Kaleidoscope Klippings
28" x 41"
7/22
Kaleidoscope Klippings is finished.  This project comes from the scraps of the original project Kaleidoscope.  Kaleidoscope was a project purchased from my long ago trip to Houston International Quilt Show.

Kaleidoscope
54" x 64"
4/08

There was quite a bit of fabric leftovers taking up space in my stash.  No longer!

With hints from Lisa Bongean of Primitive Gatherings on one of her recent YouTube videos; Clue 5 for her project O Say...Can You Sew! has commenced.  The formal release is tomorrow.  (Those of you who haven't pulled off Clue 4 get to it or pay for it after today.)  Clue 5 has us using foundation papers, 1" finished in blue and neutral fabrics.  I am using the same fabrics as previous clues and adding in when needed.  Looks like I will need to add in some blues.

Trying real hard to use up "scaps", but sometimes a bit of enhancement is necessary.  There was a 20% discount on Andover Fabrics recently with Fat Quarter Quilt Shop.  I took advantage of two white with blue low volume prints.  These can be used for O Say...Can You Sew! and another soon to start project called Kondensation (aka Winter Blues by Bonnie Hunter).

That is it for now.  Later today plans are in work to start getting the 2 1/2" strip stash drawer into manageable units for Wonky Wishes.

Little clues along the path of comleting O Say...Can You Sew!  This one however wasn't exactly a walk in the park.  It was easy putting together Clue 3, but lots of work made more by not having finished Clue 2 =^.^=

All 31 blocks are done now.  Clue 4 is finished.  I am completely ready for the next Clue that should be released in a couple of weeks.  Now on to something else.

Hope your week is full of happiness.

I have been working on Clue 3 of Oh Say...Can You Sew! project by Primitive Gatherings.  Clue 3 combined Clue 1 and Clue 2 added four 3 1/2" neutrals to make the block.  The Clue calls for 31 blocks.  I had only stitched part of Clue 2 (the red star tips) so I needed to make more of these to finish Clue 3.  I am still working on Clue 3 today.

Really was simple just lots of star tips before I could move on.  Above are the units for Clue 2.

Then there was the trimming...these were made oversized to allow for the perfect 3 1/2" finish needed.  I am happy Lisa Bongean had us make them this way.  Yes it does take time to trim, but the results are worth the effort.  (The blue nine-patch units are from Clue 1.)

Putting Clue 3 together.

Clue 4 was another nine-patch, but this time in red.

Kerry sent back Kaleidoscope Klippings during the week.  I have trimmed it down and will be hunting for the best binding option from my stash.

Nothing to turn the numbers one way or another this week.  It was certainly nice for the past three Stash Reports using 17 yards each week.  I feel like a slacker this week!

The time has come to sew together Clue 3 and Clue 4.  I will be cutting fabrics this week to get this project up to the last clue before the next one comes out.  A project that who knows how many clues will come before we can see what this mystery unveils!

Enjoy your week =^.^=

The last of the Hopscotch Butterscotch quilts is finished.  This is the third one made for charity.  Jennifer got me going at her party and I just kept on making them.  Happy to reduce the 2" strips!

I picked this up for the back.  It was 40% off; not bad.

Saturday brought a box of fabrics from my Mom.  Her guild had a "yard sale".  Now I need to find a 2.5 inch scrappy quilt pattern that will use all the different strips in my stash. =^.^=
This piece from Mom has been in her stash for years.  Something made her purchase yardage of apple theme fabrics.  Hopscotch Butterscotch #2 will use most of this piece up.  I will still end up with more of this; will need to figure out what to do with it next.

This will be the last 17 yard used week!

I finished the Milk Cow quilt project.  I like the look of the binding which is the fabric of the cow in the bottom right.  The farmyard animal quilting design sets off the theme of the quilt perfectly.  The baby boy arrives later this year so I am well ahead of arrival.  It will be on its way to Maryland this week.

Not too much progress on Hopscotch Butterscotch #3 this week as my attention was focused on getting the Milk Cow quilt complete.  I left it on the Design Wall, but did manage to cut the pieces out for the sashing, corner stones, and inner border (not in the photo).  Now I will be back to the sewing room working on this finish.

Now that my 2" drawer of strips is manageable it will be time to hit the 1.5" and 2.5" strips.  (The baggies hold 2" squares in the different color groups.)

No matter how much you make from scraps there will always be more =^.^=.  Hope your week is as fabulous as you want it to be!  Happy Anniversary Kerry and Joe...

Moving right along with Hopscotch Butterscotch #2.  I finished this one and am on to #3.  I took #2 down off the Design Wall and put #3 up.  Truthfully, these are so scrappy that they don't really need to go up on the Design Wall.  It is nice to step back and see how far along you have stitched.

Here is #3.  I have this pattern down where I hardly look at the pattern.  I am so pleased to have my 2" strip drawer nearly emptied!

This is the fabric I pulled from my stash for the sashing (blue/white dots), corner stones (red), and inner border (white).  The units are all cut.  I will be working on the final touches this week.  It sure is nice to have 17 more yards into a quilt.  =^.^=

Happy 4th to everyone.  This is the last of the samller pieces 2" that will make up Hopscotch, Butterscotch #2 and #3 four patches.  I have also cut more 2" neutrals.

Part of the neturals come from Bonnie.  She gave me lots of scraps from a project she worked on several years back.  These are all batiks.  You do mix your cotton fabrics of all kinds into your scrap projects...don't you?  There are more to cut from Bonnie's scraps, but those scraps are a bit darker.  I am certainly not one to pass up a good scrap!

I took Tuesday through Thursday off this week to make it a nice break from work.  Monday a Holiday and Friday my off Friday.  All this comes down to lots of sewing!

DH and I worked together to add a third shelf for my Margaret Le Van Alley Cats collection.  I am already thinking there should be four shelves!

I hope you have a wonderful week=^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, July 3, 2022

The first of three stash busting charity quilts is done, Hopscotch, Butterscotch by Bonnie Hunter.  Most of the fabrics came from the Sew Party hosted by Jennifer.  I added most of the piano key border pieces, sashing,  burgundy conerstones, and the inner border.  All the blocks came from Jennifer's stash.  I really like the way its turned out.  I will look through my yardage for a back.  One piece is already in the plan, but I will need to add some extra to make it work.

Hopscotch, Butterscotch #2 is already to be moved to my Design Wall.  My Mom gave me the black w/white pin polka dot that will be used for the sashing, Karen gave me the bumble bee that will be used for the inner border.

Hopscotch, Butterscotch #3 is already in progress too..when Kosmo decides to move away from the sewing machine!

So there is a change to my stash count.  Hopscotch, Butterscotch #1 takes 17 yards!  This is not getting my UFOs done, but I am enjoying watching my 2" squares and strips being cleared out from the bin.
