Sunday Stash Report, September 13, 2020

 

Fifteen cats complete.  This is the half way point of blocks.  I have pulled some combinations of fabrics for several more.  Anxious to make a red cat next.  There will be more on this tomorrow from my Design Wall.

Today was a day of binding and football watching.  I finished three today.  The first one is  charity quilt.  It is made from three different projects' orphan blocks.  I made a few more to get to this finished size.

Kadaddle is the next one finished.  I showed you on a previous post Kadaddle's Kopy so you may think you are seeing the same project, but no =^.^=

Kloves is the last of my binding projects for now.  The project used Halloween and Fall theme fabrics although the Halloween fabrics get lost with the size of the finished units.  Can you spot the spider webs and pumpkins?

Nothing changes this week, but there will be an add next week...I have some fabrics coming in to make Kaitlyn's baby girl a quilt.  I am ahead of her birth that is not until November.  Should be just the right amount of time to have it done in time.

Sunday Stash Report, August 23, 2020

 

Today there is a change to my stash count.  Excited to have Starry, Starry Nines by Pam Buda done.  If you look close enough to this #7 2019 UFO you might see that it is Halloween themed fabric.  This project finishes at just 23 x 29.  The smallest unit is just 1/2 inch finished.  Cloves are considered an Autumn spice, so guess what this project will be named?  So let me show you what had me sewing through this hot week in San Diego that leads me to the finish of Kloves...

The second block of the project used the 9-patches that I was making on Wednesday.

Then came the setting triangles and corner stones.

That's when the project could come to life.

Moving on to Jelly Snowflake Mystery project a bit to finish up Block 3.  The clue just came to participants on Friday.  Sue has a webpage if you want to see what everyone else is doing with their projects.  My project is with 2 inch strips where everyone else is using 2 1/2.  I did this mostly because of the lesser amount of background yardage that was in my stash.  It also provides a smaller project and that is a big plus.  There is one more clue and then the finish.

Saturday came to figuring out what UFO project to work on next.  I decided on A Quilt for Mrs. Chalmers by Em and Me Designs.  Headed to my stash to see what was there that sparked an interest.  These are the fabrics I plan to start with.  Likely I will skinny down the 2 1/2 inch units to 2.  This will give me a projet smaller than the 46 x 56 it is designed for.  This is #5 2019 UFO.  With this project done only one remains to finish for 2019's UFO list.  I don't think #12 Fit to Frame will complete, but then it is only August =^.^=  I will be selecting a 2020 UFO project to work on...between everything else!  Check back tomorrow to see if fabrics have been selected for Star Strings by Pam Buda; #4 on the list.

I started last night and will continue today on a Candy Cat block.  It is fun to get back to a paper pieced project.  The neck and ears are waiting for me!  I have already selected fabrics for the next three cats.  This project was designed for 30 cats.  It might see less in hopes to keep this project smaller too.  

Oh I love surprises coming to my mailbox!  Especially when it comes for my hobby!  My sister sent this fabric treat with the note saying she thought of me while shopping in Hobby Lobby.  The neutrals will definitely work well.  Thank you =^.^=

These are the 11 unit 3s for the first block of Starry, Starry Nines by Pam Buda.  As I have mentioned earlier this is #7 2019 UFO.

I gathered the rest of the units of Block 1 and this is the finished block.

And here are all six that are needed for the project.

Block 2 has me back to making 9-patches.  This time 12 of them.  These now needing to be trimmed down a bit.  Just a sliver makes a world of difference in these tiny projects.

This is were I will end up with for this part of the project along with tonight's sewing!

Design Wall Monday, August 17, 2020

 

Starry, Starry Nines is coming along.  These are just 2" units unfinished.  They are in order of the instructions.  The first six are nine-patches, 12 with a rectangle on the right, and finally the lone one will have 11 more just like it as this project moves along.

This is another 2019 UFO#7.  This is a Pam Buda design.  I sure set lofty goals for 2019 UFOs.  These are just the next cut pieces for the 11 with the rectangle on the left.  Can you tell this is a Halloween themed project?

It was a windy, hot day yesterday in San Diego.  I spent the day sewing down binding while enjoying the wind on my back patio.  I did get nearly all around on one of the two blue and white charity projects.  I used a burgundy rather than a red, because there just wasn't enough in the stash =^.^=  I'll share photos when done; I know you will agree that it looks fine.  We are up for a hot week in San Diego!

Fit to Frame is 2019 UFO #12.  This is my seventh block of 12.  There are five more for me to stitch.  I have been using needle turn method for the applique on this project.  The project started as a convenient one to travel from West to East coast simply because it is small.  I do think with the change in more stay at home time this year...there is a very good chance it will finish in 2020!

This is what it looked like before the ring was appliqued in place.  With the help of Kerry the selection of fabrics worked out nicely.  My applique is far from perfect, but practice makes perfect =^.^=

The ring is a bit off its mark, but not too bad.  I will be prepping the next block sometime later this week.  Selecting the right fabrics and colors can be just as challenging as the stitching.

This is the next project to sew.  It is necessary to take a break from applique.  Another 2019 UFO, #7 Starry, Starry Nines.  It is the project on the cover top left.  Those Halloween themed fabric squares at their smallest are 1" unfinished.  Tiny work with this project by Pam Buda.

At the same time as I work to get the delinquent 2019 UFOs done, I am trying to work the 2020 UFOs too.  That's what this one is #6 Sugar Sand Beach by Atkinson Designs.  I picked up this pattern at Road to California earlier this year and was thrilled to learn that in my possession already is the speciality ruler needed for this project.  These fabrics were all gifted to me.  My Mom through her guild provided the FREE Table white and the jelly roll is just 1 1/2" not the usual 2 1/2".

I will skinny down the design from 2 1/2" strips to the 1 1/2" strips.  This will be a bit of a test as you go project.  The background (white) was to be cut to 1 1/2".  Yes, was, but because of the smaller jelly roll size it is now just 3/4".  No not krazy!

A Hump Day Post!  Krispin with all leaves ready for stitching.  Will be using the perle cotton thread.

Autumn Love with crow legs and flower stem.  I'm ready to touch glue these pieces down then applique stitch around the shapes.  There is a vine to add with floss between the leave and stem of the pumpkin, but that comes after the applique work.

This is the cut pieces for the next project 2019 UFO #7 Starry, Starry Nines by Pam Buda.  The largest cut is 2.25 inches square and the smallest is 1 inch square.  I may need tweezers!

A kit was being offered for this project at a good sale price.  I don't usually get kits, but thought if the deal was good enough...  As it turns out I already have the pattern!  I have been going to the wagon/truck Christmas decor so this one will fit right in.  It could end up a smaller version than this one.  Maybe, just maybe it will be made after all my UFOs are done from 2019 and 2020 =^.^=
