Sunday Stash Report, October 18, 2020

This is Kopernikus ready for me to give the last hand stitches.  Love me some hand stitching!

I was with Kerry on Friday as she was visiting for the weekend.  We sat at Oggi's in Santee on their patio for several hours just catching up.  We had not been together since last year.  Thank goodness for video chatting to keep us close.  She had been traveling lately and came across these treasures plus some Huckleberry Jam and a Huckleberry Scented Candle. Thank you Kerry!

I did have some enhancements this week.  Primitive Gatherings background fabric that I thought would work for Gray Stone Farm Blue project.  It is 1 1/2 yards, but I ruled it out for the intended purpose.  The print is a bit too dark for the blues.  Not a huge loss as it can always work for another project.  The Gray Stone Farm Blue project is similar to two others like it that I gifted.  I just like the pattern and had already pulled a collection of blues from my stash that didn't work for Grayson's quilt.  The other one is the one in pinks that is being gifted to Irelyn.  The magazine was an unexpected gift from Primitive Gatherings.  There will likely be a project coming from it in my sewing room in the future.  Thank you Primitive Gatherings!

I also used the remaining Amazon funds from a birthday gift card received from my parents.  Kerry gave this idea to get a new light box.  So that's what I did along with a new pair of Kai scissors.  This light pad has three brightness settings, a much longer cord and a much larger surface.  It is on 1/4" wide and light as a feather.  A far superior light pad than the relic it replaces.  It will get some immediate use when I get back to Autumn Love.

So this week I add to my stash and still have nothing used.  I am working to have two finishes for the mail this week to Kerry for quilting.  If this happens I'll be able to show progress to using up my stash next week.  Until next time =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, September 27, 2020

Kopernikus finished during the week YIPPEE!  One more 2020 UFO project completed; this one was #4.  Kerry already has it in her hands for quilting.  We will be discussing what thread and design for the quilting to apply on this one.

I did get #12 UFO project cut out.  This one is a small one called Prairie Winds by Pam Buda.  It finishes at 25 x 30.  I didn't have a Mardi Gras quilt, but that will change soon.  It is all cut out and ready to sew.  I will have to determine what to use for the two inner borders.  The gold/yellow/purple fabric will be used for the outer border.

Next was preparing Kaitlyn's baby quilt.  The prints are for the most part cut; there is another forty 1 1/2 inch squares to go before I can call this step finished.  The neutral will be after that.

Finally, my mind has begun to figure out how to use these three fabrics for a charity quilt.  November is the proposed time to turn over Sunshine Charity Quilts to Becky's House.  We are trying for another outstanding donation that tops the last.

Sunday Stash Report, September 20, 2020

 

Star Strings by Pam Buda has been keeping me occupied this past week.  I had wanted to work on the Candy Cat project, but....  This is #4 2020 UFO project.  My sister recently gifted me the pebble setting triangle fabric and there has been a FQ collection of grays that has been in my stash for awhile.  I brought in more and several neutrals to create these star units that finish at 4".  The string star centers finish at 2".  There are eight  1/4" finished strings in each one.  Guess what part of this project was challenging?  I'm at the "sewing the rows together" part of the project.  Should have something used next week.

My sister-in-law Rita sent me the cutest cat themed fabric she gifted me.  Little did she know that I am on the hunt for cat themed fabric for Candy Cats.  I quickly matched it up with fabrics from my stash and...

Here is block 16 =^.^=  I'll be back to this project as soon as Star Strings finishes.

One Sister sent me notification of the most darling pumpkin pattern.  I know I don't need yet another pumpkin, but although I resisted for about two days...

There will be another pumpkin project in my future!

Design Wall Monday, September 14, 2020

The foundation papers arrived so I will be back in business making more Candy Cat blocks.

These are combinations I hope to do something with.  The purpley pinks on the right are ready along with the yellow and black at the top left.  I'm still working on the other three.

I am very anxious to get back to Star Strings #4 2020 UFO.  Perhaps there will time this week to get from cut units to a few sewn blocks.  Have a wonderful week ahead.

Sunday Stash Report, September 6, 2020

 

There are two finishes today!  First up is the 2019 UFO #5, A Quilt for Mrs Chalmers.  I didn't get much help with names this time out and I'm not feeling the suggestion (keep trying though).  I was laughingly thinking A Kwilt for Kwiltnkats, but that is pretty silly!  I brought mine down in size to 41 x 49 1/2 inches.  I'm tossing around a couple of fabrics for a back.  I have a binding already decided upon.

My second finish is not a UFO.  It is the Jelly Snowflake Mystery that Sue coordinated for several of us recently.  I do have a name inspired by the word imagine a word that I picked up from the National Geographic Channel on Elephants.  The true story is how an elephant that was being mistreated and illegally used to gain wealth for it's owner was rescued.  The group that did the rescue does a spiritual ritual once the elephant is free.  During the ritual the elephant is given a name.  The elephant in the story was given the name Kalpana which means imagine.  So Kalpana my mystery project becomes finishing at 39 x 39 inches.

I am back to starting on another UFO.  This time a 2020 UFO #4, Star Strings by Pam Buda.  The setting triangles (blue in pattern) are the stones at the top.  My sister picked up this fun fabric not too long ago.  The pieces already cut will become the backgrounds for the 32 stars.  I have various strips in neutrals planned for the center of the stars with the tips of the stars also using the same neutrals.  The pattern gets it's name from the center of the stars.  The star blocks will finish at 4 inches square.  Another small project.

Before I get further into the Star Strings project there are four sets of fabrics selected for more Candy Cats =^.^=  Next post might have some new cats to add to the eleven that are done now.  Oh, there are also four 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch string blocks to be made for the October Sunshine BOM.  The guild is ready to get going with Zoom!  Our September meeting is Tuesday.  Until tomorrow I submit to you new stash numbers!  Hope you are keeping cool.  It is hotter than hot in San Diego today.  Thankfully AC is on...
