I finished this block from the Kittens cross stitch pattern.  This is the third one to finish.

I started right in on the next block.  DH and I listen to a book for about an hour before sleeptime each night.  I'm either binding or in this case cross stitching while listening.  Right now we are listening to a book by Freida McFadden called Brain Damage.  We are about a third into the book.  As always her books are worth every minute.

I am not sure how I came by this orphan block.  I matched the floss and decided it needed to be finished.

It has either come to me by way of my grandmother or mother or possibly my friend, Marla's sister.  There is only one so I think it will be usee in one of the red/white/blue charity quilts I plan to make.  (Yes it will be ironed first!)

Next up for a quick sew is a 2025 UFO.  This project has been coined Kwartz Kat.  All fabrics are leftover from previous projects.  I think this one has fabrics from at least two Spooky Boxes and the backbround came to me free from a friend.  I plan to use my Featherweight on this project so it will come with me on a Rosie's day if not finished at home first.

This project from the 2025 Jolly Box is also a UFO on my 2026 UFO list.  It has already been cut and waiting for a turn under the needle.  This will probably be a Rosie's day project.

The three remaining borders are done on Kultivation from the 2025 UFO list.  I will have this one done in the next few days.  Hope your Wednesday is perfect...stay warm and safe from snow and ice!  Think of me in San Diego soaking up high 70s temperature.  Oh, I can see the blimp flying over the golf tournament at Torrey Pines, La Jolla.  PGAs Farmers Insurance Open takes place this weekend.

I am working on attaching more blocks to the center.  I have the two sides on in this photo.

The bottom row is sewn together and I am stitching its top.  Once I get the top and the bottom onto the center there is an outer pieced border (an easy one) to be added.  I have decided upon a name for this project, "Kultivation".  Cultivation goes along with the Garden part of the pattern's name.  I couldn't come up with something that sounded good for the Scattered part.

Lupine & Laughter next up for the Design Wall.  Happy Monday everyone =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, January 25, 2026

I am all ready for RD2CA 2027!  We had a great time with the two workshops and the rest of the show.  We were a bit disappointed not to have a "30 year" pin, not sure why it wasn't offered.

Rosy Posy really turned my head.  I like the vine around the border and the fabric colors of the kit.  A future project until I get some already in my queue to stitch.  The UFOs speak loudly to finish.

This is the second kit of table runners purchased from Block Party.  The first kit, already made, is Elf Feet.  Soon I will have Witches Feet for Halloween (like I need more for Halloween!).

I purchased these two FQs for the two workshops.  The batik worked for Tiny Piecing, but the gold was to bright for Konfetti.  I picked up some information for two other projects, we'll see if they have something that will be ordered.

So for today I added to stash!  Nothing on the used but Scattered Garden is getting real close.

Today was the Tiny Piecing workshop at RD2CA.  I brought the wrong fabrics, but Kerry had enough scraps to share from the When Perfect Isn't the Point workshop on Tuesday.  I did however have a background that I liked so I went as far as I could on the second block during the workshop.  The fabrics include the rest of the background to finish what I started.  This was indeed tiny sewing.  The first block was 1/4" finished pieces.  That center is 1/4" square OMG.  Takes time and planning to select the fabrics and stitch.  I will be doing more of these.  Loved the workshop.  Giuseppe Ribaudo was fun and had some great suggestions making these very tiny blocks.  I purchased two of his patterns.  That Diamond Sidestep looks wild!

Tuesday's workshop with Jemima Flendt was night and day easier to work.  The goal was to stitch two rows so students could get the pattern down.  It would be quite easy to orientate the blocks the wrong way.  I needed more golds and blacks before moving to further rows so I stopped.  I had hoped to pick up a couple with the vendors, but not one had Kim Diehl or the feel of Kim except one gold.  I've already cut it and more background to finish this project.

The quilts at the show were magnificant as expected.  There were lots more exhibits than I remember from past years.  The vendors were great as ever; although we did miss a few that had been in previous years.  I didn't go crazy, but did purchase a few goodies.

It is that time of year!  A happy time at Road to California for a few days.  My badge complete with year pins is ready to go...well almost.  I have to put the two on the right together and attach to the mother =^.^=   I think it will go on the blue flap; well that is where I will try to put it.

I am continuing to work on Scatter Garden.  The last two blocks are in "applique" mode.  Once they are finished I will put the top thus far together.  Only thing left after are three skinny borders that require close to no stitching.  I am more than anxious to have this one finish.

