This is a UFO for Sunshine Challenge.  Excited to finish this during the week.  I had it all cut and ready to stitch so assembly was pretty quick.  This pattern comes from the 2022 Jolly Box from Fat Quarter Shop.  It finishes at 44" x 59".  Haven't figured out a name for it yet...there is still time before a label is made.  First things first; a trip to Kerry's Quilting.

Another from Fat Quarter Shop, 2022 Spooky Box.  This one finished quick too as it was already cut and ready to stitch.  It finishes at 42' x 42".  It is a 2023 UFO that will also make its way to Kerry's Quilting.  No name yet on this one either.

I am most excited to finish off the year with these two in the used status.  I have been working hard to get UFOs done before starting another project.  Sure could use some help with 'K' naming all you clever minded friends.  Hope you have had a great 2023...now let's ring in 2024!  Happy New Year.

The reason for our 99 cent for three month Peacock App purchase played out Saturday evening watching the LA Chargers a-l-m-o-s-t win against the Buffalo Bills.  Frankly, we were not surprised by the outcome.  The Chargers have to turn around with a change in the coaching staff and the return of our quarterback and all the other first string players hurt and sitting on the bench.

During the game I started cutting out Sew Gifted from Fat Quarter Quilt Shop 2022 Jolly Box.  I picked up both the background and the backing during Sunshine Quilt Guild's 2023 Quilt Retreat.  I didn't want to use the suggested turquoise background.  This green check fits my decor better.  I will probably use a red for the binding.  I will be sewing this fast project up during the week and look forward to having it for Christmas next year.  (For those following, I will get to the Halloween project Scary Faces...seems there is always something moving this back...that's why it is a UFO more than likely.)

Today I am cooking a turkey and all the trimmings for a meal for two.  We like a good moist turkey and it is taking up too much space in the freezer!  There are gifts to unwrap and telephone calls to make while the turkey bakes.  Perhaps a pumpkin pie...

Hoping your Christmas is as special as your friendship is to me.  Merry Christmas all!

During the week I reconstructed one of the Turkey Tracks set of bocks.  There was not as much contrast in one of the fabrics so I took them apart and added a lighter fabric.  As you will see from the end result it works out better for my project.  The new set is located in the top right corner and second from the left fourth row.

Then Saturday the set of blocks arrived that I was waiting on to receive.  Christmas will be remembered and a good addition of red/cream will get worked in.

The next few hours will have me busy getting ready for Christmas Eve dinner.  Christine and Ray are to arrive at 3pm.  They will be bringing scalloped potatoes, brussels with bacon, and dinner rolls.  Prime rib roast, corn pudding, fruit salad, and all the accoutrements from our home (including horseradish sauce for the roast).  Pudding might the dessert of choice today as there have been a lot of sweets served out lately =^.^=

I hope you have everything in place for your Christmas Eve and Christmas Day!  May you have a wonderful holiday.

These are the Turkey Tracks blocks I won from October Sunshine BOM.  There was another turned in that requires some rework that I haven't gotten to yet.  There were no scraps of this entry so it may need to be abandoned since the finished size is off and I am not sure I will be able to fix them (dark and light blocks) without a little extra fabric.

This is one that was turned in unfinished.  I added the background fabric and will sew this up soon.  One more to be turned in to me is out there.
Scary Faces is the next project planned for sewing.  This is a 2023 UFO that will certainly be done quickly as all the units are cut.  Halloween 2024 will be here before you know it and this project (yet to be named) will be ready!

Enjoy your week before Christmas!

Katerskill is complete.  I have a backing still to find.  White will be the binding, but I'm not planning to cut it and prepare until a back is located.  I want to get something bright white and blue with a vintage look.  I did see a toile in Etsy that I liked.  I have contacted FrenchConnectionsNC to see what they might have with a bright white background and either light or blue pattern.  Anxious to hear from them as they have a very nice toile collection.  This is a 2022 UFO and a Sunshine Guild Challenge that I would very much love to have off to quilting by the end of the year or close to the beginning of next year.

Not sure if you remember me making the Turkey Tracks block that was October's BOM coordinated by Pam.  These were definitely blocks I hoped to win ** and guess what? **  I DID =^.^=  So happy to bring them into my sewing room.  A couple need to be completed and a few will not work out with the others, but once I have one that is still coming I am ready to put this beauty together into a top.  I have the perfect back from one of Sunshine sponsors who sold goods at the meeting, Fantabulous Backs.  So good was the buy that I got two 3 yard 108" pieces.

