I've finished stitching down all the birds, back has been found in my stash, batting is next to cut.  I'm ready with Krazy Koons for Kerry's Quilting!
When Krazy Koons was finished I turned my attention to Koliding Krosses.  The binding and sleeve are stitched down, label is next!
Finally my Sunday closes on the Midnight Flight swap blocks.  I had the first half done on all of the units when I started.  Now I have the remaining half done on half of these.  I will be running another seam to give me that extra bonus triangle.  Many in the swap have taken advantage of this.  Not only will I be putting together a Midnight Fight design, but have plenty of blue/neutral and purple/neutral HSTs for another project.
Koncentric Konnection awaits me...  Pfaff is back and purring...

Announcements have been delivered to me for my entries submitted to Road to California for the 2015 Quilt Show in Ontario, California.  I was lucky this year with Kookaburra to be accepted.  I'll be having it appraised by Julia Zgliniec today before I send it to off to the show organizers.  It needs to be in their hands during the first weeks of December.

Sunday Stash Report, November 23, 2014

I did a little bit of stash enhancement this week.  The top fabric was an end of bolt deal at 30% off uncovered at Paradise Sewing in Poway.  I have one more UFO to accomplish this year that I've not set aside any fabrics for so this will be the back!  Nothing like working from the back first...  In case you wondered my UFOs are patterns I've collected that need making.  Nearly all of them this year have been from start to finish.  That shows in the fabric in and out this year.  I have been using my stash, but still end up needing fabrics!
Kadabra Fabrics
These two greens will be used for Bonnie Hunter's Grand Illusion Mystery that is about to start.  I have yet to look through my pinks.  I do believe I'm set there, but more enhancement might be necessary.  These fabrics area also from Paradise Sewing in Poway.

Krazy Koons
I do have a completion to count this report.  My Krazy Koons is complete.  I've been hand sewing down the birds, but it's now ready for Kerry to do her magic.  Here are my numbers for this week.
Koncentric Konnection
I'm so happy to have my Pfaff back!  Repairing and servicing are a necessity, but what an inconvenience when your "buddy" is away...  Now back to my November UFO, Koncentric Konnection!

I came home last night to find Betty's Midnight Flight swap blocks had arrived from Maryland.  Nice job Mom!  There are still a few more to arrive before November 30th (including mine...).

I had fun with ten others after work last night at Buggy Barn Club.  This group gets together the third Thursday of each month at Paradise Sewing in Poway.  This is the first time I've been able to attend and I certainly will go again.  I had all my blocks sewn together for Krazy Koons but needed design wall space to lay it out.  I had a little trouble with which blocks looked best besides each other.  Fortunately I was in the right place to get all kinds of opinions and one that you see everyone agreed with.  I'm putting it together today!

Paradise Sewing just called and said my Pfaff was ready to be picked up...guess where I'm off to now?  Enjoy your Friday.

Saturday I got two quilts back from Kerry.  What a lovely job she does.  The first one Koliding Krosses (another one named by my Sister) is made from the Earth and Sea design by Cheryl Malkowski at www.cherylmalkowski.com.  I've had this pattern since Timeless Treasures featured it for their Tonga Batiks in 2010.  It was my #9 UFO this year.  I have the darkest of the blues for a scrappy binding.
Koliding Krosses
Next up is Konstituent my #4 UFO this year.  It is from the first of 12 Month Pattern Series called Building Blocks that Cozy Quilt Designs released.  Sharyn Craig was the Designer and Wendy Mathson the Pattern Architect.  While I was working on this project I thought so much of taxi cabs...wonder why?  I think this series continues today, perhaps this year on the third series.  Cozy Quilts would have them if you are interested.  I have more of the black outer border to use for the binding.  Speaking of the border; this is a design from our very own Judy from her 60 Pieced Quilt Borders book.  If you don't have Judy's awesome book put it on your Christmas or Birthday wish list.  This one is a favorite of my DH.  Kerry thinks it would make a nice baby quilt.  Check out the alphabet quilting design.
Konstituent
My wall still has Koncentric Konnection on it.  I'm hopeful to get back my Pfaff mid week from being repaired and serviced.  I need to get cracking if this project is to complete this month per the #3 UFO schedule.
Koncentric Konnection
In the meantime my Janome has been set up in my sewing cabinet.  Busy working on Midnight Flight Swap Units and Krazy Koons.  All the dogs are done; flowers are in progress.  Happy to have these bonus triangles for a future project.  There will be just as many after the second half of these units are sewn in place.

