Koncentric Konnection
2014 UFO
Today I have nothing to change my numbers, but I do have some completely finished projects to share.  I've been binding.  Yes my "push" finger is sore now; I have never been one to use a thimble.  I have tried, but nothing feels comfortable.  First finished was Koncentric Konnection.  This one is a total beauty.  All my quilts are quilted by Kerry's Quilting.  I wish I could share the detail of the stitching on Koncentric Konnection.

I have included a close up for you too.  My DH created this name that fits it very well.  If you want to see more up close check out my website.  My latest are at the bottom of this page.
Krosscheck
2016 UFO
Krosscheck is just in time to celebrate St. Patrick's Day alongside my leprechaun decoration.  Hard for me to think that this is the first quilt I have created for this holiday.  There ended up being lots of tiny nine patches left over, so use them I did on the sleeve.  I was one short!
Next up is Konstant Konnection.  Funny how frequently "konnection" comes into names of my quilts. =^.^=  Thanks to my sister for its name.  I think this one would make a great baby quilt for a little girl.  It also doubles as a Valentines project.

2016 UFO
Last completed is Kolada.  Thanks to Joy D for its name.  This one was never a UFO.  I took a workshop to learn the technique of using the new pineapple ruler from Bloc Loc on this project from Road to California Quilt Show this past January.  I made my project to fit a particular space in my home.

So my stats are as they were last week.  I am busy working to change them for next week.

Used this week:  0 yards
Used YTD: 37.75 yards
Purchased this week:  0 yards
Purchased YTD:  19.5 yards
Net used in 2017:  18.25 yards

Did you guess that all 16 would be sewn?  Next up is the sashing and border.

I am getting close to a finish with Kourtepointe =^.^=

Here is a peek at what I got back this weekend from Kerry's Quilting.

Do you remember Koncentric Konnection?  I have a narrow black binding planned for this masterpiece!

There are more surprises with quilters near and far through the links at Patchwork Times this fine day.  Happy Presidents Day.

Monday at lunchtime I started cutting the pieces of my December UFO.  Nothing like getting started on a new project mid-month of the designated month its due =^.^=  My goodness I'm not sure I've recovered from the tardiness of Koncentric Konnection.

#11 is the project for December.  For me it is a pattern by Linda Ballard called Around The Block.  It was the Lakeside Mystery for the first night at 2010 Road to California Quilter's Conference and Showcase.  Kerry and I took the second night's mystery and had an opportunity to purchase the first night's pattern...so we did!  Linda's patterns can be found HERE.  My project's using all stash.  Not sure I'll have enough to piece a back together, but we'll see.

Tuesday evening I found a little bit of time for some sewing.  I finished enough to have something for my lunchtime sewing on Wednesday.
Krossings
I am hoping this project goes together as easily as it appears that it will.  I've had some question about the cutting instructions, but they will more than likely be resolved with a little more reading of the instructions.  I've made a few of her designs and the patterns are usually very clear.

Hope that your HUMP Day is going the way you'd like it to.  The rest of the week is all down hill from here!

Yesterday I packed up everyones Midnight Flight Swap blocks.  I'll have them enroute to their owners early this week.  This swap was designed to give a head start on Bonnie Hunter's Midnight Flight design from her newest book More Adventures with Leaders and Enders.  My project (Kamikaze) will be started soon, but probably not until 2015.

Until I ran into a question for Janet the BOM coordinator I was working on this all too cute Santa block.  I did have one attempt from Janet to answer me, but she answered questions regarding the Candle block :(!  I am hopeful to hear back from Janet a second time.  Tonight will be the last opportunity or I'll just guess...  I do want to win these cute blocks.

The rest of Sunday I spent doing household chores that included putting up some holiday decorations and making a cranberry jello salad for a work party today.  I have a real good White Elephant gift for the exchange.

On Saturday I sent Kookaburra off to Road to California.  I'm very happy to have made it into the show and hopefully will be as lucky as I was last year (or luckier) with Kartwheels.

Tomorrow I will attend Judy Neimeyer's lecture and trunk show at Cozy Quilt Shop at their new location.  I'm so looking forward to meeting her.  She is one of my favorite designers.  After I make Briar Patch (Kurry) I hope to make Osprey's Nest (yet to be named).  I have three of her designs to share if there is the opportunity (KollaborationKartwheels, and Krossfire).
Kurry
Koncentric Konnection
I'm also taking with me two other quilts that are from Cozy Quilt Shop affiliated designers, Beauty 'n Check (Konentric Konnection) by Janice Ellertson and Jodel Yover and Building Blocks (Konstituent) by Sharyn Craig.  I sure hope Janice, Jodel, and Sharyn are there too.

