Kontingency
2017 UFO
I am working to ready Koldplay 2019 UFO for taking to Kerry's Quilting.  Tomorrow is Sunshine Quilt Guild monthly meeting where I'll be seeing Kerry.  Kontingency is finished with quilting and comes back to me.  I will be sewing on this project during my flight to visit with my parents.  Guess what I'll be doing Wednesday evening?

I also plan to take two projects that are not started 2018 UFOs, small, and kitted.  These are designs from Pam Buda.  The naming game has begun =^.^=

I'm sure to get several of the Old Italian Blocks back from members of Sunshine for the 2020 Opportunity Quilt that I am coordinating for the Guild.  The BOM for March will be offered too.  I have Kreepy Kins and Konstitution to share.  It is sure to be a good night with Lynn Mann as our speaker.

Sunday Stash Report, February 3, 2019

Today is Super Bowl.  We will be sitting in front of the television with friends watching the game.  If it gets to bad to watch Konstitution is ready for me.  This is a big quilt!  I'll be working on the hand sewing of binding for a few hours.

The backing and batting are cut to size and ready for the magic Kerry performs.  There will need to be some sampling of thread and the choosing of quilting design for Kyanite.  I have the fabric from my recent purchases at RD2CA for the binding when time comes.

Sorry for the darkness of these photos.  I took them early in the morning when the light wasn't the best.  As dreary as San Diego has been since Thursday with all the much needed rain fall...the days haven't been very bright.  I will take one better soon of Kreepy Kins that you can see on my website.  Until the next time =^.^=

I am building my fabrics for Happy Place by Susan Emory.  For longer than I can remember this grouping of FQs came to me from Quiltmaker.  There hasn't been a place to use them until now.  Road to California is next weekend YIPPEE!  I will be using these as the base for the project.

Requirements call for 12 FQs.  Several coordinating fabrics were harvested from stash.  The large black and white dot will be for the back.

Then there came a trip to Paradise Sewing, Poway, CA.  Everything you see on the left from the black and white dot came home with me.  I purchased FQs of each of the solid looking fabrics except for the orange and the stripe.  The stripe will also be used for the binding.

The extra orange was cut for the binding of my Pumkin' Patch by Bonnie Hunter.  My project is called Kreepy Kins (thanks Caleb).  Kreepy Kins measures 56 x 70 and will be my project for Sunday's NFL Playoff Games.

Sunday Stash Report, October 7, 2018

Happy to have this UFO complete.  Caleb came up with the name for this one.  Couldn't resist Kreepy Kins!  I put the back together today and it is ready for quilting.  Now to pick out the next UFO to work on...

This block is Sunshine's BOM for October.  It was hard for me to find Fall fabric in my stash.  I think this will work.

Excited to see some numbers change this week!

The first three borders are finished.  Everything is still needs to be assembled, but the flying geese need to be made for the last of the borders.
I have started!  The gray corners need to be cut in pairs.  I doing the stitch and flip method to attach them to the orange geese.  There are many more to be cut and stitched yet...this week's sewing =^.^=

I hope this first day of October has been good for you!  Happy sewing -

Sunday Stash Report, September 30, 2018

I've still not come up with a name for my Punkin' Patch Bonnie Hunter project.  I have had a few suggestions, but nothing seems to fit yet.  The photo above captures half of the #2 border (pieced green/gray) that is sewn and the units yet to attach.  The gray strips are what will be #3 border.  I only have one more side of the #3 border to assemble and this is it.
These units are the start of the last #2 border.  It takes 56 units for the top or bottom.  I haven't counted yet, but think a few more will be needed.  I'll work on assembling with darker green patches.  I have exhausted my green 1.5" strips except for more lighter shaded green.  No worries the darker green is easily had in my stash.
Here's the project right now.  I'm getting close to the #4 border which will be orange flying geese with gray corners.  Will be making a bunch of them.  I hope to get this last border started tomorrow while watching Dancing With The Stars.

Punkin' Patch (yet to be "K" named) is moving right along.  I have all the pumpkins done now; paper removed and all.  I did make one extra that I might use versus one of the medium gray background blocks...we will see.

The #2 border will take some time to sew.  Total there will be 214 finished 1" x 4" units of green/gray.  I have about half of them done.  Besides #1 and #3 gray finished 1" strip borders there is a #4 border of orange flying geese with gray background.