My Design Wall is totally cluttered with projects.  I can't start another thing until something comes down.  My Pfaff is still being serviced, so Koncentric Kommotion has to stay.  The dogs aka Krazy Koons will probably be what comes down first.  I have the Midnight Flight swap units to concentrate on now.  They are due real soon.  Speaking of which...Kerry and Bonnie Sue turned in their swap units last night.  Wow the variety is astounding so far!  Thank you Bonnie Sue for the nice Thank You gift...
Until next time...

My Design Wall today.  I have the leftovers from Krazy Kookoos that will become a small wall hanging that my Mom wants.  Next the two dog blocks from my workshop this past Saturday that will become Krazy Koons. Finally, my November UFO Koncentric Konnection.  I've spent all Sunday working on the parts of the last nine dogs.  I'll be putting the four sections together tonight while watching Dancing With The Stars.

These are my parts for the Midnight Swap project.  I have one side done now.  I plan to sew the extra stitching line so that I can end up with bonus triangles.  The due date is quickly approaching for these to be done.  This will probably be next to work on after the dogs.

I have to put Koncentric Konnection on hold until my Pfaff comes back from being repaired.  I sure hope Eddie can get to my machine quickly as the days of November won't wait for me.  Linking up today with Patchwork Times.  Enjoy your week!

Sunday Stash Report, November 9, 2014

I purchased, but I had purpose with each one...promise.  Above FQs are from Fat Quarters Quilt Shop in Vista, CA.  No it isn't affiliated with the Fat Quarters Shop that is online in case you wondered.  The black and white on the left will be for Bonnie Hunter's 2014 Mystery.  The black print has already been used in the BOM for Sunshine Quilt Guild that is this Tuesday.  Here is my start, purple and brown come from my stash and the neutral came in the kit.

Here is the finish.  A very cute block indeed.  Wonder who the lucky winner will be...

Next from Paradise Sewing in Poway.  I ended up needing one more dark fabric for my Krazy Koons project so the fabric at the top was purchased.  While I was at the cutting table another quilter was purchasing that great red.  Well my stash can always use a red and then there in the basket was a remnant (the black), it was a Buggy Barn fabric that just jumped into my hands.  These both will work well in just about anything I sew up.  Now the two other fabrics are just because I like them...don't you?

Here are the two block I finished in the workshop yesterday.  As you can see the top dog used that fabric just purchased.
Krazy Koons
This is dog block three ready for sewing.  It is in the pizza box which stores the pieces quite well.  When I get down to the sewing the pins will come out making it very convenient to keep track of all the pieces.  I've got some great dogs prepared.  This project should go together quickly.  On the right of the photo above is Koncentric Konnection on hold till I can get my Phaff back.  My portable Janome just can't handle the sewing on this project.  Sure hope the Phaff is ready soon this project is my November UFO...eek...

Now to lessen the sting of the purchases...I have a finish!  Krazy Kookoos is ready for Kerry.  I have three leftover blocks that will become Krazy Kookoos 2!

Last but not least, Debra turned over her Midnight Swap blocks to me.  Debra takes third spot to turn in her blocks.

My numbers are looking good.  My have I really sewn 211 yards of fabric this year?  See more projects going on and quilters using fabric today through the links at Patchwork Times!

Koncentric Konnection
Here's where I've paused for a bit.  I have all the designs made now.  Only one I'm not too crazy about is the small orange block on the far right; may have to replace it.  In the meantime though I'm putting the rings together I have about a third of them done.

