Kristoff
52" x 71"
Today my day has been spent binding.  Binding, sleeves, and labels to finish Kurosity and Kristoff.  Sleeve and label to finish Kwill.  Plus several more labels that have been waiting to be printed for other projects.  You do know the cost of those nice fabric sheets =^.^=.
Kurosity

Kwill

During the week I finished the applique work for Bonnie.

The Sunshine BOM was done too.

No finishes to report yet.  I sure am anxious to see the numbers turn BLACK!  Link into Patchwork Times if you have time.

Congratulation Denver Broncos!  It was somewhat unexpected play by the Carolina Panthers in my opinion.  What did you think about the commercials and the halftime show.  Like Bruno Mars and the Doritos commercial topped them all!
Kutarug
This week I have touched on almost every project I have in work.  It is a bit hectic having so many things going on, but it is a good chaos.  I have been trimming the many HSTs that will be used in Winning Combination...which thanks to Janet O...has a "K" name.  Kutarug fits perfectly!  You will be seeing this project for quite sometime as I work on the 936 2" HSTs.

Konstellation and Krown
2016 UFO
Konstellation and Krown is my February UFO that holds top priority under the needle right now.  The start is 5" squares of two main fabrics; in my case blue and red.  Along with 5" neutrals.  Then the trim down to 4 1/2".  I am in the process of trimming down with the reds to finish.  Next comes dividing the the unit into four equal pieces which become two smaller HSTs and one each of the background and main fabric.  My sample has an error in the layout which I'll be certain to watch out for when the blocks, two different types are assembled.  (It's the white solid block in the red block upper left that should be red.)  I should have this project close to done by the weekend.
Konstitution
Konstitution Month 2 HSTs are prepared and ready for stitching.  I have several of the units sewn, with more to go.  I do love HSTs!  This project takes 720 HSTs that will be done with triangles on a roll paper.  The quantity has been divided up into three months since Kerry and I are doing this project as a BOM through the year.
Krystals
Krystals was in my hands during the Super Bowl.  I have two of the 17 snowflakes sewn down.  The snowflakes are felted wool and the thread to sew them down is perle cotton.  You can just about make out the one in the top left of the quilt.  There are two different snowflake designs.
Kurosity
50 x 62
2015 UFO
Kristoff
52 x 71
Kurosity and Kristoff came home with me from Kerry's on Saturday.  I have both trimmed down awaiting the binding that needs to be prepared yet.  Kurosity will have the black print (like the outer border) with the gray for the sleeve.  Kristoff will get red binding and the scraps will be sewn together for the sleeve.  Kristoff makes me smile...how about you?

By the way if you want any information on any of my quilts you can easily read my steps from start to completion by selecting the appropriate label on the right side bar.  I started doing this in 2016.  Any quilt that has not been completely finished you'll find a label.  Want to know about Kristoff???...just select its label and see everything Kristoff.

I have the Sunshine Quilt Guild monthly meeting to attend tomorrow night.  The program is Schools in Session.  I'll be presenting a 15 minute tutorial on several ways to make a flying geese unit.  Friday has me in a workshop with Bonnie Hunter sponsored by El Camino Quilt Guild.  I'll be at Eleanor Burns place, Quilt in a Day, for the day.  The project is Scrappy Majestic Mountains.  I plan to use a 5" HST instead of the 8" called for in the instructions.  I was in a swap where 5" HSTs were swapped...a perfect opportunity to use them!  It will be a smaller project, but I like that idea.

There are a few more projects waiting for me to get back to, but that will be another day =^.^=  Take time to see other projects going on in the sewing rooms of other quilters through the links today at Patchwork Times.

Komatose
77" x 96"
2015 UFO
Komatose is finished.  I love this quilt!  It is Lazy Sunday by Bonnie Hunter.  Yardage long ago claimed =^.^= so nothing in the stats move in either direction.  I am making progress though in the used category.  Check in tomorrow for what today's stitching accomplished.

By the way if you want any information on any of my quilts you can easily read my steps from start to completion by selecting the appropriate label on the right side bar.  Komatose has 21 including this one.  I started doing this in 2016.  Any quilt that has not been completely finished you'll find a label.  Want to know about Kompass???...just select its label and see everything Kompass.

Star and Crown pattern
52Quilts selected #9 to be worked on this month from our 2016 UFO list.  For me it is Star and Crown.  I will be making the small size 38" x 38".  This design is by Pat Speth of Nickel Quilts.  It uses charm squares cut up to give the maker correct pieces for construction.  Pat is known for her use of the charm squares.  I have taken a workshop from her in the past and made some very successful projects.  I'm looking forward to this one that I will be calling Konstellation and Krown.
Konstitution
Kanton Kull
Kalvery

I also have three BOMs to keep up with in February.  Another month of HSTs for Konstitution, a border round for Kanton Kull, and more star blocks for Kalvery.

Sunshine Quilt Guild's BOM for February needs to be stitched up before the next meeting; a week from today.  We are also having a member led School Is In Session meeting.  I'll be showing how to make Flying Geese units in several different ways.
Kaffe Kisses
I hope to get more blocks together for Kaffe Kisses, but this will come after the projects with timelines finish.

Komatose
Krystals
Kastaway
Hand sewing the binding and snowflakes of Komatose and Krystals is also on my "to do" list along with finishing the machine applique on Kastaway.

Winning Combination

And if all of that isn't enough...with my collection of bonus triangles from various past projects...lunchtime will have me trimming with my Bloc-Loc ruler 2" HSTs for another project that I recently found in American Patchwork and Quilting April Issue called Winning Combination by Tammy Vonderschmitt.  I am so excited to have the nearly 1,000 bonus triangles now with a home.  Please do help me with a "K" name for this one!

