Wednesday Workings, March 25, 2026

Happy to have another UFO completed.  Kontroversy looks great with it's light pinks and blues highlighted with the dark purples.  Honestly, I wasn't quite sure it would fit my taste, but I love it.  As usual this is a big project that Bonnie Hunter tends to design.  It is Lupine & Laughter the 2025 Winter Mystery.  Thank you Pam for helping me with the pinks =^.^= 

I am looking forward to sharing it in person with Sunshine Quilt Guild at the April monthly meeting.  I will be presenting a Trunk Show of all the Winter Mysteries from the very first of her designs to the latest.  It should be quite the show with twenty some quilts to share.

Sunday Stash Report, March 22, 2026

Kasa Kassena is finished.  There has been a lot of delay in getting the monthly installments by Fat Quarter Shop.  Not certain what the delay is about, but we have been given ample fabrics in each installment to be in a position to finish the project except for the binding fabric.  I got ancie so ordered a yard and finished it.  There are two installments yet to be sent out that will be used for something else.

Tuscan Trellis pattern was delivered along with Kontroversy.  I am a little more than a quarter around Kontroversy.  Likely I'll have this 2026 UFO done in the next couple of days.  I love it!  A very light pink thread was used for the quilting.  We found a Lupine design to further Bonnie Hunter's Winter Mystery theme.  Honestly I didn't think I'd like the light pinks and light blues as it reminded me so much of a project for a youngester.  As it turns out this isn't the case.  The purple plays in nicely too.  The Tuscan Trellis pattern comes from a class at Road to California by Jemima Flendt.  I didn't take this class, but wanted the pattern.  Someday I will get to making it.

As for stash, my sister took me to a quilt shop and I picked up a few fabrics.  The top right will be a charcoal for Moondance.  Mom had very little to choose from in her stash as did I.  I may have to look around for two or three more.  The ric rac and the three grays were purchased with thoughts towards the Kitten cross stitch project.  The lighter gray is from a line called Kitty Litter.  The plaid is what appeals to me most.  Will be auditioning just what works shortly.  I only have a few more blocks to stitch.

So for now there is a bump up in the purchased and nothing to change the used.

Sunday Stash Report, February 15, 2026

Have the back sewn together 10 blocks by 10 blocks each finishing at 9.5 inches (started with 10 inch squares).  Kontroversy will be off to Scottsdale tomorrow.  It wil be the last of the Bonnie Hunter Mystery quilts that my Trunk Show to Sunshine Quilters in April will showcase.  It will get a purple binding.

I picked up two Sunshine Charity quilt kits at the January meeting.  Lorna is hoping to collect 60 R/W/B quilts this year.  This is the first one that is primarily red with a diagonal of Community Signature blocks running from top to bottom.

This is the second kit with the Community Signature blocks in a different pattern.  It mixes in more blue squares.

This is quilt pulls in my blue squares with a touch of red.  The signature blocks are also in a different pattern.  They may or may not be signed by the Community.  Lorna will make that decision.  I included the binding, but had no R/W/B fabric enough for a back.  Lorna will certainly have something from the Sunshine Charity stash of donated fabrics.

Finally, this block is 12.5 inches and is the February BOM for Sunshine coordinated by Pam.  It is called Love Notes.

Wednesday Workings, February 11, 2026

 

I am just moving through my 2026 UFO List!  I had so much in work towards the end of the year is partly why.  Krinkleberry is the first of several you will see in the next month or so.  Kerry has several in her queue that will soon make their way to me.

Kontroversy's back is staged on my design wall.  100 10" blocks are ready to sew together.  There are all kinds of prints from the very cute cats to the adorable pigs.  A few wordy blocks and all kinds of stripes and dots are in this back.

The scraps are destined for Moonflower.  Again my Accuquilt Cutter will be used for the 2.5" strips.  Moonflower will also use grays and golds.  I have an abundance of grays; golds not so much, but little is needed of this color.

Before sewing this one I took the easier finish stitching together a bit more fabric to Mistletoe Moment's back.

Another Kitten cross stitch block was finished making it the fourth.  I am already far into the fifth block with only the turquoise yarn to stitch out.

Design Wall Monday, February 9, 2026

 

Today was installation day for two windows in our home.  The installers were working until around 3pm.  I worked on binding Krinkleberry during this time.  Missed aqua fit since they were to arrive between 8 and 9am.  They showed up right on time =^.^=  We are very happy with the result.  When asked if we plan to do any more windows I responded maybe when we rebound from the cost of these two!

