Design Wall Monday, July 1, 2013

Happy Monday and the start of the second half of 2013!  Can you believe we've already reached the halfway point?  We've been having some very hot weather in San Diego lately, but today at my home the coastal breeze was wonderful.  I'd thought the air conditioner would need to be turned on, but no!  I had every window open in my home which made it somewhat difficult to keep all the pieces of Kaskade on my Design Wall.  Now comes the time to ask you what you think of the color layout...  It is all scrappy so its easy to move things around.  I'm thinking there a couple of stars are too dark; perhaps a change of the center  is needed and that one star almost in the middle looks darker than others.  Changes coming!

This is the start of the borders.  I need to cut more of the neutral triangle.  Fortunately I'll have enough to get me all that will be needed.  I can't leave Kaskade up on my Design Wall too long...Aunt Marti of 52Quilts has selected July's UFO!  I'm off to see what is in store along with the 13 in 2013 Parade of June's UFOs.

Enjoy both shows at www.52Quilts.com and www.patchworktimes.com!

Yes, I can see that one lovely star stands out, but your planned border will take care of that. (I think, lol) I bet you wonder what you ever did without that wonderful design wall????

This is turning out very pretty! I do like that border. There seem to be two stars on the darker side next to each other. If those were spaced out (of course that is easier said than done) I think it would look great.

I love the look of this one - it reminds me of a boat ride in the Everglades :*) There are two stars in the center that are darker than the rest, but Pat Sloan told us in my recent class to use 3 of something that stands out and it will become a comfortable part of the quilt. So maybe add another dark one and move them to different parts of the quilt rather than the middle?

I, too, would space out the darker stars but I wouldn't change any of them as that is what makes it look interesting. Love the borders.

Lovely quilt; where is the pattern from?

I love this quilt. Green is my favorite color. I would space the darker stars farther apart, but I wouldn't remove them completely. Love the border, too!

Hey, I love, love the quilt. Just move those dark stars around and all will be well. Green is such a wonderful color!

Very pretty. Since your border is do dark, it might not look so bad if you have a dark focal point near the center. Just depends on how you want it to look. Either way it's going to be beautiful.

I really like it as is and think it is a very lovely quilt. Greens and stars my favorites!