Today is Buggy Barn day, YIPPEE!!!  These are the fabrics that will go into my PIZZA BOX!!!  I'll be making Crazy As A Bird Dog.  I'm going to thoroughly miss the designs the two sisters of Buggy Barn won't be creating in the future.  I'll show photos tomorrow on what I was able to create after my five hour workshop today.  (I only had to purchase the two of the blue felted wools...excited about this.)

Design Wall Monday, November 3, 2014

Koncentric Konnection has lots of progress.  I'm pretty certain I'll be making three more to complete the center block.  Take a good look and let me know if you think a different block design should go there instead.  I have two small blocks to make yet.  One of them will be the #3 design.  I want to get more of the checkerboard design in the project.  Not sure if the final small block will be #1 or #5.  I will be sharing my decision soon with pictures.  I had this project selected as my October UFO, but couldn't get it done so it was switched with #3.  Then #3 was called for November.  So once again I'm pushing to have this done...no more switching!!  The pattern is called Beauty 'n Check by Janice Ellertson and Jodel Yover.
These fabrics are the start of what I'll need for the two Buggy Barn designs that I will use in a workshop on Saturday at Paradise Sewing in Poway.  I have more fabrics to dig out of my stash yet.  Both of the designs Knick Knack Paddy Wack and Crazy As A Bird Dog are in this book,  Fortunately I have two pizza boxes!  More on these two projects next Monday.  Oh, I have some great names thanks to my sister.  Knick Knack Paddy Wack was just named today Kanine Karnivores  and Crazy As A Bird Dog will be Krazy Koons.

Have fun sewing!

Sunday Stash Report, November 2, 2014

I'm busy working on Koncentric Konnection...still...  I have more progress done since this photo was taken.  It is a doosie and a half for sure!  All said and done it will use up quite a bit of fabric; right at 13.75 yards.  But, I'm getting ahead of myself...  Must get it done first =^.^=

Today I'll be pulling fabrics for two Buggy Barn designs.  I will be in a workshop on Saturday to make Knick Knack Paddy Wack and Crazy As A Bird Dog.  If you know Buggy Barn designs, they can be a big fabric user.  I'm just hoping most of it will come from my stash.

Soon I'll be looking through my stash for suitable Grand Illusion fabrics.  This is the new Bonnie Hunter mystery.  Fabric requirements are already posted on www.quiltville.com.  First clue goes live the week of Thanksgiving.  I will not miss that start!  I purchased the FQ of the teal just recently with a nice discount coupon.  Teal is something I'm always running out of because it's at the top of my favorite color list.

This week I'll be putting together my Krazy Kookoos project.  I'm anxious to claim the yardage for this one...

Until next time.  Happy Quilting!

Design Wall Monday, April 28, 2014

I'd like to share with you the Whisper Challenge project that I am working on, but it is a secret.  Just know that I'm working on something pretty crazy...  It is what is on my design wall right now.

For those (including me until this challenge) who don't know what a Whisper Challenge is all about let me try to explain.  All the quilters who want to participate in the challenge are split into equal groups.  Next the quilters of each group are assigned a position.  The quilter in the first position in each group receives a photograph from the coordinator.  That quilter has to create a mini quilt that is an interpretation of the photograph.  That quilt along with the photograph goes back to the coordinator who removes the photograph and sends the completed mini quilt on to the second position quilter who will create a mini quilt that is an interpretation of the first quilters mini quilt.  And so it goes to the next quilter.  The whole idea is like the "telephone game" we used to play as kids growing up where the story changes as its told each time.  At the conclusion of the challenge the photograph and every mini quilt will be shared.  I'm sure there are lots of surprises ahead.  Oh and each quilter gets to keep the mini create they created.  The quilts size can range from 12" to 16" on a side and can be irregular too.  I happen to be the last of four in my group so I wonder how far from the photograph mine will end up...