All set for a busy sewing week with Bonnie Hunter's Clues 1 and 2.  I hope you have something fun planned this week too...  See more fun projects going on around the globe through the links at Judy's Patchwork Times.  =^.^=

I've started Clue 1 of Bonnie Hunter's 2014 Winter Mystery Grand Illusion.  I haven't gotten to far yet, but plan to make a lot of progress in the next two days.  Above are all my pieces laid out for sewing.  I didn't count my HSTs yet although I am pretty certain I have quite a few more to make.
Did you take the time to twist the centers?  Doing so sure helps reduce the bulk.  There will be lots more sewing now that Koncentric Konnection is complete!
Have fun in your sewing room!

Design Wall Monday, December 1, 2014

I completed the binding on Koliding Krosses.  This project was entirely from my stash.  I sure am happy when that can happen.  I'm half way around Konstituent and will share it when finished.

I didn't get to any part of the sewing on Bonnie Hunter's Grand Illusion Winter Mystery.  I've been focused on finishing Koncentric Konnection.  I have taken time to pull fabrics for my project, Kadabra.  I hope to be sewing the Clue 1 early this week.  I'll be aiming to hook up on Bonnie's blog before the cutoff on Thursday.  Friday and Clue 2 will come all too soon.

This week I plan to have Kookaburra in the mail.  I had it appraised with Julia Zgliniec late last week.  It is always a good thing to have your quilt appraised if it is being sent off to a show.  All participants need to have their entries into the committee's hands between December 1st and 15th.  I like to send early to avoid the Christmas mailings.

Lot's of sewing as is my usual is on tap for this week.  I hope that you are enjoying time in your sewing room.  Prayers are with Judy's Boots today.

Here's what I'm working on today...

Design Wall Monday, November 24, 2014

I've finished stitching down all the birds, back has been found in my stash, batting is next to cut.  I'm ready with Krazy Koons for Kerry's Quilting!
When Krazy Koons was finished I turned my attention to Koliding Krosses.  The binding and sleeve are stitched down, label is next!
Finally my Sunday closes on the Midnight Flight swap blocks.  I had the first half done on all of the units when I started.  Now I have the remaining half done on half of these.  I will be running another seam to give me that extra bonus triangle.  Many in the swap have taken advantage of this.  Not only will I be putting together a Midnight Fight design, but have plenty of blue/neutral and purple/neutral HSTs for another project.
Koncentric Konnection awaits me...  Pfaff is back and purring...

Announcements have been delivered to me for my entries submitted to Road to California for the 2015 Quilt Show in Ontario, California.  I was lucky this year with Kookaburra to be accepted.  I'll be having it appraised by Julia Zgliniec today before I send it to off to the show organizers.  It needs to be in their hands during the first weeks of December.

Sunday Stash Report, November 23, 2014

I did a little bit of stash enhancement this week.  The top fabric was an end of bolt deal at 30% off uncovered at Paradise Sewing in Poway.  I have one more UFO to accomplish this year that I've not set aside any fabrics for so this will be the back!  Nothing like working from the back first...  In case you wondered my UFOs are patterns I've collected that need making.  Nearly all of them this year have been from start to finish.  That shows in the fabric in and out this year.  I have been using my stash, but still end up needing fabrics!
Kadabra Fabrics
These two greens will be used for Bonnie Hunter's Grand Illusion Mystery that is about to start.  I have yet to look through my pinks.  I do believe I'm set there, but more enhancement might be necessary.  These fabrics area also from Paradise Sewing in Poway.

Krazy Koons
I do have a completion to count this report.  My Krazy Koons is complete.  I've been hand sewing down the birds, but it's now ready for Kerry to do her magic.  Here are my numbers for this week.
Koncentric Konnection
I'm so happy to have my Pfaff back!  Repairing and servicing are a necessity, but what an inconvenience when your "buddy" is away...  Now back to my November UFO, Koncentric Konnection!

