Here is my next project.  I need Caleb to come up with another great name for a pumpkin quilt!  I'd like to find four more white orange prints instead of using all white, but if not white on white it will be.  This is the right time to start a project with pumpkins, don't you agree?
The design is called Mini Pumpkins by Sew Kind of Wonderful.  It uses the QCR Mini Ruler.  The project will finish at 36" square.  The background is tucked all the way back in the photo.  It is a gray, but not what you'll expect.  The green fabric is left from Kreate.  If I'd have had enough it would have been Kreate's binding.  My project will be orange pumpkins where the pattern has white and white pumpkins where the pattern has orange.

I'll be traveling soon to my parents home as I do every year.  This one will be special since my brother and his wife will be there part of the time too.  I plan to take this project just in case there comes free time for machine sewing.  The luggage comes out of storage tomorrow!  Enjoy your week =^.^=

Kreate
Kilkenny Kat
This week Kreate and Kilkenny Kat arrived from Kerry.  After handing off the 2019-2020 Sunshine Quilt Guild's Opportunity to Kathy I did a little bit of shopping at Rosie's.

The red is already cut into Kilkenny Kat's Binding.  The top fabric is from Rosie's Sale Room.  There will be a gray quilt in my future and this will make the perfect back.

I did try to match something up to Kalypso's background, but it wasn't too be.  Decision made to move on, assemble the blocks and light blue binding will finish it off.  I will be working on final assembly today after binding and sleeve are sewn down on Kreate and Kilkenny KatKreate will travel with me on the plane for hand stitching and Kilkenny Kat will be in my luggage if time permits to hand stitch if time permits.

So this week there is an add of six yards.  I will claim yardage for Kalypso next week.

I've been working on this project since it arrived.  Today the binding was prepared.  The quilt on its way from Kerry...  This is the 2019-2020 Sunshine Quilt Guild's Opportunity Quilt.  Members of the Guild took part in the making.  I assembled it, Kerry sewed down the yo-yos around the border and quilted it, and I received it back for binding, sleeve, and label.  Later this week I will hand it off to Kathy.

Chances for this beauty will be available starting at the San Diego Quilt Show that begins Thursday.  We hope to help the Guild with lots of chance sold at the Show and throughout the year.  The winner will be selected at our June 2020 meeting.  If you have an interest in winning...let me know!

Sunday Stash Report, August 18, 2019

This does look like a Design Wall Monday post, but it isn't!  I finished the last block today with merely threads left of the background fabric.  No I didn't have to sort through the trash 😊😊😊

Believe it up until now when I am about to figure out the borders Kalypso has been made from my stash.  I have plenty of the light blue used as my "spark"  I actually put more in it than planned.  Looks like I may need to move one of them to the bottom row so that they are scattered around a bit more.

The Bloc Loc rulers are put away for now unless I can find a suitable neutral that will play nice with background.  This is going to be tough.  A visit to Rosie's is in my future.

I may just finish off Kalypso with a light blue binding.  What do you think about this idea?  I sure would like to give the circle pattern a finishing touch on the outside edge.  Tomorrow I will be sewing the blocks together and next Stash Report I will claim Kalypso as a finish.

For now no change to my numbers.  I hope you are using your stash!

Well what do you think about Kalypso so far?
Here is a close up of the Polaris Block.  I'll be using a lot of variety, but the corners of this block make a secondary design that creates a circle around the Mariner's Compass Block.  Can you see it?
Here is a close up of the Mariner's Compass Block.

The design called Magic Mariner's Compass by Janna Thomas comes in two block sizes; 9" and 12".  It takes the KISS and TIS rulers of Bloc Loc.  The 9" quilt finishes at 59.5 square and the 12" quilt finishes at 74.5".  I am making the 9" blocks.  If you wish to pick up the pattern go to Janna at www.blocloc.com where she will be happy to get you the pattern (#2417) and rulers for the size appropriate for the block size you want to make.

It was great to see Kerry on Sunday.  I brought to her my purple stash to select for a project she plans to work on soon.  I thought I had more carmel stash but turns out not.  She was able to use several pieces.  I certainly will miss robbing each others stash...  Kerry has for quilting two of my recent projects Kreate and Kardinal.  I will look forward to quilts coming in the mail =^.^=

Have a wonderful week!

Sunday Stash Report, August 11, 2019

The fabrics of Kalypso.  This all comes from my stash that is being used up to the tiniest unit!  The inspiration of the fabrics comes from that arigle print in the middle of the stack.  The background is the first up after the light blue.
This one is a Bloc Loc project which makes me happy.  It uses a bunch of rulers as you can see.
These are the units left for me to work with currently.  I have nine more blocks and an outside border to add.  There are many more hours of cutting and sewing ahead.

I may have to add in this goldish fabric because my variety is starting to wane.  Going to dig around my stash a bit more for possible dark blues...

For this week nothing changes.  I'm off now to visit with Kerry who is in town for a couple of days before she heads back to Arizona.  Gosh I miss my buddy being close.

Do you remember these?  These were the results of a class with Janna Thomas called Magic Mariner's Compass.  Janna is Ms. BlocLoc!
Kerry and I love taking using these rulers and taking her classes.  We took Janna's class two years ago a Road to California.  I'm just now getting them out of "storage".  My version will be quite scrappy.  I have loads of the light and dark blues and the background.
I'm having to dig deep in my stash for more fabrics that play along.  I have found some as you might be able to see from the last photo.  They are peeking out from the yardage at the top left.  There is more too that I'll share later this week as I move through the making of the project.  The two block patterns are Magic Mariners Compass 9" block and Polaris 9" block.  Both blocks use the TIS (Triangle in a Square) and KIS (Kite in a Square) rulers.  The KIS ruler was brand new at the time we took the class.

Stay with me and watch the progress unfold with Kalypso.

Sunday Stash Report, August 4, 2019

Final decision made to use the red string border.  I agree that it does move the eyes to the blocks.  The Sawtooth Flutter block is really busy which needed to be kept in mind.  Bonnie Hunter might come up with something else when she gets her layout designed.
I used all the neutral sting sashing that remained from a 9" Neutral String Block swap from 2012.  The swap units have seen me through two projects and very well could get me through another.  I have this left.
From another swap that was designed to make Talking Turkey I used what reds were available to me.  I've got lots left to do something else.  I already have made Talking Turkey that I called Kranberries.

So now comes the difficult calculating part of how much my Sawtooth Flutter project took.  All from stash :).  I am still pondering a name for this project...