Above is a photo of the layout.  There is still quite a bit of sewing to do =^.^=

I mentioned that I'd share a photo of Kastaway with my last post.  Isn't it cute?  The bling didn't make it, but to the San Diego Quilt Show over the weekend it did.  The design by Paula Ashworth Lewis called Catnip Trip Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is adorable.  I hope in a couple of months to get Picnic a second one of her designs when the pattern is back in print.  If you are interested in having one of Paula's designs you can inquire at Sweet Darling Quilts out of Lutz, Florida at 813-994-2994.

As many of you already know I earned a Blue Ribbon at the San Diego Quilt Show with KurryKurry took 1st Place in the Traditional Pieced Quilt category.  I hope Kurry will make the cut for 2019 Road to California as I will be entering it this week.

While offering chances on Sunshine's Opportunity Quilt at the San Diego Quilt Show I was working on Bonnie Hunter's Punkin' Patch design.  These are about half the finished 1" by 4" units that will be used in the border.  This one just makes me happy to be working on now that Fall and pumpkin season are on us.  I'll have more to share about this project tomorrow on my Design Wall post.

This week I have been working on Punkin'Patch.  I find myself happy working on the string project.  I am still thinking about a name for this one so if you have any ideas please share.

I have several more pumpkins ready for their stem and background along with lots more of all pieces to cut.  Thanks to my sister I have not needed to dig in my yardage stash quite yet.  The gray/green 1" checkerboard border looms.

The first four blocks of Punkin' Patch project are finished.  I have quite a bunch of orange strips to make more of the pumpkin unit along with 18 more gray sections cut to size.  Tonight I'll be sewing strings!
This project was fun!  They are raw edge flowers...hopefully the look like sunflowers 😊  There was a workshop this past Thursday with my Mom's guild.  This was the project everyone was working on.  It was fun working together, Mom and I, on the project.  We finished six of them during the time.  They should ravel to the 1/4" stitch line once washed.  The plan is to use nine of them for a small wall hanging and the other three for a table runner.

Today is my first day back to work!  It should be a very busy day.

Sunday Stash Report, September 9, 2018

These fabrics are mostly a gift from my Sister.  The grays and oranges will be used in the Bonnie Hunter project called Punkin' Patch.  Punkin' Patch is one of my 2018 UFOs.

The neutral was a great freebie that Mom picked up for me at her Quilters by the Bay monthly meeting.  It worked out that I was in Maryland for the September meeting.  I've been there once before so it was real nice to see many familiar faces.
These charm packs were gifted from Mom.  No idea what to use them on right now, but something will come along.  I only purchased one yard of fabric so that will be all that is added this week.

Strings are what I want to work with next...  Punkin' Patch designed by Bonnie Hunter is just the right answer.  From my 2018 UFO List, this one is #7.  Mom gifted me grays and oranges earlier this year.  I'll be using that fabric and a bunch of my own to put this one together.  Foundation pieces have been copied and the first two of 49 string pumpkin units have been sewn.  Kerry is also making this project so there will be some sharing of fabrics likely.  I will be taking this on my trip...that leaves tomorrow!

Looking forward to spending time with my family for ten days.  Scott (BIL) picks me up close to midnight.  I will be spending the night at their home.  Breakfast with long time friend Teri the next day.  Mom and Dad pick me up around 11am.  It will be a busy couple of days.  Karen will be joining us on either Friday or Saturday for the weekend.  This time of year is hard for her since she works with the school system and its the first days of the school year.

The four of us travel to the Richmond area for a visit with Tiffany (niece) and Matt.  It will be the first time my parents and I see their new home.  Well got to go and pack =^.^=.  Hope you have a great week.

I added just a bit to finish Kompass.  The bottom fabric became the binding.  The top gray dot will be for a future project.  That future project is Bonnie Hunter's Pumpkin' Patch.  Have you seen it in Quiltmaker Sep/Oct 17 issue?

Usage comes from finishing a project started in 2012 with Jo's Country Junction.  Each month for the entire year participants were to make one of the 12" x 12" blocks to finish however we decided.  I made three blocks from each of the three patterns by Lori Smith Quilt Squares #1, #4, and #6.  This year one of my UFOs was to put these 12 blocks together into a quilt.  A sashing that worked to bring all of them together was figured out.  I thought the green squares pulled it all in pretty well.  My plan will be for a blue binding fabric once it is quilted.  The blue should pull it in again.
