Well I was certainly the Boss stitching along Emerald Chilhowie.  At the start of today I turned one corner of this huge project.  At this rate I suspect to be complete by Wednesday.  I will share a picture when it is all done.  Nothing for a Design Wall...it is all in my lap =^.^=

Yesterday I traveled to Dulles International Airport where my sister picked me up for the first day of travel to the east coast.  The flight was fine except for a bunch of crying babies.  There was empty seat next to me which made it really comfortable.  Gave me a chance to spread out with my Sun Bonnet Sue cross stitch project.  The worst part was certainly with my sister as she navigated the airport arrival area.  What a mess!

I loved what she and her DH have done with her home.  New flooring, paint, and electrical fixtures.  What a big difference for all the work they have put into it.  In the morning we headed to my parents home with a stop at CostCo along the way.  My arrival was full of hugs.

This too was my first look at the big binding project ahead of me.  Emerald Chilhowie awaited my stitching.  This was my first priority to complete since I was against the clock to have it done.

I did a bunch of getting ready for my trip, but no change to my stash stats.

Completed the Chevron Pumpkin Block of several different pumpkin blocks for my new project Kauldron.  Four blocks will be needed for this project.  It is nice to be working with small pieces.

Flying Geese Pumpkin Block is the second in the pattern book.  It also requires four blocks for the project.  This project is called Witch's Night Out by Sarah Price and Jocelyn Ueng of It's Sew Emma.  I purchased the pattern at 2020 RD2CA and the kit from Bella Rose Quilts.  It's one of my UFOs from my 2022 list.  I'm anxious to have this project done this year and not have to carry it forward another year.

This is a picture of the finished project.  I'm excited to get to sewing up the cat on the broom =^.^=

Counting down the days now of my visit East.  It was only a few months ago that I was there, but it seems like way too long.  I have a very large binding project ahead of me!  Take care my friends...all is good after Hurricane Hillary swept through our area and I am not close to the earthquake that hit Ventura County in the Los Angeles area.  My what Mother Natures has scooped up for California!

I am very excited to have the Scarecrow block done.  It was finished yesterday during all the rain and wind of Hurricane Hillary.  The buttons are here for the photo, but will be removed for the quilting process.  I still have yet to add the "straw" embellishment for his hair, hands, and feet.  Boy, oh boy did the handles of the basket give me fits.  Not sure which block is next.  I am on a roll now with Autumn Love.  A finish this year would be fantastic.

As you would know I am off on Kauldron.  Here is what parts I'm working on and tomorrow come right back to see how far I got on my favorite theme project...Halloween!

Nothing to change my stash count this week.  Just five more days of work before a break with my visit East =^.^=

Kauldron is my next sewing project to stitch.  It is a 2022 UFO.  I purchased the pattern at 2020 RD2CA so that will give you an idea how long it has been waiting for me.  This was one of the projects where I spent a couple of weeks cutting.  This is the first block of Witch's Night Out by Sarah Price and Jocelyn Ueng of It's Sew Emma.  There are many blocks to come as I move through this project.  One is a cat on a broomstick =^.^=
Working towards some hand sewing projects with Autumn Love Block 5 being prepared.  There are a few more pieces to put on my scarecrow yet; a bandana and several patches along with a few other pieces of clothing to bring the scarecrow to frighten the birds away from the corn.
Popstar has four blocks now.  It sure is a big change to go to the size of these units and then sew Kauldron which is considerably smaller units.  I'm hopeful to get two more blocks out of my scraps...

So more projects in the works.  What have you got going on?  Enjoy mid-August!

Karess (aka It Takes Two) finished over the week.  This pattern is by way of  the 2022 Cupid Box that comes as a surprise purchase from Fat Quarter Shop.  Finishing at 34" square will be the perfect February wall hanging to celebrate this time of year.  This is also a 2023 UFO finish!

I also worked on more Story Books Quilt backgrounds.  Mom has quite a few "book covers" for me when I am visiting.  Hopefully I will have enough pages to fill her books.

Another project that has been on my table this week is Popstar.  A friend of mine, Sally, made the project and shared the pattern name with me.  It happens to be a free download at Fat Quarter Shop.  Fabric selection made in patriotic fabrics really brings out the "pop" in these stars.

I plan to make as many blocks as possible from the fabrics on hand.  It is looking like perhaps six blocks.  I'll finish it off with something red to match the background, probably a solid red.  With a border should come to around 40" x 60".

So this week I have some to claim as used with the finish of Karess.  Hope your week turns out wonderful.  Just a couple of weeks before my trip East.

Here is Karess.  It Takes Two from Fat Quarter Shop 2022 Cupid Box.  All but the back came in the kit.  I only have left to sew the borders in place.

I got a bit creative with the back.  I almost had enough of the solid, but to make it a bit easier for Kerry to load, about four inches was added with the scraps and a couple of hearts like in the top did the trick.  I have more scraps from the top that will be used in a creative sleeve.  Binding in red for this project is ready to apply.

I have three more kits all cut and ready for me to sew...will it be Kauldron? Scary Faces (yet to be named)? or the December 2022 BOM win?  Maybe it should be the oldest UFO...one is 2022.  Care to take a guess?

Hope you have a great week =^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, August 6, 2023

Hanging Boo was completed during the week.  This is a 2023 UFO...yippee!  The pattern is one of several from Suzanne's Art House Fall Mug Rugs & More pattern.  The button eyes are just their with a pin so you can see what it will look like once quilted.  Imagine I had a small green button for the crows eye =^.^=.  A trip to Joann's brought home the black buttons.  I think Kaper sounds good for this project.

Mom says she has several fabrics that will work for my Story Book Quilt project.  These are two of the background and pages portions ready to be made into books.  I hope to get a few more done to take with me on my annual visit that is coming up real soon.

Since Kaper finished I moved on to Karess.  This one is a pattern by Fat Quarter Shop called It Takes Two.  This is one of several hearts the project has in it.  I will share progress tomorrow on my Design Wall.  I had hoped to finish this and add another "used" fabric to my Stash Report, but I just could not get it finished today.  This one is also a 2023 UFO.  Another 2023 UFO soon completed =^.^=

I was able to change my stash numbers a bit this week with the finish of Kaper.  I did a bit of cross stitching and embroidered the face of the scarecrow block of Autumn Love while watching TV.  Take care my friends.

Missing my brother Steve on what would have been his birthday.  Hold dear to your loved ones as you will never know when angels will come.