Not much to show quite yet with Krinkleberry.  I want to have it done for Sunshine Guild monthly meeting tomorrow night.  I will share a photo with you on my Wednesday Workings post.

I have also been working on gathering fabrics with a white background for cutting into 10" squares to make a back for Kontroversy.  My Accuquilt Cutter will be used for this task.  Remaining pieces will be cut into 2.5" strips for the many HSTs for Moonflower.

Finally, I needed to cut a bit more to add to the 2025 Jolly Box panel to be enough for a back for Mistletoe Moments.  The panel was just about perfect in size.  I realize this isn't conventional, but I'm not planning to make another tree skirt or two stockings.  The fabric is printed with the same prints used in the top so why not?

Wednesday Workings, February 4, 2026

Happy to share this finish!  It is Bonnie Hunter's Winter Mystery (XXI), Lupine & Laughter.  It is one to mark as done on my 2026 UFO List.  The colors of the quilt are inspired by the Iceland Trip with Bonnie and Quilters.  Lupine is a species of flower that grows all over Iceland.  There is a lot of controversy over the purple lupine flowers, Nootka Lupine.  It was introduced as a reforestation and soil reclamation effort.  The controversy surrounding the flower has to do with outcompeting native plants, biodiversity loss, and encroachment on protected areas.  Icelandic authorities and environmental organizations are working to strike a balance for the lupine.  I bring this all up so you might understand why I am naming my quilt Kontroversy.  This project was fun to sew.  I did not think that I would like the colors of the finished project, but Bonnie has a way of making design and color work...

I played with my sewing machine's stitch options.  I have done this before on a couple of projects, but in the years I have owned my machine I could count them on one hand.  My Sunshine BOM is a box of candies from the company Cupid Candies.  Makes me smile =^.^=

Design Wall Monday, February 2, 2026

 

My Design Wall is filled with Lupine & Laughter (2026 UFO).  I need to sew the blocks and rows together first.  The blue strips are the inner border.  I have my fingers crossed there is enough =^.^=  Finally, the pieced outter border is together and ready for what's next for them.

Kottages up in the corner is a 2022 UFO that needs to finish!!  First though is Lupine & Laughter.

This is Sunshine Quilters January BOM coordinated by Pam.  I thought making a candy box might be fun.  Thanks to you, I have several ideas for stitching a name on the ribbon.  While I was sleeping last night I had the idea "Cupid's Candies".  I may just have to put all the ideas in a hat and pull one!

Kultivation is finished!  I just love it.  This is a Kim Diehl design called Scatter Garden.  It is one to check off my 2025 UFO List...YIPPEE =^.^=

Kwartz Kat is finished!  Yes everyone, another Halloween themed project.  This is a project called Onyx in Autumn by Jessica Dayon.  I seem to remember that Bernina who distributed the pattern had a series of seasonal table runners.  It is one to check off my 2025 UFO List...another YIPPEE =^.^=

It is obvious from my neutral stash alone that I am not sewing enough!  I am working today on Lupine & Laughter a 2026 UFO.  Then maybe I will get back to Kottages a 2022 UFO or the Fancy Feathers projects....

As for today, the first day of February, my stash count has a change.

Wednesday Workings, January 14, 2026

I've put all the Block 1s together on Lupine & Laughter.  They are so pretty.  I don't think I've ever sewn these three colors together in one quilt.

The Block 2s are yet to stitch.  Here is the first of them ready to go.  Just need to drag myself away from Scatter Garden.

These units are already done in previous parts.  The fun comes with figuring out which units go best with connecting units.  It really is so scrappy that in the end it won't matter on bit.

Scatter Garden is in the applique portion of the last four blocks before borders.  I am doing the applique on all four at the same time.  Progress to share with you will be slow, but then BAM, you will see them all at the same time.  I'm hoping for a reveal on Sunday.

I've also been cutting more for the workshop "Perfect Isn't the Point" that is next Tuesday.  I have enough cut that should get me through the time I will have to spend during the class.  I'm anxious to use the leftovers from Scatter Garden for the remaining pieces.

Design Wall Monday, January 12, 2026

 

Scatter Garden covers my design wall today.  I am working on the last four blocks that have some applique in them.  There was an alternate star instead of one with the applique, but the applique block was call out to be done.  I will have progress to share on my Working Wednesday post.

This was the last part released and the reveal.  Oh my this quilt is lovely.  These pieces make the block you see above.  Putting this one together shouldn't take too long.  I need to decide if one of the four ice blue fabrics will work for the inner border or if I should look for something else on Friday when it's a Rosie's day.

