Kamikaze continues to bogart my design wall.  Nothing has changed with it since I shared it last.  DH showed an interest in the colors of this beauty...wondered why it hadn't been worked on in a while.  Well, it sure isn't because I don't want to :(.  I've just had lots on my palate of late.  Fortunately that trend changes this week!  I need some sewing downtime for sure.

QOV Quilt 1
Koronado

QOV Quilt 2
Kidd
I learned what my UFO challenge will be for July.  #11 which is a Quilt of Valor design that is all kitted up from Country Threads.  Quilt 1 is to be made first with the leftover pieces making Quilt 2.  I'm looking forward to working with the red, white, and blue fabrics so appropriate for the month of July.

Kamikaze to finish first, then the two QOV quilts Koronado and Kidd.  You may be wondering about these QOV quilts names; both are currently in commission USS Navy ships with San Diego, CA being their home port.  Seemed appropriate in a few ways =^.^= although I did take some liberty with the USS Coronado.  I will also be sliding in another project, the San Diego Humane Society Fur Ball quilt donation.  This will be year 15 of helping out the animals at their annual black tie fundraising event.

Hope your week is all that you want it to be.  Happy stitching!

Krossways
36"x 48"
#10 June 2015 UFO
June UFO DONE!  Krossways is finished along with the back and prepping the binding and sleeve.  I had hoped to make it a bit larger, but the light purple ran out too soon.  It has turned out a good size nonetheless.  It is funny that I thought from the start it would need to be a smaller project.  It wasn't the light purple that I anticipated that would run out before the cream.

Today I plan to work a bit on assembling Kamikaze (#5 2015 UFO).  You can learn more about each of these two projects through the link to my 2015 UFOs.  I have a wedding to go to first!

Not long ago I showed my Clue Challenge project (2nd row, 1st project).  I thought you'd be interested in seeing all of them.  You certainly must use your imagination to figure out the Person, Place, and Weapon on some of these.
Krossways
June 2015 UFO
I was able to finish the first two blocks of my June UFO last night.  I'll make as many as the neutral holds out!  The block on the right is what caught my eye.  I like how the crosswise design looks like it is wavy.  The unit is a square (the blue or medium purple) sewn at the corner edge of the rectangle (light purple).  I hope to have a few more of these done later tonight.

Enjoy your day!

I have pieces cut for my June UFO.  Krossways will be the name for this quilt thanks to the clever thoughts of Janet O.  My project will be smaller than the pattern since I don't have enough of the light cream batik.  That's just fine with me!  Not only do I have only a few days to get the top together, I like the idea of a smaller project.

There are many more projects to see through the links at Patchwork Times.  I hope your week is all that you want it to be.  Happy Sewing!

Sunday Stash Report, June 21, 2015

I have been surprising two fellas in my family this past week.  First, my nephew is the Class of 2015 from South Lakes High School in Reston, Virginia.  Thursday was his Commencement held at George Mason University Patriot Center.  He looked so handsome in his blue cap and gown while a proud family sat in the audience.  He will attend community college in the fall and bunk at home for the first school year.  Time will tell where the future leads him.  I wish him all the luck in the world!  Second, my Dad was dumbfounded to see me in town!  Since Father's Day was so close to the graduation staying to celebrate with him was a must.  My Sister joined in on the weekend.  Four of us had a wonderful lunch at the Lighthouse Restaurant and Dock Bar in Solomons, Maryland.  Yes...I got my soft shell crab fix!

Needless to say not much in the way of using stash this past week.  So therefore no changes to mention.  I did get the binding on Krossings during my flight to Virginia.  Today I finished sewing down the sleeves on all three of these quilts.

I have cutting to do on my June 2015 UFO Krossways and assembly of a future 2015 UFO Kamikaze.  It is looking like a busy sewing week.  I hope your day was fabulous.  See more quilters using their stash in the best of ways through the links at Patchwork Times.