Design Wall Monday, February 1, 2016

Most of this weekend has had me sewing on Kaffe Kisses.  Sunday's block was green.  These units are the first of what is sewn together.  This photo shows the eight just trimmed up with the QCR ruler.

The next step uses the QCR ruler again to cut the setting ovals and background.  The curve sewing is next.  Surprisingly enough no pins are necessary to stitch the units together.  Last is the setting squares that make up the large four-patch.

My design wall holds all sewn units so far.  Today I have about two thirds of the blocks done.  I am still unsure how I want the layout to end.  Once all the blocks are constructed more playing around with that and then final seams and trimming of the blocks.

After dinner some hand stitching on the binding of Komatose.

Today I'm linking up with 52Quilts for the UFO Parade that happens the first day of the month and of course Patchwork Times for Design Wall Monday.  If you have time check out the inspirational work of other quilters today.

Sunday Stash Report, January 31, 2016

I have nothing to claim either way this reporting.  I am making headway on Kaffe Kisses.  Saturday found me working on the fifth color combination that is green.  I am still working out how the blocks should be set.
Orange Blocks Combination 4
Green Blocks Combination 5
Kaffe Kisses Wall
I have Kanton Kull Chapter 1 done in time for the month.  This is a project Kerry and I are working for a BOM or more appropriately Chapter of the Month as this project is described.

Also done is the binding on Krystal Kreek.  This is a Bonnie Hunter design that went together pretty fast.  One of the awesome use up scraps projects that I found possible with my stash.  Yardage has already been accounted for on this one.

It is hard to see, but the snowflakes have all been prepared with felted wool to be added to Krystals.  I will be stitching these down over the next week or so.  There are two different designs that will float around the quilt's top.  This too yardage has been accounted already.

So I close this post with nothing used and nothing gained.  I am working my way towards a finish of Kaffe Kisses.  I hope you check out more projects through the links today at Patchwork Times.

Sunday Stash Report, January 17, 2016

I have been purchasing up a storm this past week.  What fun I've had!  The great times are just starting because this weekend brings Road to California Quilt Show where lots and lots of vendors will be enticing onlookers to buy, buy, buy!  Without further ado here is what came home with me this week...

These are purchases primarily for Kalvery also know as Freedom Rings.  I have the first month nearly sewn.

There are four more 4 1/2" blocks to sew before I can say Month 1 is done.  I purchased the pattern much later than the release so finding fabrics in the collection was a bit tough.  Reds, beiges, and a blue finish off what I was lacking.  The other two charm packs will be for projects I'll be making during the year.  This fabric was purchased at Fat Quarters in Vista, CA.  I do like this shop, but it is a bit far to get to unless I do so from work.

This pattern arrived from Keepsake Quilting.  It is one of my Christmas gifts from my DH.  It has directions for three different sizes.  I'm trying to decide if I want to make the large size a bit larger so that it will fit my king size bed.  If not I'll be making the throw.

Pam Buda was Sunshine Quilt Guilds speaker on Tuesday.  She had so many things I liked and couldn't pass up.  This purchase was for a kit and pattern that made three small projects.

Pam also had a nice fat quarters collection that will come in handy with lots of projects that I plan to do stitch over the year.  And last another pattern that will come from the scraps of current projects.  I like how the middle of each start is "stringy".

Today I am stitching.  I have lots of binding to put stitch down around quilts.  Kerry has given me four of them recently.  Two are charity quilts I helped my Mom finish.

Then there is Krystal Kreek and Komatose finished.  I did just get Komatose so first up is trimming down the extra batting/back.  I have the binding ready to put down only need to ready the sleeve.

If I can get through the binding and the last four blocks of Kalvery today, I have Kanton Kull (A Prairie Gathering) Chapter 1 ready to stitch.  It took quite a while to cut all the pieces for this block, but its going to be a beauty.

Kastaway waits for me!

Hope you have a great day today and the rest of this week.  I have a workshop for another new project on Friday at Road to California.  It is going to be a busy week...  Linking up with Patchwork Times.

Kidd
28" x 28"
Sunday instead of machine sewing...I stitched the binding around each of these projects.  All of them are 2015 UFOs.  I still have the sleeves and labels to put on.
Kristmas Keepsakes
19" x 19"
Krossways
31" x 58"
This weekend I was twice the quilty winner.  My first surprise came on Friday.  I won a quilt!  During my last visit to my parents in Maryland a stop to visit a patient at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital found me in their gift shop.  A quilt was being raffled to support the hospice efforts in the area.  When I can I support fundraisers especially when the prize is a quilt.
This is the quilt I won and a close-up of the detail.  It is all pieced except perhaps the detail around the oval sections and the binding.  The quilt is in Maryland at my parents waiting for what's next.
The second win was for participation in the 2015 UFO Parade that is hosted by Aunt Marti of 52Quilts.com.  If you haven't seen October's Parade you should take a look at the sewing that's been done during the month by the talents of Aunt Marti's followers.  I'm not sure what I have coming in the mail from Colorado, but Aunt Marti tells me I'll be pleased!  Oh by the way my last two UFOs are already done...since the beginning of October I've been working on the projects that won't have a chance to make the 2016 UFO list =^.^=.

I'm planning to get back to my Design Wall to finish up my Mom's UFO this week.  Hope you are working on something fun!  Check out more projects through the links at Patchwork Times.  Enjoy your week.
