Krazy Krones under construction
And now there are four witches.  In the pizza box to be sewn up next is witch 5!

These are the three quilts that I finished binding during my vacation to the East Coast.  Krazy Kattle was my project on the plane ride.  Knautical and Kubicles were done at my parents home.  I suppose I should have kept one of them for the plane ride home...

Wendy!  Your project is finished.  I have the binding to prepare, but it is all ready for Kerry's Quilting just as soon as your back-order backing arrives from Sew Batik.  My day Sunday was consumed by this Marti Michelle design called L-Medallion.  I was determined to get it done before the month is done...YEAH...I did it!  The letters all mixed up to the right are for Kandle Kounting.  I plan to start hand stitching them to the top and right borders of the quilt later tonight.  A little dab of Roxane's glue will keep them in place as I go.

I will be pulling batik strips to start my September UFO, Kamp Kastles.  September is a full month for me.  I'm usually started; heck really finished with my UFO challenge by the middle of the month.  I've not even started this one.
Kerry has my binding queue full with four quilts right now.  Krazy Kattle (Till the Cows Come Home by Buggy Barn), Kubicles (Layer Upon Layer by Country Threads), Knautical (Scraps Ahoy by Judy Laquidara), and Kandle Kounting (Today is Your Birthday by Buggy Barn) are over the banister waiting for their turn.

Kubicles, July 2013 UFO Challenge
Today I have two finishes to report.  Layer Upon Layer a pattern by Country Threads that is my July 2013 UFO Challenge.  This project went together so quick.  The pattern calls for a Layer Cake, but instead I used nothing but stash.  The constant center block fabric is also the back plus a little more of a couple of the plaids.  These fabrics aren't my "go to" colors...maybe that's why it was easy to find them all in my stash...guess at one point they were.  I'm sure you know how that goes =^.^=.  Thanks to Janet O for coming up with the cute name.  I'm anxious to see what Aunt Marti selects as our challenge for August.

2013 San Diego Humane Society Donation
27th Annual Fur Ball
I Love Puppy Dogs by Patti Bartlett of Heart String Treasures was selected this year for the event.  Kerry and I have been donating a quilt (or two) annually now for nine years to help raise funds for the animals during this black tie gala.  The quilt becomes part of a "Home" basket that is auctioned.  Next year we plan to put smiles on cat lovers with cat theme :)!

My next project is commissioned.  It was started and then shelved.  The owner still wants it done so I'm going to pick up the pieces and finish it.  There will be more about this project tomorrow so tune back in to see what I'm up to next.  I'll leave you with my stats on this middle of July Sunday.  There are lots more moving their fabric stash around that you can read about through the links at Patchwork Times.

I have a couple of project going on this week.  First up is the 2013 San Diego Humane Society Fur Ball Donation.  I'm pretty happy with the way it looks.  Not a large project this year as compared to past years.  This donation marks the ninth year Kerry and I have donated a quilt for this annual event.  It is their largest fundraiser of the year.  Feels good doing something for the critters.  The event is scheduled for August 17th this year.

Next to accomplish in July is my UFO Challenge.  I have all the blocks done...time to put this project together.  I've settled on two names.  Time to flip a coin!  Will it be Krates or Kubicles?

Have a wonderful Friday!

First up is a finish!  Kaskade is complete.  This is a design by Deb Luttrell called Ice Castles.  It was published in McCall's Quilting magazine issue February 2009.  Kaskade is a 2011 UFO.  It measures 78" x 87".  Only two more to go off that 2011 UFO list.  I have quite a few deadline projects in the next few months that will keep me busy, but I plan to get those last two done in 2013.
Now to my next project.  July 2013 UFO is Layer Upon Layer by Country Threads.  The fabrics for this project are a bit different than I usually lean towards.  The scale of the fabrics is small too.  Country Threads has there sample made up in reproduction fabrics.  I don't have much of that style in my stash.  I need 36 sets of different fabrics; I am at 24 right now.  Another search of my scrap 1 1/2" strips will probably turn up more fabrics for the remaining sets.
Since I'm just getting started nothing to put up quite yet on my Design Wall.  I will have something there soon rest assured!  See what others are working on through the links at Patchwork Times.

Sunday Stash Report, July 7, 2013

I pulled the fabrics that I'll be using for my July 2013 UFO.  This is a Country Threads pattern called Layer Upon Layer.  It calls for a 40 piece Layer Cake.  The Layer Cake is cut into various lengths of 1 1/2" wide pieces that come together surrounding a dark center.  I will be using my stash for this project and not all pieces are Layer Cake size (10" square).  I started my fabric pulling with the three plaids that are in the center.  I'll either use a dark navy or the teal polka dot in the center for the dark centers.  I have lots of the teal polka dot which will definitely be most of the back if that becomes it's only use.  Kubicle was suggested as a name for this project...any more ideas out there?

I'm continuing today on assembling Kaskade.  I will have more photos on Kaskade tomorrow.  Until next week I have nothing to report either way to my stash.  Kaskade is coming next week!

Kaskade Today with twirled stars!
Thanks everyone for your suggestions on arrangements of some of the stars.  Can you see a difference?  I swapped one dark block for a light one that has a darker background.  I knew I wanted to move that light with the darker background towards the side.  I also swapped out the centers on a couple.  I think this version is a go!  Full steam ahead later tonight!

July 2013 UFO #8, Layer Upon Layer
This is the project to work on in July.  It is a Country Threads design that I knew would work well with my stash.  It's yet to be named with one of my special "K" names, but will definitely be on my Design Wall this weekend.

Both of the ice cream quilts for the 1st/2nd graders of Moore, OK are done and will be in the mail this week.  Kerry's patriotic mini is up next now that I have all the fabrics at hand.  I'm still planning on it being finished when I see her on Saturday!

Enjoy your Wednesday...
