Sunday Stash Report, July 16, 2017

Here is where I am today with Tiffany's Sun Bonnet Sue.  I measured what's needed for a border.  I want at least a 4" border.  What I have left of the blue just won't be enough.  I looked through my stash for possibilities without luck.  A trip to one of the local quilt shops will need to happen...darn don't you just hate when that happens =^.^=

Kakes in the Kribyard is finished.  Love how this one turned out.  The fabric statistics don't change this week.  I am sewing though.  Enjoy your week ahead.

I've been very busy with binding.  Knikknakk above was finished on Sunday.
Kalvery finished on Saturday.
Kissin' Korner 2 finished on Saturday too.  Today I got around Kakes in the Kribyard, but have the sleeve to stitch down.  I will show you a photo of it in all its royal purples later this week.  All of my finished projects can be seen on my website www.kwiltnkats.com.

There were ten Sues to be blanket stitched down when I was left with this project started by Mom a very long time ago.  Tiffany pulled out two of the primarily blue Sues for pillows, but the rest make just enough for this setting.  The blue sashing fabric is left from the blue and yellow bed quilt Mom and I worked on and finished =^.^= before she returned home.  I will be using this same blue for the sashing in between the rows.  There is easily enough for it and probably the binding.  Not sure yet about a border or if it needs one.  What do you think -or- is it too soon to gather an opinion.  I will be back to Sun Bonnet Sue this week.

July is moving far to swiftly...Kapture, my UFO for July has yet to be started!  Until the next time =^.^=

Kakes in the Kribyard came back from Kerry's Quilting this past weekend.  It is really a purple quilt!  I have a solid purple planned for the binding.  Need to see if there is enough to get around this 33" x 39" project.

Kerry also went to a retreat in Texas while Mom and I attended the retreat in Temecula.  I got a Dear Jane charm pack as a gift from her trip.  It is a bit difficult to see all eight fabrics.  Some wonderful small scale prints in various colors.  Thanks Kerry!

Violet and Ivy are going to get some cute dresses soon.  When I was a Beverly's recently there was an adorable pattern that crossed my eyes.  Knowing I had several cute juvenile prints in my stash it had to come home with me.  The girls are Kerry's grandchildren that I see often.

The top right project is my #12 UFO called for working in July.  It isn't a large project, but I will be starting from scratch.  There will be more on Kapture through the month of July.

Here is where I start with Kiliminjaro that is #7 to do for the 2017 UFO Challenge with Patchwork Times.  I stitched the rest of the HST Swap blocks from a swap I coordinated in 2013.  Bonnie Hunter was in my area to teach a workshop to make her FREE pattern Scrappy Mountain Majesties and these swap blocks fit just right for the project.  Mine are 5" blocks to start with; her pattern calls for 8 1/2".  The math was calculated for the difference in size and away I went.  During the workshop Bonnie showed a different layout than what is on her website for my miniaturized blocks.  Excited with the way it will look.  I plan to use up the swap blocks for whatever size that ends up.

Saturday had me at Kerry's for some "quilt sister sewing".  Love these times!  I brought home with me Kissin Korner 2 (FREE Bonnie Hunter design Kissin in the Corner) and Knickknack (Janelle Noack design Hopscotch).  The quilting design on Kissin Korner 2 is really cute.  I'll share it once the binding is in place.

In the meantime though I will be figuring out how to make a sleeve with leftover fabrics along with deciding what fabric should be used for the binding.

Never idle time in my sewing room =^.^=

Tuesday evening was Sunshine Quilt Guild's monthly meeting for May.  I was one of three lucky winners of a door prize for having my name tag.  I have made Country Threads patterns before and was happy to have two more chances.  Notice the pattern on the left has a cat on it?  Not sure how the chicken fabrics will play into my projects, but I like each of them nonetheless.

