I have my sewing assignments all set for this weekend.  I have off today, the first three day weekend of December for me.  I look forward to these three day weekends!  Part 2 of Bonnie Hunter's 2013 Mystery Celtic Solstice is out.  I printed out the instructions and will get into my fabrics today after I clear up the other projects on my sewing table.  Above photo is the fabrics I have selected for my December 2013 UFO.  After consideration I have decided on Kingsford Kove for my project's name.  It is from the pattern Rustic Meadows by Alex Capadalis Dupre from the periodical Quick and Easy Quilting October 2000.  I have started cutting the pieces that will be needed.  The design is 6" squares and 3" half square triangles.  One of the fabrics that is 3/4 yard will be used for the border.  I am thinking right now to use a scrappy binding so I can continue to de-stash!

I still have black/white and white/black fabrics all over my sewing table.  My Mom sent me some she had in her stash that will work in well, but I think I have enough to get through to the end of this project.  May look for a Western black/white to add in as this quilt (Kilowatts) goes to Texas.  I have also decided to use a white on white print for the back with white thread for a quilting pattern that will look like a whole cloth quilt.  I will share a photo of Kilowatts when I have progress to show.

Kristmas Kollage is finished now.  Just in time for the Holidays.  Well friends I am off to sew!  Enjoy your Friday...

Sunday Stash Report, December 1, 2013

As I write this post I am continuing to work on Celtic Solstices Part 1.  This photo shows 60 neutral/blue triangle squares assembled with 36 yet to go.  I also have 20 orange/blue triangle squares assembled and 72 yet to go.  I'm trying to cut into my scraps as minimal as possible, but still keeping a lot of variety.  This is part of the reason to cut and sew as I have done.  I see no reason not to be able to finish part one by Monday so that I can post to Bonnie's blog.  I haven't come up with a name for my Celtic Solstices project...I'd be happy to have you help me.  Remember the challenge to name with the first letter being a "K".

I did make a purchase yesterday at Beverly's.  I brought home fabrics for three projects; Celtic Solstices, Kilowatts and Kristmas Kollage.  I am just barley keeping above 200 yards used this year.  Kilowatts should be finished before the year is out and I will also have my December UFO complete.  (The UFO Parade at 52 Quilts is tomorrow for all the November UFO finishes.)  Not sure anything else will be completed.  As long as I can stay away from any must have fabrics during the holiday sales I should be good.

I am excited to get going on Bonnie Hunter's Mystery today.  I did a little bit of cutting and will get to assembling tomorrow morning.

I first finished up the four started Block As of Kilowatts.  There are 50 to make total for the queen size and I have another 12 to go.  Today I stopped by Beverly's to pick up another six black/white and white/black prints.  Must keep the variety going.

I also picked up a solid red fabric for the binding of Kristmas Kollage.  I wanted to get the binding on for Sunday's football games with DH.  Don't you just love the quilting?

Kloudburst is completely done.  All up to pace with binding until Kristmas Kollage comes my way.  Kerry mentioned on Tuesday when I saw her that it was on the long arm.  

I stopped by Paradise Sewing in Poway on my way from the office today.  Picked up three 1/4 yards of small scale black with white prints that are Kookaburra worthy.  I'll be cutting them along with the two I got from Memory Lane in El Cajon on Tuesday out tonight.  Still on track for a finish this week :).

Sunday Stash Report, October 20, 2013

This week there is a change to both stats.  Kindergarten (Little School Girl by Lori Smith) was finished.  This is my October UFO.  I really like the way the stripes worked out in the setting triangles.  Sure is nice having the monthly project done to free me up to work on other projects.  I'm really anxious to get back to Krazy Krones (If The Hat Fits by Buggy Barn).

One purchase this week from Olde Towne Stitchery while I was in Maryland.  This fabric worked out well for Kristmas Kollage (Deck-Ade The Halls by Fat Quarter Shop).

Purchased 1.5 yards at Bits and Pieces in Poway for Kamp Kastles this week.  I had something that I could have used from my stash for the golden brown but couldn't pull off the green.  When I got to Bits and Pieces the golden brown they had worked better with the green.  So end of story...both came home to use in the project.  

I used fabrics for Kristmas Kollage and Kamp Kastles.  Both are great names dreamed up by my Mom, Sister, and SIL!  21.75 yards used in these two projects!  YIPPEE....

Design Wall Monday, September 23, 2013

 Sunday was a good day in my sewing room.  Download #10 released last week contained the top assembly directions for Deck-Ade the Halls.  The entire pattern is available at Fat Quarters Shop on their Jolly Jabber blog.  The project has been the summer project for a bunch of us at Sunshine Quilt Guild.  Jennifer hosted us several times at her house to share are progress.  Still working on a name for my project; with a "K" of course.  Nice to have a finish for next week's Sunday Stash Report!

