Kranberries
84" x 97" |
I have my April 2014 UFO done! I really like the way Kranberries turned out. This project started out with a Red Strings/Nine-Patch Swap with several other quilting buddies. The Red Strings are used in each block in the corners. The Nine-Patch is the center of each block. Someone put a pink square in their Nine-Patch...I thought about changing it out, but decided instead to leave it. I think it adds interest; what do you think? This is a big quilt! The design is Bonnie Hunter's Talkin Turkey from her String Fling book. Thanks Mom and Kerry for helping out with some of your red stash. I don't think I purchased much more than a few fat quarters. I managed to assemble double the quantity of flying geese units and there has ended up being lots of string border sections leftover. I am sure I will find a use for these orphans some time in the future. Finally there is a change to my stash statistics!
Anxious to see what May's UFO will be. I will be finding out on Thursday.
More to see through the links at Patchwork Times. Enjoy your Sunday!

Love how it turned out. I think the pink square is just fine and it will be a conversation piece. That pattern is a great way to use up scraps....one color at a time.
Beautiful quilt! This one is on my bucket list. I'd have left the pink block too.
Ooooh, when it's my turn for the Scrap Squad 2013 block swap, this is what I will ask my friends to make. Love it!
Congrats on the finish - the top looks great and I love that little pop of pink!
Happy for you that you were able to finish your April UFO which looks FANTASTIC! I always enjoy seeing your quilts - thanks for sharing.
Love the colors in your quilt--good job!
that is such a lovely quilt. I love red. I'm making a black and white quilt with a touch of red in it ... well planning on making it. Collecting fabrics for it atm (which isn't doing my stash numbers much good)I haven't seen that pattern before... really lovely
Good Job, and it is a beautiful quilt. Somehow red was never your color, glad that you made one in the red family.
Another lovely quilt, I didn't even notice the pink square so I wouldn't change it.
