Design Wall Monday. August 18. 2025

The next applique pieces are lined up for stitching.  I got the yellow and orange pieces down during the past week.  The stems are what's next.  The stem ends on the leaves will be turned under 1/4".  The middle will get three circles with the largest one covering the unfinished ends of the stems and the tips of the yellow and orange pieces.

The sunflower block is moving along nicely.  It does take some time to get around the yellow part of the sunflower.  Read to stitch is the second sunflower and the brown circle that makes the center of the sunflower.  The placement is critical on the background because each of the applique blocks get trimmed down before stitching the top together.  You might be able to make out my 10 1/2" marks on each side of the block; this will be the cutting line.  There is little clearance, usually 1/2" between the cutting line and the applique.  When the block is stitched into the top there will be 1/4" wiggle room before the applique...tight!

This is Autumn Love Week 8.