Kamp Kastles

I was able to get all the paper pieced components for my September 2013 UFO finished before bedtime.  There is a sashing that join the trees together that will be in a brown fabric and an inner border of green that will join with the pieced border to be worked on next.  This is a pattern called Jeweled Forest by Renee Peterson that was published in McCall's Quilting November/December 2009 magazine.

I continue working on getting all the lettering down on my sister's birthday quilt.  It is going well.  I have the first part of the slogan and the first word of the second part done.  Pictures coming soon!  Then there are four quilts to bind.  Fortunately only one of these has a time deadline that won't be a problem.

This week the sale fabrics from Fat Quarters Shop arrived.  All five fabrics are Buggy Barns designs by Moda.  How could I resist $7.53 a yard?  Kerry and I split the 1 yard minimum along with the shipping costs.  I'll be looking for future purchases of this kind from them.

I have been working on several projects, but none have fabrics to count as used.  I'm pretty close to having Deck-ade the Halls done along with my September 2013 UFO Challenge.

There are 12 participants in a swap I'm coordinating.  Quantities are geared towards making Bonnie Hunter's Talkin' Turkey! design.  In the coming months you'll see more on this swap.  Instructions and timelines were just sent out this week.  To help better explain the cutting if you decide on the 11" red string block cutting I've taken some pictures.  Also see in the last picture the Nine-Patch color arrangement as well as what pieces are to be put into individual kits.

Assemble a slightly larger 11" red string block.  Use your square to trim it to 11"

End result four 5 1/2" blocks

Divide the 5 1/2" blocks and Nine-Patch blocks into kits for each participant in the swap.

Design Wall Monday, September 9, 2013

First let me apologize for such a full Design Wall!  I have been so busy and I have way too many things going on, but that's a good thing right?

What is in front of Wendy's project is the one that needs to be finished first.  Kandle Kounting is a Buggy Barn design called Today is your Birthday!  I'm making it for my sister...sshh...it is a surprise for her big 50th that is early October.  There are 12 cakes in three colors; black, cream, and red.  I used Buggy Barn's Angle Among Us fabric line for most of the project.  Each of these blocks get trimmed down to a consistent size and set four across and three down.  There is lettering that will go on the top and right side 6" borders.  I'm working hard against the clock to have this done by Saturday.

Then there is Wendy's project the L-Medallion quilt by Marti Michelle.  I have the setting triangles and the borders to put together yet.

Last Thursday I took a class with Joyce Weeks.  We made her pattern Survivor.  I have five done with much more to do.  I'm excited about the start.  I would love to be working on this project.  So disappointing to take a class and want to keep going with it but instead need to be working on something else.

I took a second class with Julanne Bergstrom on Saturday.  We made If the Hat Fits! by Buggy Barn.  I got one of the witches done during class, but this one too needs to be put on simmer until I can get other projects where they need to be.

Tonight to keep up with Deck-ade the Halls I will be working on the mugs.  It is the last blocks to be made before assembling the project.  There are a group of us with Sunshine Quilt Guild that have been making this project from Fat Quarters Shop through the summer.  We are planning a Show and Share at our first meeting of this new membership year on Tuesday night.

Today I have on my design wall my Deck-Ade The Halls project by The Fat Quarters Shop.  There are two downloads yet to be published.  One is the mugs and the final is the layout instructions which contain the sizes of the coping strips.  All of the downloads are still available if you want to make one for yourself.  There are five members of the Sunshine Quilt Guild who took this on as a summer project.  We've met a few times at Jennifer's home.  Today we met to share our projects progress, enjoy a terrific salad lunch, and have some fun with Left Right Center for FQs.  I turned out to be the lucky winner.  It had to be beginners luck!  24 FQs came home with me...the start of another project :)!

I will be putting Deck-Ade The Halls back in its storage bag until the mugs instructions are released.  Next up is the finishing of Wendy's L-Medallion project.  I have a number of the pinwheels ready for sewing now, but lots more to cut before I start piecing again.

The San Diego Quilt Show is about two weeks from today.  I gathered the last of the fabrics I will use in the Joyce Weeks class, Survivor, that I am to take on September 5th.  I'm working on binding two quilts for turn in on September 2nd, but that shouldn't be a problem since I love to bind...  Hope you find time to do what you love this week.  Grab some coffee and see what others are working on at Patchwork Times.

