I made a huge amount of progress before going to sleep. This had to do with getting in the sewing room earlier...we had leftovers! What's not to like with spaghetti the second night?
I took a suggestion from Janet about the inner border. I do agree that a light fabric might be a better choice. I was pretty partial to the green so I found another fabric where there was just enough to do the job. I have the main top sewn together right now. The inner border will go on later today and then of course the pieced units for the next border. The more I look at this project the more I think that the pieced border will finish Kalvert Kliffs. A dark green fabric is on my mind for the binding when the time comes. Not sure if Marti at 52quilts.com can wait for my finish late tonight. I'll warn her it's coming...=^.^=...

I have been working on finishing Kalvert Kliffs by the end of March. I am not so sure it will happen :(!
Starting after dinner and kitchen cleanup, I only had one pieced border unit sewn. All fortunately were cut into the pieces I would need. Some of the squares were marked for the sew line, but most were yet to draw. I had that done when KoKo came to sit with me.
You see he is pondering what I will use for the inner border... From the fabrics that remain that are big enough there is green...
Sorry but there wasn't enough room on the wall for setting the pieced border units next to the third choice. Do you have a favorite? The inner border is 2" finished so it will be the same size as the units that make up the blocks. After the pieced border another solid border is part of the design. It will probably end up being black.
The calendar isn't standing still =^.^=

Did you locate all the eggs? Did you find the golden egg? Yes, I suppose these are questions for the children in our lives... Did you have an Easter egg hunt at your house? We enjoyed dinner with family and I didn't have to cook more than one scrumptious apple pie!
I have my March UFO up on the design wall. The units are still in pieces, but I'm pretty certain this will be the layout for Kalvert Kliffs. The pieced border is still yet to stitch. I should get some good time in tonight.
I showed you Kaffe Kisses completion yesterday, but I would like to hear opinions on a binding. I once thought a diagonal would be a good choice, but now with all the wildness perhaps the solid green is better?

I didn't spend much time stitching this weekend. I did manage to eek in sewing 12 units of Kaffe Kisses together and trimming them down. It is hard to see my accomplishment, but they are the units on the right. I am still not sure I like the four gray units coming together in the middle. Perhaps making two more with a different solid would look better. Time will tell =^.^=. The more that goes together the easier it will be to decide.
The first four blocks of 60 are sewn for Kalvert Kliffs. I will be putting four of the same color together, but there are two other colors involved; green and blue. That's it for now! There are more design walls to see through the links at Patchwork Times.

I am working on getting the pieces of Kaffe Kisses into blocks. The first step is putting the halves of the units together, next the trimming...
These blocks have already been trimmed. I have ten done to this point. There are a total of 36 blocks.
Kalvert Kliffs is coming along too. The stack on the left have finished the first stitching. The stack on the right are ready for the needle. It is a rather swift process once the sewing lines are down.
This is the finished unit. Looks like I am on track for a finish of March UFO by the end of the month.
Nothing to change the stats this week either. Still have the red negative number to report...time for a change is just around the corner =^.^= Hope your week is off to a good start. See more stash movers through the links of Patchwork Times.

Konstitution Month 3 |
Kalvert Kliffs has a start. There is quite a lot of marking to do on one of the neutral 5" squares. I will be working on this over the next couple of days. You sew on the lines then cut the square in half both ways to end up with three HSTs and two solid squares. In the middle you can see the finished block. This is my UFO for March with 52Quilts.
Last but not least, the binding is ready to put on my Mom's Expect the Unexpected project. This is a big quilt coming in 84" x 98". TV time with DH is ahead!Hope you have time to see other projects through the links today at Patchwork Times. Happy sewing =^.^=.

The rest of the day will be cutting the 5" squares of neutrals for Kalvert Kliffs. I have a bunch of 5" strips ready for the next cut. I have to make 120 pairs of neutrals to match the 120 pairs of darks. Next step is subcutting and assembly of the 5" dark/neutral pairs.

I picked up during the week the very pretty orchid called Black Sapphire. It is the one that is nearly blue. These five grace my island counter in the kitchen. I am struggling with the variety on the far right. It is a different type of orchid that I haven't had much success with.
No finishes to report yet. I sure am anxious to see the numbers turn BLACK! Link into Patchwork Times if you have time.

I hope to have something done during my long weekend to share on Monday when I link up with Patchwork Times.
You know how excited we get when the postal person brings us a package that is unexpected? Well I got an awesome one today from my friend Janet. She gifted me a mini that she made from a bunch of HSTs that I gifted her not too long ago. Thank you so very much for having me in mind. I already have it on display in my sewing room so that I can gaze at it often. You certainly made my day a happy one =^.^=

52Quilts.com selected the project to be worked this month. It will be #2.
Kalvert Kliffs will have its turn on the sewing table. (Calvert Cliffs is a town that meets the Chesapeake River.) There is a lot of sorting through my stash for the right darks. A Twin is in the making. I will be using nothing but stash and will need 140 pairs (that's two) of 5" squares.
57 rectangles that will make two 5" squares is what I have now, but there is more to cut.
I'm planning reds, blues, and greens as a start. If the stash won't give me what's desired black might enter in.
