The third Crazy Christmas Tree project is well on its way.  There have been some unfortunate delays getting it to the finish as I had expected on Sunday.  This Krazy Kristmas Konifer will be done before the week is concludes.  Karen gets this one =^.^=

Hope your week ahead won't be as sore as mine will be in the next couple of days.

Sunday Stash Report, September 29, 2019

It is nice to show both starts and finishes...wouldn't you agree?  Let me start with a finish.  Knock Kneed (Florence Flamingo by Elizabeth Hartman) is done.  I really like it with the stripe binding.  I played around with the idea of a black flamingo after making all nine in pink.  There is such a thing, the last sighting of one was in the Akrotiri Environmental Centre on the southern coast of Cyprus April 8, 2015. This is thought to be a result of a genetic condition which causes it to generate more of the pigment melanin, turning it dark rather than the usual pink color.
When you have the blocks made you might as well use them.  This is the back where that ninth pink flamingo was fitted into the bottom left corner.

Now for the starts and finishes that I will be claiming this week =^.^=  These are gifts for Christmas that Karen and Mom will get the early part of December in time for displaying this holiday season.  I have already shared the red version that Rita will be gifted.  These were fun to make, nearly addictive.  The green version is my second with this pattern.

These fabrics are what I am sewing on today.  The third for the pattern is a mix of the green and red trees which is nearly done.  The fabric at the top is the back.  Since I spoke to Karen first she had first selection.  She'll be happiest with the mixed version.
Finally I will share a birthday gift for myself;  a Hot-fix Applicator Kit.  All this fits into the black bag.  Purchased through Amazon from Afantti.  I haven't used it yet, but the three Krazy Kristmas Konifers (Crazy Christmas Trees by Karla Alexander) will be bedazzled along with Kastaway.  Thanks Heather from Peachy Pages for helping me out with a cute name.

Come visit tomorrow to see the next project I'll be taking on.  The Cat's Meow by Country Appliques; another 2019 UFO.

Starting a new project from the 2019 UFO List!
The first step in making the trees crazy.
There are four to be made.  Each will be cut down to 9" x 14 1/2".
The sashing comes from the left over pieces of the first cut.  The red rectangle is one of four that make up the trunks.
So what do you think?  I have to sew the trunks on and the sashing yet, but this project is nearly complete.  The backing is at the top of the first photo.  Red from one of the fabrics used in the trees will be for the binding.  This project goes to Rita.

Hope you have a great start to Fall =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, September 22, 2019

Koach finished this week along with two other small projects.  None of these from the 2019 UFO List :(
This Spooky Ohio Star is Sunshine Quilt Guild's September BOM.  Participants were provided everything except the center block that had to be Halloween themed.
This Christmas Joy Mug Rug comes from a kit that I can't recall came from.  I practiced the blanket stitch on my Phaff; all but the smaller pieces.  I couldn't trust myself except for by hand the leaves, top of ornament and the three berries.  I will sandwich it between some batting and do an outline of "JOY" for the quilting.  The stripe will be the binding.
I will spend my Sunday hand stitching Knock Kneed.  There is lots of open background on this project and the stripe border will help finish it off correctly.

I have a new project starting.  Come join me tomorrow for a look at Krazy Khristmas Trees.  This one is a 2019 UFO.

Koach blocks are finished.  There were two changes to the pattern as distributed.  I swapped the coloring of the pumpkins from primarily white to orange.  The original design had only three orange pumpkins.  So now you might have figured out the second change to add in a fourth white pumpkin in the bottom right corner.  The space was to be a solid background fabric.  A change in some of the busy background fabric that is a dark gray by the way, will take place before it is sewn into rows.  The first change will be to rearrange the two nearly identical on the top row.
There were several units left that will be sewn up and made as part of the pieced back.  The pumpkin block finishes at 6" which will give me almost enough for a top to bottom section.  Since the back uses what is left of the background another 10" needs adding to be large enough for the project.  This one isn't too big finishing at 36" square.  Koach will finish during the week and be counted as USED fabric next Stash Report on Sunday.  Janet O came up with the great name Koach.  She was thinking about Cinderella's Pumpkin Coach...just too clever!

My next project needs to be a 2019 UFO or my goal for the year will certainly never come to pass.  Until next time =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, September 15, 2019

Kalypso finishes this week.  I would have liked to finish off the outside storm at sea pattern, but ran out of the background fabric.  A small effort to find something suitable took place with no avail.  Everything else tried competed with the design.  There is probably some other alternative that could have worked, but nothing I tried was making me happy =^.^=  It finishes just 3" all around smaller which is okay with me.  The light blue will be the binding once Kerry has it quilted.  Kalypso goes in the mail to Kerry's Quilting before the month is out.

Fit to Frame (YTBN) has two more finished blocks.  The 5+ hours to travel from the West Coast to the East Coast and back allowed for much of this to be stitched.  The two on the right were finished this trip
The binding and sleeve are in place now on Kreate.  It is a cute project that will find a place in my work space where I spend most of my time nine hours away from my sewing room.
Kilkenny Kat is now with binding and sleeve complete.  I shared it along with Kreate at my Mom's quilt guild meeting which I was fortunate to attend.  There was a special presentation from the Quilts of Valor representatives from the area.  They were very interested in the design along with Bonnie Hunter enthusiast.

I'll be heading to my quilt guild's first meeting of the 2019-2020 membership year on Tuesday.  It is an Ice Cream Social!  I'm going to resist the temptation =^.^=  Kreate and Kilkenny Kat are planned for Show and Tell.  The rest of the week I hope to finish up Kalypso and dig into Koach.

Enjoy your week ahead.

Sunday Stash Report, September 8, 2019

These were gifts from Mom.  She won her guild's challenge with her ugly fabric bowl.  Her winnings were the six woven plaids on the left.  Mom's not doing much sewing with this type of fabric..works for me :)!  The purple batik was on the free table at her guild; Mom thought of me, yeah.
I can always use neutrals and these FQs (three on the top of the stack) are a good addition.  The white-on-white that is difficult to make out are flamingos.  With the flamingo fetish in full swing...why not?  The dancers was in the sale room at Material Girls with a one yard minimum.  I purchased the minimum and shared half with Kerry.  It will make an interesting addition to a project in the future.
As you can see these four FQs are just what I was after for the last four white with orange fabrics for Koach.  One is from Material Girls and the other three from Michelle's Quilts.  My fabric needs have been met; this project will start in earnest shortly.

So this week there is an add of 2.25 yards.  I didn't finish Kalypso as thought last week.  Maybe this week =^.^=  Come back tomorrow to see my progress on the applique project (Fit to Frame, YTBN) that I work on during my flights across the great USA!
