Design Wall Monday, October 10, 2022

 

This is what is on my Design Wall today.  The third Broken Courthouse Steps.  With that said I want it finished and on its way to be quilted along with my Trick or Treat project.  

I want my Design Wall to be covered with O Say...Can You Sew!.  These are the two blocks that come together with sashing to finish the project.  Anxious to get this one done too.  I will be selecting something for a back from Missouri Star Quilts compliments of Kerry as a birthday gift for it.  

And then there is Autumn Love...  I have yet to sew together the words "AUTUMN" or any of the four Harvest Star blocks.  These are all cut and just waiting.

There are so many projects on my sewing table wanting there time under the needle!  Busy with binding and watching all the sports on TV has hampered machine sewing.  This week is my Off Friday...I do want to spend time with my Pfaff.  Don't you want to see progress?  I sure do!!!

Tomorrow is Sunshine Quilt Guild monthly meeting.  I wonder what will come home with me from there to add to my projects waiting time under the needle =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, October 9, 2022

 

Added to my stash this week is 1 1/2 yards of the teal above for binding two Broken Courthouse Steps charity quilts that arrived early in the week.  

I also received the one Wonky Wishes charity quilt later in the week.  This is the pattern that I found to be too much work to make more than one (middle).  It came out nice with the red thread for the quilting.  I'll be using the backing for the binding.  If you have time check out what's going on at Kerry's sewing room on her blog Kerry's Quilting.  She's always usually one step ahead of me in the projects we both decide to make.  

I am finally finished cutting out a kit for my Mom called Scattered Leaves.  This project has more cutting than you can imagine, but it has emptied much more of both her and my stash...  A wonderful thing =^.^=  I cut out enough for the same project for me.  I can use another stash reducer and another Fall project not Halloween.  There will be a post coming soon to my Mom's blog Sew What Else?

Design Wall Monday, October 3, 2022

 

Broken Courthouse Steps #3 is on my Design Wall today.  I need to sew the blocks and rows together yet.

I picked up this fabric for the binding of Broken Courthouse Steps #1 and #2.  Tonight I will be cutting enough for both of them.  The tops are so busy I tend to match the binding with the back.  Matching the back was not possible from my stash darn!  I found the fabric matched the darkest color.  This wasn't such an easy task.

Clue 7 of O Say...Can You Sew! came out today.  It is the finishing clue.  I am going to have to really hunt for enough variety in the neutrals.  Wish me luck =^.^=

Lastly, the Fabric Glue needed to move forward on two Christmas Ornaments part of my 2021 UFOs.  It will be nice to have these done in time for this holiday season.

Off to get some more cutting in before bed time.  First, I plan to open up the latest box from Kerry.  Pleasant dreams =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, August 21, 2022

 

Wonky Wishes has come together nicely.  This one was fun to create, but as I have mentioned a bit labor intensive to make more.  This one has a red back.  I was happy to be able to get the back and the sashing from Holly Lobby at 40% discount.

This is the first Broken Courthouse Steps.  I had a piece of fabric large enough for two backs; so this first and second projects will have it. The pattern is addictive!

This is another finish, the second Broken Courthouse Steps.  I have one more cut into the units.  When finished there will be three of these with LOTS more 2 1/2" strips still available for more charity projects.  I will be looking for another pattern that goes together fast and uses lots of strips.  With these four quilts I can at least comfortably close the 2 1/2" strips stash drawer!

Design Wall Monday, August 15, 2022

 

The first of many Christmas ornaments is finished.  The Polar Bear is darling.  Besides the woll to make him there were all sorts of leftovers.  I've already pulled out two more to work on.  These next two use fabric glue and are not poly filled.  More a craft sort of project than sewing.  Watch out they are coming to you soon.

Hobby Lobby's 40% off all yardage started again this week.  I purchased (from the right) the sashing fabric for Wonky Wishes, a really cute unicorn print in pink and purple for the charity quilt in similar colors that was made over the weekend, and finally a small piece for continued 1" finished HSTs for O Say...Can You See.  A very good shop!

There was a package from Kerry waiting for me after work and my brief shop at Hobby Lobby.  She cut out all the "stripes" for the Kolonization.  You may remember this one from Primitive Gatherings, a Stitch-Along that she brought to us in 2021.  Kerry used her Accu Cutter to start me off on this 12 flag block quilt project.  More om Kolonization coming too!.

You might just be able to make out the quilting design on the first of three Hopscoth Butterscotch.  It really looks nice with both the front and the back.  Kerry picks the pattern and the thead on the charity quilts.  Nice work!

I still have the trimming down and binding to put in place, but it will happen in turn.  Meanwhile I'm working on the next Broken Courthouse Steps.  I just love how this project is using up 2 1/2" scraps.

Sunday Stash Report, August 14, 2022

 

This is just the pattern for using up 2 1/2" strips.  Kerry found it and I am happy she did.  It can be made in several settings, but because my projects will be so scrappy I decided on this layout.  In just a couple of days these 20 blocks are assembled and ready to be sewn together into a top.  The pattern is called Broken Courthouse Steps.  

There will be several more of these coming out of my sewing room.  The units already pulled from stash ready to use for the second quilt.

This cute project is the result of a day with Sunshine Quilters making cuddle quilts for the charity the guild supports.  The fabrics are from a kit that Tanya (the guild's cuddle quilt coordinator) assembled.  The pattern is called Keyhole. 

Today, besides getting ready for the second Broken Courthouse Steps, the units will be sewn together to make the 12 1/2" blocks for Wonky Wishes.  As soon as I can get my hands on a good sale, 2 1/2 yards of a neutral will be cut for the sashing.  I do like the design, but it is a bit labor intensive without a lot of fabric being used to clear my 2 1/2" strip stash.