In the meantime, I am headed up to Ontario International Airport to pick up Kerry.  The fun begins today.  When Perfect Isn't the Point workshop on Tuesday morning at 8:30am sharp.  More to come on this project =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, January 18, 2026

I can claim halfway on the corner blocks of Scatter Garden.  Pieces are prepared for applique on the second block of Installment 5.  Installment 5 also has one putting the middle together completely.

Besides getting ready for the two workshops I will be attending at RD2CA that is all I have been doing.  I will be missing my Book Club friends on Tuesday.  They will be talking about the book Happy Land.  It was a great read if you are looking for something.  Speaking of books I am reading two right now.  One is part of a series of books by Miranda James that involves a cat called Diesel.  The second book is soon to be at the theaters called Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir.  It was a suggestion from one of my Book Club friends that both DH and I would enjoy.  She was right!  It is a bit math overwhelming, but it is relevant to the story.  Anxious to see how the movie plays out.

During the week the one yard of binding for Krinkleberry arrived.  The quilt has yet to leave my home, but it most likely will head to Kerry's Quilting this coming week.  I also brought home one yard of four different fabrics for the RD2CA workshop, Konfetti, that I will be taking this week.  Changes to stash are shown now into the third Stash Report of the year.

Wednesday Workings, January 14, 2026

I've put all the Block 1s together on Lupine & Laughter.  They are so pretty.  I don't think I've ever sewn these three colors together in one quilt.

The Block 2s are yet to stitch.  Here is the first of them ready to go.  Just need to drag myself away from Scatter Garden.

These units are already done in previous parts.  The fun comes with figuring out which units go best with connecting units.  It really is so scrappy that in the end it won't matter on bit.

Scatter Garden is in the applique portion of the last four blocks before borders.  I am doing the applique on all four at the same time.  Progress to share with you will be slow, but then BAM, you will see them all at the same time.  I'm hoping for a reveal on Sunday.

I've also been cutting more for the workshop "Perfect Isn't the Point" that is next Tuesday.  I have enough cut that should get me through the time I will have to spend during the class.  I'm anxious to use the leftovers from Scatter Garden for the remaining pieces.

Hope all is right in your sewing room =^.^=

Design Wall Monday, January 12, 2026

Scatter Garden covers my design wall today.  I am working on the last four blocks that have some applique in them.  There was an alternate star instead of one with the applique, but the applique block was call out to be done.  I will have progress to share on my Working Wednesday post.

This was the last part released and the reveal.  Oh my this quilt is lovely.  These pieces make the block you see above.  Putting this one together shouldn't take too long.  I need to decide if one of the four ice blue fabrics will work for the inner border or if I should look for something else on Friday when it's a Rosie's day.

Sunday Stash Report, January 11, 2026

Let's us start out with the second finish of the year.  Home for the Holly Days a 2026 UFO is ready for quilting.  I like how this medallion quilt looks.  I did work it all the way through with scraps from previous month's deliveries.  The only one I will need is the last one that contains the binding fabric.  Of course I need to come up with a "K" name.  Working on this =^.^=

There was so much fabric left from the Home for the Holly Days project and Katniss (Garnets & Lillies) that I decided to use all up for the When Perfect Isn't the Point workshop.  The Confetti pattern takes 288 3.5" by 6.6" prints and background; should be easy to get that from what's left.  The workshop is next week so I'm getting ready.

Scatter Garden and Lupine & Laughter are under the needle and on the design wall.  I'm most anxious to get Scatter Garden in the "prep" phase on the last four blocks that all have applique units.  These two are on the UFO list along with Confetti.  Drop back in tomorrow to see progress on my projects.

Another finish to account for this week in Home for the Holly Days!

Wednesday Workings, January 7, 2026

Home for the Holly Days is on the Design Wall.  I have yet to sew the blocks together surrounding the middle, but it isn't far from being under the needle.

The snowballs that make the outside border are all finished and ready for their turn.  The inner border, same as the background fabric, is cut and ready to be measured out.  This project just might be done to a top before the week is out.  I have the back ready too.  Now I just need a clever name.

Installment 4 is done for Scatter Garden.  The instructions call for the top piece of each block to wait before sewing.  I spent the day taking apart and resewing the block on the upper left.  Silly me had the star units that make up the flower stitched the wrong way.  So happy to have caught the mistake now.

