2018 At A Glance, January 1, 2019

Projects coming out of my sewing room in 2018 are really too few to mention.  This trend for the last two years may have something to do with my family.
Kosmo and Katastrophy
These two in particular, but don't think that DH didn't have his moments too.
Kutarug
Kutarug finished with over 4,000 pieces.  We use it as our bed cover so I am reminded of all the work that went into its making each and every day.  Nine other projects were finished and three others (all at once) on my sewing table.
Kreepy Kins
Kaffe Kisses, Konstitution, Kandiyohi, Kontingency, Kreepy Kins, and Knightley are with Kerry's Quilting.  Just this past Saturday I saw Kreepy Kins on the long arm with witches and spiders being stitched across it.

Continuing the trend of using the fabric I have in my stash, 138.75 yards of cotton moved under my needle in projects throughout the year.  There were a few yards purchased, but only to get projects done.  If one were to compare 2017 to 2018 it would be surprising to note 2018 came out better.  I am shaking my head about this reality as I write.

Used this week: 0 yards
Used YTD: 138.75 yards (2017, 110.5 yards)
Purchased this week: .25 yards
Purchased YTD: 44 yards (2017, 64.75 yards)
Net used in 2018: 94.75 yards (2017, 47.75 yards)

Eight 2018 UFO projects are still to complete.  2018 has by far been the worst at working off my UFO list.
Florence Flamingo
These not completed projects are at the top of my list for finishes in 2019.  A UFO list for 2019 has not even been thought out yet.  Maybe I will just add four projects and call it my 2019 UFO List...

2018 UFO "and still" List

  1. Kyanite
  2. Kilkenny Kat
  3. Florence Flamingo (yet to be named)
  4. Clover (yet to be named)
  5. Winter-ific (yet to be named)
  6. Rebecca's Needles
  7. Checkerboard Stars
  8. Starburst

Kurry
Kurry sits at Ontario, CA waiting for judging that will take place in January.  I was doing a happy dance earlier this month when word was received that it had been accepted into the 2019 Road to California Quilter’s Showcase.  Kourageous didn't do as well as I had hoped in the 2018 Road to California Quilter's Showcase, but there is promise with KurryKurry was presented a Blue Ribbon in its category at the 2018 San Diego Quilt Show.  Keep your fingers crossed for me!
Koldplay, Part 6
Today has Quiltvillians at Part 6 of Bonnie Hunter’s 2018 Mystery #GoodFortune.  This year I opted to make half the size of the project that will be called Koldplay.  Depending on the reveal I may be tempted to make the other half!

For portability in my sewing three purchases were made that included a SewEzi sewing table, a Container Store Bungee Office Chair (you wouldn’t believe how comfortable sitting in it is), and a Janome 3160 QDC sewing machine.  Each of these will get lots of use for years to come.

So again I ask, which"K" name is your favorite this past year?  I'd sure be excited to hear your suggestions for projects yet to be named.  My parade of finishes in 2018 for your viewing pleasure.

Kurry 5/18
Kutarug 6/18
Klever 6/18
Kongure 5/18
Kraft 6/18
Violet Anne's Tractor 8/18
Kastaway 9/18
Kapricorn 11/18
Kanton Kull 11/18

I close this year hoping there are more finishes in 2019.  Happy New Year!

I think the sewing table is far better than a Horn cabinet. The Janome, is it more portable? And the quilt, wonderful award.

Kutarug just blows my mind! Wonderful job on that, Sandi!
Kongrats on the award for Kurry--well deserved.
When I looked at the flamingo quilt, the first thing that caught my eye was the "knock knees". So my name suggestion for that one is Knock-kneed. Not a pretty name, for sure. :)
