednesday night.

Hope you have a wonderful week =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, November 3, 2019

I added to my stash this week, but fortunately it will go out quickly.  Since it will move out I decided not to add it to the status.  They are all fabrics to be used in the Sunshine Craft Show that takes place the first week of December.  Kerry has the five projects on their way to her now.  She will do the quilting and finish up one of the projects with her stash.  The light bulb embellishments will fill one tree that is plain.  The photo also shows a purchase of white and black buttons.  These will be for Kats' Kall; the eyes of the cats in the project.  It makes it easier for the quilting not to have embellishments in place during that process.

With instructions drafted by Connie from the Sunshine Guild I made one of the straw pouches.  It turned out pretty cute.  I added a button to cover the tacking of the Velcro underneath.  Thanks Connie!

I missed sharing a birthday gift that came from my Mom.  Meet Fabolo.  He is my second guy in my collection of Alley Cats created by Margaret Le Van.  Fabolo's pick up Line is "On you...it looks fabulous!".  Thanks Mom!

These are the projects for hand stitching today during the football games.  All known Christmas Gifts that I plan to have in the recipients hands before the holidays so that they can be enjoyed during this year's holiday.

Nothing changes this week =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, October 27, 2019

Another 2019 UFO finished.  Thanks to Heather for the name suggestion, Kats' Kall.  This one goes to Kerry next week for quilting.  I have a few whiskers and facial features to hand stitch in place yet, but it will be in the mail soon.  The pieces at the bottom are the gray (binding) and paisley (backing).  All but two FQs from stash.  I'll have to look through what 2019 UFOs are left on the list to see which one calls out loudest!

I spent time this week on cutting out the Shamrock table runner and organizing the 2011 October BOM win (Kerry won) into several small projects to be offered at an upcoming craft fair.  The proceeds from our booth will go towards Sunshine Guild activities.  Kerry and I are both using stash for most of the five projects.  There will need to be a little purchasing, but it is for a good cause and won't impact our stash.
During the week I'll be working on cutting the pieces for yet another holiday project.  This one reminds me of my friend Bonnie.  It will make a nice gift for her.  Still more fabrics to add in, but the candles are well handled.  The darker batik will be the background.

Stats change this week with the completion of Kats' Kall =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, October 20, 2019

Kaffe Kisses is finished.  I have the sleeve and the label ready to hand sew, one of my projects for during the football game later today.  This isn't the style of quilt I'd usually select, but it was fun trying something different.
Finished also is the October Sunshine BOM.  Cute little churn dash block where the background was provided and the churn dash was directed to be a bright fabric.

The Cat's Meow is coming along nicely.  Auditioning the framing blocks and considering the outside border fabrics.  Definitely think the gray paisley is the way to go between these two options.  I just cannot get the white to work with the wordy background fabric.  One last option versus the gray paisley is a solid gray.  I am liking the gray paisley so we shall see.  Any ideas for a name for this project?  Keeping with the "Ks" =^.^=
I did have a 2-3/4 add this week.  It will be enough for a backing one day in the future.

Design Wall Monday, October 14, 2019

I have been working away on a few projects.  This is Cat 3 of my 2019 UFO The Cat's Meow.  The units are just placed about where they would be, but final placement on the background has not been determined.
This is Cat 4.  The paper is a fusible called Barely There that I have come to like a bunch.  The units are on the wrong side of the fabric for now.  I will be cutting the parts of this cat during the week.

Last Friday I received Kaffe Kisses in the mail from Kerry.  During yesterday's football games and later tonight's football game there will be some binding.  I am sharing some of the quilting that Kerry used.  Several are from patterns made for the double wedding ring design.  I am very pleased with the custom work Kerry accomplished.  When I get the binding done the project will be shared with you.  The binding is the same green as in the blocks.

2019 - 2020 Sunshine Challenge #5 top is done.  The pattern (Framed 4-Patch) and kit was prepared by Tonya, Sunshine's Cuddle Quilt Coordinator.  I will be getting some appropriate kid themed backs from Tonya for the remaining six projects, but this purple will work for now for #5.  The pink thread will be used for the quilting that I will be doing.

Have a terrific week ahead.

Sunday Stash Report, October 13, 2019

Here is where some of the new purchases were used.  Two FQs were needed to get the lower part of the face and the stripes on Cat 2's back.  Yes this is how the stash builds =^.^=
The other two FQs are for the background of a table runner for my Mom.  It is a St. Patrick's theme.  These four FQs were purchased from Paradise Sewing in Poway, CA.
This past Tuesday was the monthly Sunshine Guild meeting.  Because I had my name badge on an entry into the drawing got me this cute door prize.
I am participating in a UFO Challenge for the membership year.  Seven UFOs were identified with one being due at each meeting or a $1 penalty must be paid.  My UFOs are all cuddle quilts from kits Tonya the coordinator built.  I will be working on this one today.  It is #5.  All UFOs must be completely finished.  My quilting skills will be challenged since usually Kerry does all my quilting.  There just won't be time to get them to her and back to me.

Let me close with my stats for this week.  I hope your already middle of October week is everything you want it to be.

Design Wall Monday, October 7, 2019

I started with these fabrics for four cats.  DH mentioned brightly colored cats...well I think these fabrics will make that happen.
This is the first cat.  It takes six different fabrics.  Eyes and whiskers will be added in at the end.  There is a piece that gets the words "Meow  Meow  Meow" below the feet of the cat.  I will be experimenting with my sewing machine again.  It does lettering quite nicely.  Each block will finish 10" square.  I haven't yet decide on the sashing.  I have quite a stash for finding something that will work.

Happy Birthday Karen!  I hope your day is as terrific as you =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, September 29, 2019

It is nice to show both starts and finishes...wouldn't you agree?  Let me start with a finish.  Knock Kneed (Florence Flamingo by Elizabeth Hartman) is done.  I really like it with the stripe binding.  I played around with the idea of a black flamingo after making all nine in pink.  There is such a thing, the last sighting of one was in the Akrotiri Environmental Centre on the southern coast of Cyprus April 8, 2015. This is thought to be a result of a genetic condition which causes it to generate more of the pigment melanin, turning it dark rather than the usual pink color.
When you have the blocks made you might as well use them.  This is the back where that ninth pink flamingo was fitted into the bottom left corner.

Now for the starts and finishes that I will be claiming this week =^.^=  These are gifts for Christmas that Karen and Mom will get the early part of December in time for displaying this holiday season.  I have already shared the red version that Rita will be gifted.  These were fun to make, nearly addictive.  The green version is my second with this pattern.

These fabrics are what I am sewing on today.  The third for the pattern is a mix of the green and red trees which is nearly done.  The fabric at the top is the back.  Since I spoke to Karen first she had first selection.  She'll be happiest with the mixed version.
Finally I will share a birthday gift for myself;  a Hot-fix Applicator Kit.  All this fits into the black bag.  Purchased through Amazon from Afantti.  I haven't used it yet, but the three Krazy Kristmas Konifers (Crazy Christmas Trees by Karla Alexander) will be bedazzled along with Kastaway.  Thanks Heather from Peachy Pages for helping me out with a cute name.
