Sunday Stash Report, April 5, 2026

Happy Easter!  I wanted to start off with finishes on this beautiful day.  Krested (aka Fancy Feathers Bird Topper by Karen Brow of Java House Quilts) is ready for our table.  This is a UFO from a class with Karen arranged by Sunshine Quilt Guild in October.  It wasn't a UFO for too long.  Most of the reason for not finishing right away was the way the pattern finished just too narrow for my liking.  I added the top and the bottom beyond the birds finally making it just right for us.

Karpenter (Honey Bee's In Lavender Table Runner by Debbie Beaves) is another table runner finished for our table.  By the way Carpenter is a type of bee if you didn't know.  This project came to me as a kit.  It is rather small, but it's darn cute for the summer.  I had to really search hard for a lavender thread for the binding.  It seems I am not a big lavender quilter LOL.  This project was started in February.  It isn't a UFO; one of the few being stitched right now.

Kristmas Karoling (Mistletoe Moments 2025 Jolly Box by Fat Quarter Shop) is the last finish of the three that came back from Kerry this past week.  It was started in August last year and is ready for the holidays this year.  I am hoping the scraps of red fabric in the large gift box is enough for another project in my queue.  This is the last project of the mystery boxes I have been getting from Fat Quarter Shop to finish.  This is a UFO with a surprise fabric used for the back...

I did bring home several pieces of fabric for various projects that are being stitched right now.  Learn about all of these in tomorrow's Design Wall Monday post.

Design Wall Monday, March 30, 2026

Soon this project will be on my Design Wall.  As the name implies it starts with a nine-patch tossed around; cutting through the centers and rearranging.  The smaller design was introduced to me at Quilt in a Day at the first Accuquilt meeting that I attended last year.  I have fabrics and ric rac ordered through ETSY supliers to compliment my stash.  

I can get the blocks ready for the sashing, but will need to wait on the corner stone fabric and ric rac before moving any further.  These items should arrive as early as next week.

In the meantime I am readying the binding for three projects arriving tomorrow from Kerry.  I am also printing labels because the sweet four labels per sheet is met!

There is going to be progress on several UFO projects in the next few days.  Come Working Wednesday post you should be WOWED.  Check back and see what's going on.

Sunday Stash Report, February 22, 2026

Karpender, as in the carpender bee, is finished.  Once Kerry gets to working on the quilting that will be lavender thread in a bee design will be stitched.  The back is the same as the lavender flower fabric used in the outer border.  The binding will be the lavender bee fabric used in the inner border.  This table runner will look nice on our table.  It will finish 16" x 30".

I am looking for inspiration to make this Fancy Feathers table runner wider.  This is a 2026 UFO that I would love to finish.  I like what is going on so far, but it is to skinny.  I have plenty of fabric to work with; a good thing right?  Maybe I will try the black and white stripe as an outer border and use the same dark flowery batik where the center stripe is located.  Well that will be the first idea to try.

Kasa Kassena came back to me last week from Kerry.  I just love the quilting design called Feathered Berries.  I have it trimmed up and ready for when the binding arrives from Fat Quarter Shop.  The binding fabric will be the same yellow/green as the last snowball on the right bottom.

Wednesday Workings, February 18, 2026

 

This isn't a UFO, but it is one that has been with me for a little while.  I wanted something to work on that would be quick and make one less project in my "to do" tote (the biggest reason).  In this photo I only have one petal to finish before I can start building the table runner.  The applique went quick although it was a little tricky at the points because of how slender they became.

This is what it will eventually look like.  Guess I will be looking for a bee species that I can convert to a "K" name (if it isn't already).  My Aqua Fit was cancelled today :(  My monthly massage is still on!  Starting to count down to my trip east.  The last couple of days this week are busy for me.  I am expecting to see Kasa Kassena at my doorstep soon.

Design Wall Monday, February 16, 2026

I decided to pull this kit out of storage.  It is called Honey Bee's In Lavender.  It is a table runner that will look nice on our table during the spring.  The pieces on the mat are cut and ready for stitching.

The dark lavender piece in the top photo uses these applique pieces around the nine patch blocks.  I'm using my favorite needle turn method with the Avery label paper.  There are a total of 36 applique pieces, 12 on each of the 3 nine patch blocks.

I have assembled as far as the instruction suggests.  The bottom right have the first applique pieces basted in place.  Time to stitch =^.^=

This is a picture of the completed table runner. I like the bees, but you need to look close for them :) 

We have a very stormy day in San Diego today.  Forecast calls for a dry Tuesday and again a stormy day on Wednesday.  This storm is coming from the north and has the heater coming on...  The day is perfect for some hand stitching with the Olympics on TV.