Design Wall Monday, November 17, 2014

Saturday I got two quilts back from Kerry.  What a lovely job she does.  The first one Koliding Krosses (another one named by my Sister) is made from the Earth and Sea design by Cheryl Malkowski at www.cherylmalkowski.com.  I've had this pattern since Timeless Treasures featured it for their Tonga Batiks in 2010.  It was my #9 UFO this year.  I have the darkest of the blues for a scrappy binding.
Koliding Krosses
Next up is Konstituent my #4 UFO this year.  It is from the first of 12 Month Pattern Series called Building Blocks that Cozy Quilt Designs released.  Sharyn Craig was the Designer and Wendy Mathson the Pattern Architect.  While I was working on this project I thought so much of taxi cabs...wonder why?  I think this series continues today, perhaps this year on the third series.  Cozy Quilts would have them if you are interested.  I have more of the black outer border to use for the binding.  Speaking of the border; this is a design from our very own Judy from her 60 Pieced Quilt Borders book.  If you don't have Judy's awesome book put it on your Christmas or Birthday wish list.  This one is a favorite of my DH.  Kerry thinks it would make a nice baby quilt.  Check out the alphabet quilting design.
Konstituent
My wall still has Koncentric Konnection on it.  I'm hopeful to get back my Pfaff mid week from being repaired and serviced.  I need to get cracking if this project is to complete this month per the #3 UFO schedule.
Koncentric Konnection
In the meantime my Janome has been set up in my sewing cabinet.  Busy working on Midnight Flight Swap Units and Krazy Koons.  All the dogs are done; flowers are in progress.  Happy to have these bonus triangles for a future project.  There will be just as many after the second half of these units are sewn in place.

My Design Wall is totally cluttered with projects.  I can't start another thing until something comes down.  My Pfaff is still being serviced, so Koncentric Kommotion has to stay.  The dogs aka Krazy Koons will probably be what comes down first.  I have the Midnight Flight swap units to concentrate on now.  They are due real soon.  Speaking of which...Kerry and Bonnie Sue turned in their swap units last night.  Wow the variety is astounding so far!  Thank you Bonnie Sue for the nice Thank You gift...
Until next time...

Design Wall Monday, November 10, 2014

My Design Wall today.  I have the leftovers from Krazy Kookoos that will become a small wall hanging that my Mom wants.  Next the two dog blocks from my workshop this past Saturday that will become Krazy Koons. Finally, my November UFO Koncentric Konnection.  I've spent all Sunday working on the parts of the last nine dogs.  I'll be putting the four sections together tonight while watching Dancing With The Stars.

These are my parts for the Midnight Swap project.  I have one side done now.  I plan to sew the extra stitching line so that I can end up with bonus triangles.  The due date is quickly approaching for these to be done.  This will probably be next to work on after the dogs.

I have to put Koncentric Konnection on hold until my Pfaff comes back from being repaired.  I sure hope Eddie can get to my machine quickly as the days of November won't wait for me.  Linking up today with Patchwork Times.  Enjoy your week!

Sunday Stash Report, November 9, 2014

I purchased, but I had purpose with each one...promise.  Above FQs are from Fat Quarters Quilt Shop in Vista, CA.  No it isn't affiliated with the Fat Quarters Shop that is online in case you wondered.  The black and white on the left will be for Bonnie Hunter's 2014 Mystery.  The black print has already been used in the BOM for Sunshine Quilt Guild that is this Tuesday.  Here is my start, purple and brown come from my stash and the neutral came in the kit.

Here is the finish.  A very cute block indeed.  Wonder who the lucky winner will be...

Next from Paradise Sewing in Poway.  I ended up needing one more dark fabric for my Krazy Koons project so the fabric at the top was purchased.  While I was at the cutting table another quilter was purchasing that great red.  Well my stash can always use a red and then there in the basket was a remnant (the black), it was a Buggy Barn fabric that just jumped into my hands.  These both will work well in just about anything I sew up.  Now the two other fabrics are just because I like them...don't you?

Here are the two block I finished in the workshop yesterday.  As you can see the top dog used that fabric just purchased.
Krazy Koons
This is dog block three ready for sewing.  It is in the pizza box which stores the pieces quite well.  When I get down to the sewing the pins will come out making it very convenient to keep track of all the pieces.  I've got some great dogs prepared.  This project should go together quickly.  On the right of the photo above is Koncentric Konnection on hold till I can get my Phaff back.  My portable Janome just can't handle the sewing on this project.  Sure hope the Phaff is ready soon this project is my November UFO...eek...

Now to lessen the sting of the purchases...I have a finish!  Krazy Kookoos is ready for Kerry.  I have three leftover blocks that will become Krazy Kookoos 2!
Krazy Kookoos
Krazy Kookoos 2
Last but not least, Debra turned over her Midnight Swap blocks to me.  Debra takes third spot to turn in her blocks.

My numbers are looking good.  My have I really sewn 211 yards of fabric this year?  See more projects going on and quilters using fabric today through the links at Patchwork Times!

Used this week:  17.5 yards
Used YTD: 211 yards