Before the meeting I made a stop at Joann's for the 100 Blocks Quiltmaker Volume 15 magazine.  You know I would be utmost interested in the entry from Bonnie Hunter.  Well I was not disappointed with Sawtooth Flutter.  Funny in reading her blog she did not exactly like the name.  It was as a result of her having a same name block from another block entry.  Bonnie was holding a contest to come up with a new name.  I frankly like the one hers was coined.  Funny she envisioned a butterfly with teeth in Sawtooth Flutter!  Anyway with leftover flying geese from Talkin' Turkey, made some time ago, there are leftovers that will be used to make this one...and just in case the layout involves red strings...I am covered.

The first Aqua/Blue Swap blocks are in my hands from Bonnie Sue.  She is always so sweet to give me a little thank you for coordinating swaps.  Know Bonnie Sue that I appreciate this treat and look forward to using the "thoughtful to the fabrics of this swap" charm pack in my project.  There are still many units to be made that this swap is built around (Straights of Mackinac).  The due date for the remaining swappers is May 22nd.

Tuesday evening was indeed a night of getting goodies.  Kerry brought me Kalvery "quilt" finished.  An awesome feather design (HA Twirly Feathers) was quilted that seemed appropriate for this reproduction project.  I have been considering the binding fabric at the moment, but found time to trim it down last night.  Pam Buda suggested a brown stripe Freedom Rings fabric, but I am not feeling it...brown stripe against a navy star wreath fabric that is the 7" outer border...  I am thinking strongly of sticking with the outer border fabric of which there is plenty.

I am totally happy tomorrow is Friday!  It has been a busy work week catching up from my few days off.  I am looking forward to a day sleeping in and enjoy doing what I like best the rest of the day...stitching!

Kloggs arrived at my sisters home.  Here it is on her bed...perfect!

I was busy with Kozy Korners when stitching was going on.

Kourtepointe came back from Kerry so there was some prep work happening with the trimming down, sleeve, and binding.  Today the plan is to work on it and a garter!  I am having fun with these.

The biggest finish on Sunday was the binding for Kloggs.  This quilt gets to travel as soon as I can find a box large enough to hold it!  It measures 120" x 103".  It was such a happy sight to see the other end of the binding!  DH thinks we should look for an area rug in these colors as it brightens up the living room.  Maybe the drapes need changing, because I will not be covering up my new carpet.  Karen is going to be happy with this quilt.

I am working to finish up the sham that will match the twin quilt I made for my parents guest room.  Kerry will get it tomorrow to put some quilting on the top that matches what was used on Kozy Korners.

Kanton Kull is next on the table.  Chapter 4 is in progress...  See other projects through the links at Patchwork Times.

Kissin' Korner 2
2017 UFO
Kissin' Korner 2 is complete.  This second project that I have put together from scraps is Bonnie Hunter's design Kiss in the Corner!.  I changed it up a bit with blue setting triangles.  I'm still out on what the binding fabric will be.  It is ready for quilting.

The day was just to beautiful to stay home...  We went out for Brunch instead!  I did get a few rows of Kissin' Korner 2 sewn together though while waiting for dinner to cook.

Kanton Kull is back out of its storage to be worked on after Kissin' Korners 2 is complete.  I have all pieces cut out for Chapter 4 and the first of the units sewn.  Still quite a bit to go to close the "chapter" on this round.

Mom likes having a sham on the beds in her home.  These are the scraps from Kozy Korners that a sham is planned for.  It won't be identical to the design of the quilt, but it will have the color and some of the fabrics for a 24" x 32" sham.

There was also time to stitch the binding around Kloggs.  Let me say that took a bit of time for the 103" x 120" quilt for my sister.  I started to do the hand work, but became too involved in the last of the remaining episodes of Downton Abbey to do much more than a little over 18".

So much I want done like yesterday...  Hope you have a wonderful first week of April =^.^=.  Hook up with the links at Patchwork Times.

Kissin' Korner 2
2017 UFO
This post is a bit late, but Dancing With The Stars was on last night.  Not to mention that DH had pulled out a new recipe from the Sunday paper that I had all ingredients to make.  Time slipped by...

The second Kissin' Korner 2 (design by Bonnie Hunter, Kiss in the Corner) is on my wall.  The sashing and setting triangles need stitching to finish this project.  I have 120 of the 168 finished.