The Sunshine Guild Meeting was our holiday pot luck and games night.  Five of us played a fun game passing a sewing themed gift around and left and right.  We ended up with each others surprise gifts.  I liked mine that was made by Pam.  I'd be happy to share the game story if you have interest as this photo will be most difficult to read and besides it is two pages in length.  A very cute little purse for sewing supplies.

Next I set up and completed the top Sunbonnet Babies.  This one is a Sunshine Guild Challenge as well as a 2024 UFO.  This turned out so cute.  The light teal sets each block off along with the perfect dot for the sashing and borders.  I have the same light teal prepared for the binding.  Loved the cross stitch work.  Thanks to my Mom who provided the stamped kit (a UFO for her) and Kerry for much of the embroidery floss.  The back will be the same dot as the top.  It is ready to make its way to Kerry for what ever she can dream up for the quilting.

Sunbonnet Babies has been cut into 9" squares.  The recipe calls for 3/8" seams!  I guess the kit can be considered "vintage".  Funny enough the recipe didn't lay out instruction for the inner border as it is shown on the cover, but I wanted that look.  The pieces for the blocks were cut just shy of 2" to account a bit for the suggested seams.  The important part is to sew over the blue stamped guide lines that are around each block.  The blue stamped "x" are covered by the floss.  According to the recipe the blue should wash out.  No ironing or the blue is sealed.  Suits me fine as my finger pressing is usually my preferred method LOL.

The multi-colored white strips will be the sashing and outer borders.  This one is getting close to a completion.  I am not sure it will be done before the end of the year.  If it does it will need to be replaced from the 2024 UFO List which is where it currently stands.  Katerskill is going to finish!

I have the Sunshine Quilt Guild Meeting on Tuesday.  Anxious to find out the end result of our craft booth time at Crest Community Center's Craft Fair.  This is also our holiday meeting with all kinds of fun food.  Too bad I am on a restricted diet for a procedure on Thursday :(  I am bringing a pineapple upside down bundt cake for all to enjoy.  I plan to sneak a piece for after the procedure.  It smells and looks awesome!  I will share the fun events that are planned for this year's holiday meeting!

HO HO HO!

Sunday Stash Report, December 10, 2023

Katerskill is assembled into rows.  Next up the rows.  I only need time to do this task.  I wonder if I wish hard enough that Santa Claus will bring me sewing time...wouldn't that be wonderful?  The last row is pinned to the its row above, which is why you see some tips popping above it.  The design calls only for side borders, but I don't like that look.  Mine will have top and bottom borders.  It also finishes with a white binding.  Not sure about a white binding.  I am considering a blue to match the HSTs.  There is some time for this decision.  What would you do?

I am off today to see the American Ballet Company perform the Nutcracker.  This will be a new experience for me.  I am told the Company is one of the best and the Choreographer one of the best also.  I am looking forward to the costumes of course picking up my past talent of making costumes for dancers.

Stash numbers stay the same for now.  Nothing used and nothing brought in.  Hope your week is a grand one =^.^=

All the pieced blocks are assembled now.  It is time next for sewing the blocks into rows.  I hope to get to it this week.  Perhaps there will be a finish this year.  I really like this project, but it is time to move on to the next one.

Meanwhile in my TV comfy chair the Ducks cross stitch work continues with the completion of the second block.  Dancing Duck knows how to strut the stuff!  The third one of this project of 12 starts this week.  Check out the Kite Flying Duck's progress next week.

Happy week everyone =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, December 3, 2023

Finished the Little Red Truck tree skirt.  With the addition of the outer print border and the "snow" it ended up with a size that worked under the tree.  Kosmo is showing off!

The 2023 Jolly Box arrived from Fat Quarter Quilt Shop.  This box has a cute project that is candy canes with bows.  There will be a need for a background; not so certain I want the suggested denim blue cotton.  The fabric pack is too light for white and there is a lot of red...hmmm.  I have the charm on my purse and the thread ready to use.  The pins and needles will certainly be used.  The last item are holiday potholders; not really my thing.  All in all it was a good mystery box.

This bag of buttons from my Mom (with many of them starting from me) allowed me to make some holiday ornaments.  They will be placed on the tree that will be used at the Crest Craft Fair where Sunshine Quilt Guild will have a booth.

I really like the trees, not so sure about the icicles.  I also donated a few other ornaments to help fill up the tree.  Met up with Kathy on Saturday to pass them off as I will be attending the Nutcracker ballet in Orange County the day of the craft show.

Nothing rotates the numbers this week.  Katerskill continues assembly.