Sunday Stash Report, January 11, 2026

Let's us start out with the second finish of the year.  Home for the Holly Days a 2026 UFO is ready for quilting.  I like how this medallion quilt looks.  I did work it all the way through with scraps from previous month's deliveries.  The only one I will need is the last one that contains the binding fabric.  Of course I need to come up with a "K" name.  Working on this =^.^=

There was so much fabric left from the Home for the Holly Days project and Katniss (Garnets & Lillies) that I decided to use all up for the When Perfect Isn't the Point workshop.  The Confetti pattern takes 288 3.5" by 6.6" prints and background; should be easy to get that from what's left.  The workshop is next week so I'm getting ready.

Scatter Garden and Lupine & Laughter are under the needle and on the design wall.  I'm most anxious to get Scatter Garden in the "prep" phase on the last four blocks that all have applique units.  These two are on the UFO list along with Confetti.  Drop back in tomorrow to see progress on my projects.

Design Wall Monday, January 5, 2026

 Lupine & Laughter Part 7 sewing is finished.  Just need a quick press for these "kitty ears".

I have Month 7 sewn for Home for the Holly Days.  This month needs the corners trimmed and of course the press.  The next month puts the borders together...getting very close to a finish!

Scatter Garden is coming along too.  I have been stitching the "flowers" of Installment 4.  These are a bit involved; more so than the first two projects I shared.  Turns out I missed cutting out a 2" x 3" neutral that is needed for the eight "flowers".  I should have blocks to share on my Wednesday Workings post.

Wednesday Workings, December 31, 2025

Part 5 of Lupine & Laughter from Bonnie Hunter's Winter Mystery is complete.  There are 24 of this unit.  Part 5 had one cut purple 2.5" squares in purple and neutral along with Part 1 units.  Went together pretty fast.

I have started in on Part 6 that has us combining Part 3 and Part 4.  I paper pieced Part 4, but yet to remove the starting fabric's basting stitches or removed the paper except on this first set.  I'll be working on this as we move into the year 2026.

I have also been cutting the next units on both Home for the Holly Days and Scatter Garden.  Unless Bonnie has instore a lot of cutting and stitching on Part 7, I will have units to stitch on those two projects as well.

I realize I mentioned on my Design Wall Monday post that I would be sharing where I am with my other currently in work projects...but I'll wait until my year end post that will be published before Sunday Stash Report.  Have a safe and joyful start to the new year; imagine 2026 =^.^=

I'm busy working on Part 5 of Lupine & Laughter.  It takes just a bit of time to assemble this unit.  I have Part 6 ready to assemble tomorrow.  Going to try to get this project up-to-date before Friday when the next clue and possibly the last for this mystery to be released.

Sunday Stash Report, December 28, 2025

Kid's Kingdom turned out great.  This one had names of the zoo animals.  The letters were different from all the other Jack Dempsey Needle Art projects I have stitched.  The new one called Kittens is in work now.  I have three kittens done currently.  Sharing will happen soon.  This one stays with me says DH.

I continued working on the sashing my entire sewing day on Krinkleberry.  

Next up is the outside border.  It will be 3.5" cut and finish at 3".  Then it will be off to Arizona for some magic.  I best start looking in my stash for a backing...

Part 3 of Lupine & Laughter, all those HST, was finished.  Have Part 4 done.  So now it is on to assembly with Part 5 and Part 6.

I was hoping to change the stash count with Krinkleberry, but that won't be.  Still a nice finish to my moving yardage around in 2025 =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, December 21, 2025

Finished Part 4 of Lupine & Laughter.  I still need to sew Part 3; it should go fast.  This is a 2026 UFO for me.

Part 5 is cut.  24 2 1/2" sets of four purples and 24 2 1/2" neutrals.  Pictured are my purples.  I could, but won't start sewing this part until Part 3 is finished.  I just can't pull myself too far away from Winterberry.  There is only two Block 1s to finish.

As for stash I added one yard of mint fabrics for Winterberry.  I have only used the bottom fabric at this point.  I picked up the two on the top for a bit of security if the bottom fabric didn't work out.

So the stash changes this week to add 2.5 yards of pink for Lupine & Laughter and 1 yard of mint for Winterberry.  Nothing to count as used.  I should be getting another Home for the Holly Days shipment this week.  It's running late, but Fat Quarter Shop alerted me to a delay.