I have selected the fabrics I will use for my June UFO project.  My version will finish a bit smaller.  I want to use fabrics that I have on hand.  If I had more of that light purple...  Based on how far it gets me will be the size that it will finish.  Janet O has given me some great suggestions on a name for my Pinwheel Pizzazz by Lenna Spanner.  Hard choice now on Kitty-Korner, Kontinuity, Krosswise, or Krossways.  I am leaning towards Krossways.
In the meantime I am making progress on Kamikaze (another 2015 UFO on my list).  If you saw my post yesterday it doesn't look too different, but it is!  I have all 36 blocks sewn together now.  Next will be the sewing into rows.
I can share now my Sunshine Quilt Guild 2014 Clue Challenge project.  Can you figure out what three clues I had to work with?  A person...a room...a weapon.  Of course it was easy to name this quilt, Klue!

I hope your week is special.  See other awesome projects through the links at Patchwork Times.

Sunday Stash Report, June 14, 2015

My add for this week is from Beverly's.  It came home with me for Kamikaze that I have been working on lately.

I started assembling the blocks that were finished at the quilting retreat this past weekend and found lots of them, particularly the red blocks, were assembled wrong.  So guess what I'll be doing today?

I prepared the binding and sleeve for Krossings.  I plan to work on this during my flight to Virginia that takes place this week.  Austin, my nephew, graduates this week from high school.  I'm looking forward to my all too quick visit.
Today I will claim the quilt carry bag yardage for the black and white bag I gifted my friend Debra.  Kerry will get to claim the red and white bag since the fabrics came from her stash.

Lastly I have Kool Krystals and Krazy Kookoos done.  I am very pleased by how each one finished.

I learned earlier this week that #10 is the UFO to be worked this month.  There was a bit of a delay in the announcement AND it is a big project.  June is a busy month for me already.  With this one to finish in just 3 weeks and 3 days...we'll see what can be accomplished.

Pinwheel Pizzazz (yet to be named) is by Leanna Spanner.  The instructions came from the publication Quilter's World Winter 2013.  I love the cool affect created by the purple design as it weaves around the cobblestones.  The perfect name for this could have been Kobblestone, but alas I already have a project with that name that you can see HERE.  Too easy to attach a "2" or "Two" or "II" to it  =^.^=

Any other ideas come to mind?  I'd be most happy to hear what you think.

I have Kamikaze on my Design Wall.  This past weekend I finished assembling the next round of the block.  The two stacks of blocks above on the left.  Two of each, red 4-patches and orange 4-patches are the final step of the block assembly.  The pieces above to the right side are the border units.  You can see from the photo below how they come together.  I still need to find a fabric that reads gray for the inner border.
I finished Kerry's Quilt Carry Bag.  I used it for teaching the workshop at Paradise Quilting last Sunday.
Mom leaves soon and we've been busy doing things.  I hope your week is a good one!

Sunday Stash Report, June 7, 2015

No change to my stash numbers to record today.  I was at Beverly's, Rosie's, and Joann's this past week, but I didn't purchase anything.  Mom needed a few things for retreat projects and the must do yearly trip to Rosie's.  I found no time to calculate fabric used on the Quilt Carry Bag I made from my stash and that is still the case.  I will deduct it next Sunday along with Kamikaze that is so close to finishing...

Mom is here for just a few days more.  Sewing supplies to put away from the retreat and Sunshine Quilt Guild Tuesday.  I hope that your week is full of sewing or whatever pleases you.

Until I learn what project I'll be working on in June, Kamikaze is in work.  This will be my Quilting Retreat project this weekend.  Kamikaze is a Bonnie Hunter design called Midnight Flight.  I have all units pieced.  It is now just the process of putting the blocks together.  This is one of my UFOs for 2015 that has yet to be called to work on.  Perhaps it will for June.  There are still seven projects on the list.
Other projects can be seen today at Patchwork Times.  Look for the link on my right side bar.  Happy quilting!
