Sunday Stash Report, April 30, 2023

I brought this cross stitch project that my Mom started a while back to sew on my trip home.  There was lots of sewing and projects with my Dad that kept me busy during the past week.  Karen arrived on Saturday morning for a long weekend stay.  Saturday night is bingo night.  There is always a good time especially if you can holler out BINGO!  I wasn't so lucky and my wallet getting lighter as the night played out trying to be one of the hollers LOL.  It has been a great trip so far and I'm anxious to see Austin tomorrow as it has been nearly a year since I saw him last.  There will need to be another time to catch up with Greyson, Tiffany and Matt.

Lots of sewing projects of my Mom's were done during the week so check out her blog to see them all.  I'm hoping to have her projects to the next step of completion when I return in August.

Nothing to change my numbers this week although Mom's stash is changing!

These were the first two projects of my Mom's that were worked on during the evening.  During my last trip in August the first of two Broken Courthouse Steps project was finished.  The quilting was completed and binding sewn down.  All it needed was a label sewn in place.  I brought printed labels with me to add the final touches.  This one is a charity quilt for an organization in the area where my Mom lives.  The second project Dresden Plates Table runner was done except for the label that was also put in place.  This one will stay with my Mom (at least I think that is the plan).

The majority of my day was spent with my Dad doing this that and the other.  We check off several things that he had on his list.  Tomorrow Mom and I will dive into her sewing room!  Whatever we do it will be great doing it with the two of them.

Today Karen and I are driving down to my parents home.  It is around a 1 1/2 hour drive.  I arrived at Dulles right around 9pm and spent the night at Karen's home.  Loved the things that her and her DH have been doing in their home.  They are empty nesters now and you probably know what that means to the bedrooms.  Guest room #1 is where I spent the night.  So prettily decorated.  Karen and I chatted nearly nonstop; catching up on all sorts of topics.  We stopped at CostCo to pick up goodies for Mom and Dad too.
This will be a quick trip for Karen.  She will spend the day and leave after dinner since she has to work tomorrow.  It is just great that she taxis me so my folks don't have to make the drive.  I will be spending the week with my parents.  Karen will come back on Saturday and stay until Monday afternoon when she and I head back to her home.  I will have time with Austin at the restaurant he manages.  Karen and I will spend the rest of the time doing a little bit of this and that.  My flight leaves next Tuesday.  A nice, but always too short visit.

As for quilting up to day...I have been preparing what will be worked on during the flight and things I may get to while I am there.  More than likely my sewing time will be with my Mom's projects.  Dad has a few things he wants help with.  I think I will be a busy girl this coming week.

Nothing changes my stash this week.  Hope your week goes just how you want it to be.

These are the most recent finishes.  This makes for a total of 37 blocks.  Just a few more then it will be on to the sashing and border units.

Time for me to prepare a scarecrow block and a milk can block for hand stitching during my flights to and from the East Coast.  It is a long flight that will allow me to get in a lot of hand stitching.

Happy Birthday Kerry!

So what do you have going on in your sewing room?  Have a great week =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, April 16, 2023

Let me start off with a complete project.  This is Kolony my project for the design by Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings called O Say...Can You See! In one block, the blue one with the red 9-patch, there are 32 one inch HSTs.  To be exact 1,024 HSTs.  Yes indeed this was a big project.  I love the result and so does DH.  It is on our guest room bed right now.

Here is the next complete project.  This is a design by Judy Neimeyer of Quiltworx called Broken Daisy.  I didn't come up with a clever name for them unless you consider Halloween Broken Daisy clever.  I attended a Sunshine Quilt Guild Workshop in January by Cindy Meyers and this is he result.  I used fabrics from my stash so unfortunately there was only enough for two.  Kerry put a very cute quilting design on them with orange thread.  Look close to see BOO!

Now let me share the next blocks for Emerald Chilhowie...I'm getting very close to finishing all the blocks that will get me to 102" by 112" size.

Nothing changes the stash numbers this week.  Kolony and Halloween Broken Daisy have already been accounted for.  I've got a trip and a retreat coming soon.  Time to visit my parents and sister.  Hopefully Scott and Austin will be in my visit too.  Then after the trip Sunshine Quilters Quilting Retreat in Temecula comes next.  Check out tomorrow's post to see the second 20 blocks on my Design Wall.

I have a bunch of blocks to share from all the stitching I was able to accomplish yesterday.  These blocks add to the 24 already sewn up.  As I mentioned these will be with lighter greens, medium purples, and new oranges in the remainder of the blocks.  Looking to add the spark that bringing in contrast accomplishes.

Today I received my Sunshine Challenge project and Halloween Broken Daisy placements from Kerry.  I cut the binding for both and stitched down the placement binding.  Hope to make some progress on them before sharing at the Sunshine monthly meeting tomorrow.  Anxious to see everyone since I missed the meeting in March.  I'll be sharing photos of the placements once I have the binding in place.  Of course you know the Sunshine Challenge project won't be shown until the reveal and judging at the May meeting.

I'm starting to prepare for a visit to my parents and the annual retreat.  Have some fun days ahead just around the corner!  Enjoy your week.

These are the next four towards the California King top that I'm making with the Chilhowie design by Bonnie Hunter.  These next blocks will have lighter greens and medium purples.  These were made during the week.

These are the next blocks to make.  All pieces cut and it's time to stitch!  That's exactly what I will be working on today.

Nothing to change number this week and likely not for awhile as I work to get this beast done =^.^=

I am back to Emerald Chilhowie.  This is where I left off (plus two more blocks) before the sewing for my Sunshine Quilt Guild 2022-2023 Challenge project required my attention.  I had gone twice to Rosie's for more fabrics in green, purple, orange, and neutrals.  I have the next two blocks cut and ready for stitching.  I hope to get to them this week.  Of course there are another 18 to be cut and sew to bring the blocks up to 42!

I plan to section into four when it comes time to assemble.  My Design Wall will only hold so much!  It certainly will be nice to share what I've been busy sewing =^.^=

Enjoy April everyone...the rain I think...has stopped in San Diego!

Obviously Simon's Cat Author has a funny sense of humor.  Those two cats get into so much trouble without wings =^.^=  The drawings and short stories Simon's Cat Author creates always put a smile on my face!  Did anyone pull one over on you this year on April Fools Day?

I also have a smile on my face that I got my challenge quilt in the mail yesterday for quilting by Kerry.  We have already communicated on certain quilting design theme and thread color.  I will be working on making a sleeve, preparing the binding, and of course the label.  The label will be kept off until after the May meeting where judging at the Sunshine Guild meeting will take place.

So finally there is a change to my fabric count in the used category!  Finally, back to being in the black for 2023.  Have a wonderful week.
