Today my day has been spent binding.  Binding, sleeves, and labels to finish Kurosity and Kristoff.  Sleeve and label to finish Kwill.  Plus several more labels that have been waiting to be printed for other projects.  You do know the cost of those nice fabric sheets =^.^=.

Design Wall Monday, February 8, 2016

Congratulation Denver Broncos!  It was somewhat unexpected play by the Carolina Panthers in my opinion.  What did you think about the commercials and the halftime show.  Like Bruno Mars and the Doritos commercial topped them all!

Kutarug

This week I have touched on almost every project I have in work.  It is a bit hectic having so many things going on, but it is a good chaos.  I have been trimming the many HSTs that will be used in Winning Combination...which thanks to Janet O...has a "K" name.  Kutarug fits perfectly!  You will be seeing this project for quite sometime as I work on the 936 2" HSTs.

Konstellation and Krown
2016 UFO

Konstellation and Krown is my February UFO that holds top priority under the needle right now.  The start is 5" squares of two main fabrics; in my case blue and red.  Along with 5" neutrals.  Then the trim down to 4 1/2".  I am in the process of trimming down with the reds to finish.  Next comes dividing the the unit into four equal pieces which become two smaller HSTs and one each of the background and main fabric.  My sample has an error in the layout which I'll be certain to watch out for when the blocks, two different types are assembled.  (It's the white solid block in the red block upper left that should be red.)  I should have this project close to done by the weekend.

Konstitution

Konstitution Month 2 HSTs are prepared and ready for stitching.  I have several of the units sewn, with more to go.  I do love HSTs!  This project takes 720 HSTs that will be done with triangles on a roll paper.  The quantity has been divided up into three months since Kerry and I are doing this project as a BOM through the year.

Krystals

Krystals was in my hands during the Super Bowl.  I have two of the 17 snowflakes sewn down.  The snowflakes are felted wool and the thread to sew them down is perle cotton.  You can just about make out the one in the top left of the quilt.  There are two different snowflake designs.

Kristoff

Kurosity and Kristoff came home with me from Kerry's on Saturday.  I have both trimmed down awaiting the binding that needs to be prepared yet.  Kurosity will have the black print (like the outer border) with the gray for the sleeve.  Kristoff will get red binding and the scraps will be sewn together for the sleeve.  Kristoff makes me smile...how about you?

By the way if you want any information on any of my quilts you can easily read my steps from start to completion by selecting the appropriate label on the right side bar.  I started doing this in 2016.  Any quilt that has not been completely finished you'll find a label.  Want to know about Kristoff???...just select its label and see everything Kristoff.

I have the Sunshine Quilt Guild monthly meeting to attend tomorrow night.  The program is Schools in Session.  I'll be presenting a 15 minute tutorial on several ways to make a flying geese unit.  Friday has me in a workshop with Bonnie Hunter sponsored by El Camino Quilt Guild.  I'll be at Eleanor Burns place, Quilt in a Day, for the day.  The project is Scrappy Majestic Mountains.  I plan to use a 5" HST instead of the 8" called for in the instructions.  I was in a swap where 5" HSTs were swapped...a perfect opportunity to use them!  It will be a smaller project, but I like that idea.

Hope that you have time to see 52Quilts.com May Parade of UFO finishes of April projects.  If you have UFOs or projects that you want to finish join in...  

Mine was the first in the parade this month.  I managed to have Kurosity done during the first week.  This gave me time to work on Kamikaze the rest of the month.  Kamikaze is also a UFO that has yet to be selected so I'll be ahead when it is.

For this month Marti has selected #12.  For me that is the project shown below called Tiny Treasures.  It is a Moda Candy Pattern #582 designed by Sandy Gervais.  This pattern is tiny which makes me happy as this is a busy month.  I'll be working on pulling my Christmas fabrics for this one over the weekend.  Should be able to get it all from my stash.  Don't you love the way the bows jump up?  Now I could use some help on a "K" name; any clever thoughts out there?  TGIF!

Kamikaze Fabrics
2015 UFO

 A trip to Rosie's on Friday had me bringing home two pieces for Kamikaze.  The fabrics will be used for the 4-patches that run across the quilt in two directions.  Each red will have a neutral, likewise with the orange.  This project is Bonnie Hunter's Midnight Flight design.  It happens to be on my 2015 UFO list; a number to be called yet.  I figure as big and involved as it is I best get further along.  If you find this project familiar it's because I coordinated a unit swap of the blue/neutral and purple/neutral blade units that are for it.  During the week I pulled scraps and readied the neutral 1 1/2" strips that will be used in the 4-patches.  The last unit to complete the center are HSTs of black/neutral.  As always there are a gazillion units...=^.^-=  I'll share more on this project soon.

These five 1/2 yard pieces came from Sew Batik.  Always need neutrals and what better fabric than a batik?

Kurosity
April 2015 UFO

I do have a couple of completions to account for (which helps offset the purchases).  Kurosity is done and so is Kwill.  I added them to my quilting queue at Kerry's Quilting yesterday.  I have a feathery pattern for Kurosity in a variegated black/purple thread.  The back for it is a small scale gray print.  Batik is going to get a feathery pattern as well.  It will be a custom quilting project using several quilting elements that are similar for the blocks, setting triangles, corners and the two borders.  I ran with the suggestion for a tan thread.  The tan will match the color of the setting triangles.

Kwill

I have Kwill done!  I'm excited about how it has turned out.  

Now my attention is turned once again to finishing up Kurosity which is my April UFO.  All blocks are sewn.  Time next for pressing and row assembly.  A black border is planned.  Its looking like two finishes on Sunday's Stash Report.

Happy Easter!

# 9 UFO - April

I started in on my April UFO on Saturday after sorting through fabrics to find the right scraps for the color and theme I have in mind.  A bunch of progress has been made since then, but you'll have to come back tomorrow to see progress!

Kompass

I finished completely Kompass (Norah McMeeking's Sewing in the Round with Caryl Bryer Fallert's Flying Geese in a Quarter Circle) and I'm on the final assembly of Kwill.  I just became too involved with Kurosity to do more than cut the fabrics for the setting triangles and borders on Kwill.  Tomorrow I hope to have more to show.