Using nothing but Stash is awesome!  Likely these last 2" strips will get me to that 168 unit requirement.  Kissin' Korner had yellow setting triangles; thinking about blue for this project.

On Saturday from Kerry's I brought home two gift quilts.  Karen needed a new king for her bed, so Kloggs was made.  Black binding is planned for this one.

Don't you just love the feather quilting design?

Mom needed a twin for her multi-purpose room (guest/office/sewing room).  My parents love a patriotic quilt so Kozy Korners was made.

I'm not so certain what color the binding fabric should be at the moment.  Red, gold, and blue are all options...

I hope your week goes exactly as you hope it will.  Check out more projects through the links at Patchwork Times.

Kourageous
2017 March UFO
I started off my day with six setting blocks complete.  I have been admiring how Kourageous is looking while stitching the last seven blocks.

No fabric either in our out this week.  Lots of moving stash under my needle though.  Looking forward to the possibility next week in an update under the USED stat.

I learned that Kozy Korners has finished quilting...  One to get from Kerry's Quilting and three to add to the queue.

Koncentric Konnection
2014 UFO
Today I have nothing to change my numbers, but I do have some completely finished projects to share.  I've been binding.  Yes my "push" finger is sore now; I have never been one to use a thimble.  I have tried, but nothing feels comfortable.  First finished was Koncentric Konnection.  This one is a total beauty.  All my quilts are quilted by Kerry's Quilting.  I wish I could share the detail of the stitching on Koncentric Konnection.

I have included a close up for you too.  My DH created this name that fits it very well.  If you want to see more up close check out my website.  My latest are at the bottom of this page.
Krosscheck
2016 UFO
Krosscheck is just in time to celebrate St. Patrick's Day alongside my leprechaun decoration.  Hard for me to think that this is the first quilt I have created for this holiday.  There ended up being lots of tiny nine patches left over, so use them I did on the sleeve.  I was one short!
Next up is Konstant Konnection.  Funny how frequently "konnection" comes into names of my quilts. =^.^=  Thanks to my sister for its name.  I think this one would make a great baby quilt for a little girl.  It also doubles as a Valentines project.
Konstant Konnection
2016 UFO
Last completed is Kolada.  Thanks to Joy D for its name.  This one was never a UFO.  I took a workshop to learn the technique of using the new pineapple ruler from Bloc Loc on this project from Road to California Quilt Show this past January.  I made my project to fit a particular space in my home.

I have begun putting the pieces together for Kakes in the Kribyard.  There will be some rearranging as more blocks are stitched together.  At the moment 88 blocks are planned.  Next an inner border of the light purple (constant).  Finishing with a braided border with the "knot" in the light purple and the "braid" dark rectangles.

The blocks finish at 3" which all come from bonus triangles.  I plan to use all the fabrics Sue gifted me and then if needed move to my stash.  The width of the pieces is 1 1/2".  There are plenty of that size in my strip stash.

These are the three quilts I brought home with me from Kerry.  From the bottom is Kolada, Konstant Konnection, and finally on top is Krosscheck.  I will be working at finishing Kakes in the Kribyard then move on to binding.

March is upon us this week can you believe it?  Take time with a stroll through the links at Patchwork Times.  Hope you have a good week.

Sunday Stash Report, February 26, 2017

Kourtepointe finished!  YIPPEE for me...I get to change my Stash Statistics!  I'm making headway on my 2017 UFOs even if it isn't the project I should be working on =^.^=.  I'm in the black!!!

I was sewing with Kerry yesterday.  Well to be honest I was unstitching and trimming my February UFO that I have named Kakes in the Kribyard (must get the "Ks" in some which way).  This project is a Bonnie Hunter design called Bricks in the Barnyard.  Did you know that "cakes" is another name for bricks...and..."crib" is a style of barn?  I'll be working on this project today.

Kastaway will need to wait a bit longer.  I have picked up the monofilament thread so the platform is ready for liftoff!

Join me tomorrow to see how far I get with Kakes in the Kribyard; along with goodies I brought home quilted from Kerry's (Kolada, Konstant Konnection, and Krosscheck).  I have adds to my stack of quilts to bind.  Heaven...I'm in Heaven...