My sewing is making me happy =^.^=

Lupine & Laughter Part 7 sewing is finished.  Just need a quick press for these "kitty ears".

I have Month 7 sewn for Home for the Holly Days.  This month needs the corners trimmed and of course the press.  The next month puts the borders together...getting very close to a finish!

Scatter Garden is coming along too.  I have been stitching the "flowers" of Installment 4.  These are a bit involved; more so than the first two projects I shared.  Turns out I missed cutting out a 2" x 3" neutral that is needed for the eight "flowers".  I should have blocks to share on my Wednesday Workings post.

I have shared my 2026 UFO List.  You can find it on my home page in the tabs at the top.  I still need to figure out the last two spots of projects to finish during the year.  Do you have a list?

Enjoy this first full week of January.

Lupine & Laughter

Part 7 is ready to be sewn...after I draw the diagonal line through those blue squares that is.

Scatter Garden

Installment 4 is ready to be sewn...I still have the lines to draw on the pieces that will need it.  Looks like I'll be working with the neutrals.

Home for he Holly Days

This is Month 7 of Home for the Holly Days.  It is ready for some snowball sewing.  I have drawn the line on all 176 of the neutral squares.

When Perfect Isn't the Point Sample

Tiny Piecing Sample

I need to start considering what needs to be gathered for the two RD2CA workshops.  When Perfect Isn't the Point and Tiny Piecing.  RD2CA is in a few weeks in Ontario, CA about two hours away.  I'll be meeting Kerry at the airport when the fun begins!  These might just be my last projects to add to my 2026 UFO List.

As we start the 2026 Stash Report accounting I have a used already with Krinkleberry.

2025 Year At A Glance, January 3, 2025

Projects in 2025 were 38 with none in the quilting queue.  I am of course working on several projects that are close to finishes.  I have Krinkleberry finished; it only needs to be ironed and packaged up to mail.  This makes the first 2026 UFO completion =^.^=

Krinkleberry

Home for the Holly Days is sewn up to Month 6 with only two months to go.  Seems Fat Quarter Shop is dealing with some issue in the monthly deliveries.  They are generous with fabric so I have been able to continue sewing into Month 6 and likely the remaining months.  I'll be stitching as long as there is fabric to do so.

Home for the Holly Days, Month 6

Scatter Garden is sewn up to Installment 4 with only two to go.  The next installment is cut and ready to stitch.

Scatter Garden, Installment 3

Also in work is Bonnie Hunter's Winter Mystery, Lupine & Laughter.  I'm done up to Part 7 that was released yesterday; blue 2 1/2" squares cut and started on the cutting of neutral 2 1/2" by 6 1/2" rectangles.  I wondered when we'd be stitching more blue.

Lupine & Laughter, Part 6

I also have Fancy Feathers Bird Topper and Kottages in work.  I am trying to figure out how to make Fancy Feathers wider.  There is some embroidery yet to do on the birds feathers.

Fancy Feathers Bird Topper

I am also a bit nervous about creating the fence around the 100 houses of Kottages.  It is a new to me technique.  The 100 2 1/2" houses need to be sewn together then a picket fence is added as a border.

Kottages, 100 houses

Also in work is a cross stitch project, Kittens.  I have finished two of the 12 blocks.  This project gives me hand stitching in the evenings.  I am always one to keep my hands busy.

Kittens

As you can see I have lots going on; more than my usual one or two projects in work.  These projects are all to be finished before I take on yet another.  Oops...nearly forgot that I'll be going to Road to California this year with not one but two workshops Tiny Piecing and When Perfect Isn't the Point.  Looks like I better get busy =^.^=

Counting my stash continues again this year which captures usage and purchases.  In 2025 276 yards of material found it's way under my needle.  I did need to purchase 150, but sometimes you must purchase to complete!  Net fabric used this year was 125 yards.  Close to what happened with yardage the previous year.

I am catching up on UFOs both from earlier lists or the 2025 list.  A finish is a finish and I am proud of each one.  I don't think it possible not to have a UFO.  My 2026 UFO List still needs two more projects to be added.  You will see it soon.

I continue this year in the Secretary role with Sunshine Quilters.  I meet up with quilters just about every two weeks to sew.  I volunteered with Kennel Comforters to make pet beds which takes place once a month.  I do keep busy with my passion of sewing.

My list of finishes in 2025 follows.  You can see photos of each one if you go to my website and look in the page "2025".