Happy Monday!  Can you believe we are halfway through August already?  I've made a pretty good dent in my 2 1/2" squares and strips with Bonnie Hunter's Summer 2013 Leader and Ender Challenge!  Split 9 Patch!  I even made it larger than the gorgeous example she pictured from Pennsylvania circa 1900.  Just like the last project, Korral, that I finished recently...this one presented a challenge getting all the 9-patches going the right way.  I think I have it right now, but will need to look with a fresh view tomorrow before I start sewing the blocks together.  I'll be thinking on a "K" name in the meantime.  Are there any suggestions that come to mind?

Once this was on the wall I started working on the next download of Deck-Ade The Halls.  It's the trees this time.  All the pieces have been cut for sewing to begin later tonight.  The next social at Jennifer's home is Sunday.  I'm sure to be up-to-date by then.  Everyone coming is to bring something to add to a salad.  Sounds like we will be having a good time too as we'll be playing Left Right Center.  I've not played it before have you?  The ante will be three FQs.

August 2013 UFO Challenge

I spent time this morning taking apart and putting back together Korral.  When I thought I had only the last border to sew in place; it turned out to be much more :(!  I had six 9-patches turned the wrong way.  Five in one row and one all by its lonesome.  I was so happy to discover my error before it was quilted.  I'll have this one to Kerry's Quilting soon.  It will be recorded on Sunday's Stash Report as stash used to the tune of 12.5 yards.  It's also ready for Aunt Marti's Thirteen in '13 UFO Challenge parade that will be on September 1st.

As you can see in the picture with Korral that I was also working on Deck-Ade The Halls.  I'm up-to-date today through download #7 which are the wreaths.  I think the trees are next.  This is the finished project.

Design Wall Monday, August 12, 2013

Once Krazy Kattle was down from my Design Wall...Korral was put up.  I had all the 9-patches done just waiting for the Design Wall space.  This project needed quite a bit of arranging.  It did get quite complicated making sure the 9-patches were oriented correctly.  At one point I had two of them wrong and it was a real challenge to find where the wrong ones were located.  After that delay sewing the diagonal rows together was a breeze.  Korral is my 2013 August UFO.  I am anxious to get this one done so I can get in a few other projects the last half of the month.

I have the wreaths to assemble on the Deck-Ade The Halls project.  I don't want this one to get behind.  On the 19th another piece of the project will be released.  The next social at Jennifer's will be on the 28th to share our progress and I will want to be up-to-date.

Later this week I plan on getting back to Wendy's L-Medallion project.  I hope you are achieving your goals and having as much fun in your sewing room as I am.  There are lots more projects to be seen at Patchwork Times today.

Sunday Stash Report, July 28, 2013

Yesterday while at Kerry's I planned to figure out the color layout for the last part of the L-Medallion project I have been working on.  This is what I will be working on next week.  Pinwheels first...  

Today I will continue to work on Krazy Kattle.  Still much debate on whether to make my quilt as designed by Buggy Barn or as presented in class.  Buggy Barn has two "house" blocks without a picket fence and the class project left the houses out adding a picket fence.

This afternoon I have plans to meet up with several Sunshine Quilt Guild friends and share our Deck-ade The Halls progress.  I have mine up-to-date with the last release that was the gift packages.  I am anxious to see the expressions first hand on Jennifer's gingerbread men.  She added the faces which are quite funny.

I have way too many project going on presently; very much not me!  Not a single one of them were finished last week nor did they need any fabric.  Of course this means no change to my stash stats...soon though you'll see lots of yardage used.  There are several others linking in to Patchwork Times sharing their stash stats.

Yippee I'm up-to-date on Deck-Ade The Halls.  I'm not sure which package I'd like to tear the wrapper off...  Looking forward to Sunday at Jennifer's social where scoops of ice cream will be on hand.  It might be a late celebration that she is extending to us since she just celebrated a birthday.

Tomorrow I will be back to L-Medallion Quilt.  Happy Tuesday and a Happy Birthday to my Sister-In-Law Barbara who celebrates.  I am positive my brother Mike will treat her as she should be treated on her special day of the year!

Design Wall Monday, July 22, 2013

I have a busy Design Wall in my sewing room.  Last week I spent each day working on a commissioned quilt for Wendy by Marti Michelle called L-Medallion.  I have all 12 of the blocks done now with the center medallion and the setting to complete.  I plan to work on these this week.  The center medallion has lots of assembly and cutting out ahead.

Month 11 - Stars over Savannah.  

Month 12 - Flutter By Butterflies.  This block again used the L-Template Set by Marti Michelle in ways I didn't think would be.  Notice the bottom right shape made with 69A and 72.

The other side of my Design Wall has Deck-Ade The Halls through Download 5.  I think it was Saturday that Download 6 became available.  These are the fabrics I will cut for the gift packages.