Kottontails
38" x 47"
I have Kottontails to share with you.  I just finished the binding, sleeve, and adding all the buttons to give them eyes as well as dress up their chests a bit.  This very cute bunny quilt will be gracing my home next Easter.  It is a Buggy Barn design called Bunny Trail from the Stir Crazy book.  I'm hopeful the next Buggy Barn design I will be working on is Crazy as a Bird Dog.  Wait till you hear the "K" name my Sister came up with for it.

Take time to visit Judy's Patchwork Times to see many other great projects from quilters from all everywhere.  Have a great last week of April and first week of May!

Sunday Stash Report, November 24, 2013

I'm still working on Kilowatts.  The pattern is High Voltage designed by Annie Unrein.  I have 26 of the 50 "A" blocks done.  Its moving along quite nicely.  There is so much variety in my fabrics its fun sewing each block together.  Charmagne who will be Kilowatts owner just loves finding the variety with each block she sees.  I will be at this project steadily until the first clue of Celtic Solstices is released on the 29th.

I did a little bit of fabric building for a project that I will be making next year.  It is another fun Buggy Barn design called Crazy as a Bird Dog.  My sister named this quilt project a couple of years back...ready for it's name?  Krazy Koons as in coon dogs.  My project will be done with masculine looking colors in greens, browns, and blues.  I'll be having a very bright blue for the bird that sits on each dog's tail.  (That black print is a just because fabric =^.^=)  7 yards from Fat Quarters Shop in Manchaca, TX came to my door on Thursday.  They have some great sales that I find a bit difficult to resist.

So for this week here are my stats:

Used this week:   0 yards
Used YTD:  330.75 yards
Purchased this week:  7 yards
Purchased YTD:  116.5 yards
Net Fabric Used in 2013:  214.25 yards

There are more quilters using their stash.  Check them out at Patchwork Times.

Sunday Stash Report, September 1, 2013

This comic seemed appropriate for today!

I picked this fabric up at Rosie's this week.  It will be used for the binding on Kartwheels.  I really like the design.  Kartwheels has a very busy border and along with the quilting pattern and thread I felt it needed to be a one fabric binding.  I had enough of all the fabrics to do something pieced...a little too much...although I sure was tempted.

This next fabric was also gathered from Rosie's.  Rosie sure knows how to stock the solids.  I started thinking of a purple; then changed my mind to a light gray.  I was carting both bolts around trying to decide; was sure I would go with the purple again...went to put the light gray back and started looking at a darker gray.  Well you see what I came home with!  This fabric is one of many for Konqueror that I'll be doing in a class at the San Diego Quilt Show next Thursday with Joyce Weeks called Survivor.  The project is a scrappy one, but this fabric is predominate.  The scrappy fabrics will be reproduction Morning Grays that I shared with you last week from Fat Quarters Shop.

And the purchases keep adding up with fabrics for If the Hat Fits a Buggy Barn Design for a class next Saturday.  Bits and Pieces in Poway had a nice sale this weekend; purchase two and get one free.  This was for yardage or notions.  I did a bit of both with three pieces of yardage and three FQs.  The green gray stars and the black will go for If the Hat Fits and the others, well just to my stash.

Three more purchases this week!  Whew STOP already!  A second trip to Rosie's brought me some fabrics that will be used for If the Hat Fits and Konqueror.  I also picked up a couple of small scale blacks a stash enhancement.

Country Loft was next on my Friday after Rosie's.  I will be making another Buggy Barn Design in the near future Crazy as a Bird Dog so I'm building up with more small scale prints.  I'm thinking the project will be in browns and greens.

Finally my order from Fat Quarters Shop arrived.  These fabrics are for a the Buggy Barn design Today is Your Birthday!  I'll share more about this project another time, but it will be moved through my sewing room like lightening.  It needs to get to Kerry's Quilting quick so that I can have it back by the first week of October.

For now my stash stats for the first day of September 2013...

Used this week:  13 yards
Used YTD:  271.5 yards
Purchased this week:  23 yards
Purchased YTD:  83.25 yards
Net Fabric Used in 2013:  188.25
