It has been a big vacation week for me. I've been at my parents home in Maryland celebrating both of their birthdays and their anniversary. This is my annual visit and a good time of year to visit Maryland. Dad spent a week before my visit collecting blue crabs for my yearly feasting. We had around two dozen from off their pier when the cooking time came along.
Here we are picking the meat away from the shells after a steam bath for the larger males. Those hands in the top right belong to my Dad and the chair pulled away from the table was my seat for the long arduous task of picking. We ended up with about 18 scrumptious crab cakes. Most of these made it to the freezer where they will be shared with my sister and future suppers. Indeed I got my share later that evening along with hush puppies! Mom opted for coconut shrimp as she's not too fond of crab...go figure.
Dad and I took in one night of dancing. I've been away from dancing too long, but Dad enjoys kicking up his feet sometimes twice a week. I'd certainly be going with him regularly if I were living in the area still. (It isn't like riding a bike where you pick it up after your first spin.) Dad has enough friends to keep him on the floor anytime he shows up. The theme for this night was 60's and 70's.
There is a giveaway that my friend Kerry is running on her blog Kerry's Quilting. The giveaway finishes on September 10th so make sure you put your entry into the contest. She gives all the details at the link HERE.
Nothing on my Design Wall to share this week. I am anxious to get to sewing when I get home!

Looks like you are making some wonderful memories, Sandi!
Looks like you're having a great trip, and those crabs look amazing!
Good blog, I was looking for a way to paste it to Facebook for all my friends to read, but had no luck. I see Tiffany cooked up one of her crabs, looks like she did a good job preparing it.
