Kadence
Another complete finish!  This is a FREE pattern on Bonnie Hunter's website.  It is called Fourth of July.  I will be donating this one to a Veterans Home in Southern Maryland.  Next one to bind is Kolumbia and then the big one Kaktus.

Kaktus and Kolumbia
So my wall still has Buggy Barn birds on it.  I am anxious to get back to it, but other quilting priorities have come above it.

Krazy Kookoos
I have been getting ready for my two workshops with Bonnie Hunter.  Winston Ways and Scrap Crystals are this week at Memory Lane Quilt Shop.  There is going to be a wonderful trunk show at the Sunshine's Guild meeting tomorrow evening.  I have all my "Bonnie" quilts made since January 2012 ready to present.  As everyone at the meeting will expect I have quite a lot to share =^.^=

Winston Ways and Scrap Crystals

I am also working on my Midnight Flight Swap units.  I have one of the two neutral squares sewn on each of the 144 Unit 1s and 144 Unit 2s.  Next will be the trimming and then sewing on the remaining neutral square.  This swap isn't due until around Thanksgiving time, but that's when the new "Bonnie" mystery starts...  If you are interested in those details you can find them on her website.
Midnight Flight Swap

Now if that is not enough after this week I will be scrambling on my October UFO.  At the suggestion of my DH there has been a change of names.  Koncenteric Konnection is at the very beginning stages of assembly.  There is a lot of work yet to go...it pretty much looks like an impossibility that it will finish...but I will certainly give it a go.

Koncenteric Konnection
Until next time have a great week.  Start it off with a cup of your favorite warm beverage and see lots of other wonderful projects through the links at Patchwork Times.

I have several projects going on in my studio.  Most of them binding.  I came home from Kerry's with three of my own projects and two of hers to finish.
Krazy Kattle 2
Krazy Kattle 2 is a Buggy Barn left over blocks project that will be gifted to my Mom.  Except for the barn in the upper right corner all the blocks were too much for the original project.  Mom really likes the cows and soon she will own one of her own.
Kadence
Kadence is from a free on her website Bonnie Hunter design called Fourth of July.  This quilt is to be donated to a Veteran.  I'm thinking it will make its way to Southern Maryland.
Krazy Krones 2
Krazy Krones 2 is also from a left over block from the original project.  My Sister Karen will be the recipient of this broom stick riding witch.  I'm working to have it in her hands for decoration this Halloween.
Kerry's Orca Bay
Orca Bay and the Patriotic Mini are both Kerry's.  I offered to help her out with some hand sewing and brought these two home to finish for her.  I was able to finish the Patriotic Mini during the awesome Chargers WIN!  I've started on Orca Bay and will probably have it complete for the next time we get together.
Kerry's Patriotic Mini
As for what is on my Design Wall...it's my version of Bonnie Hunter's Zuckerwatte.  I'll be needing to find more of the inner border fabric for the bias binding or just purchase enough for both.  I want these two elements to match.  The reason for needing a bias binding, which as you know takes a little more fabric, is because once quilted the outer string border will be cut "scalloped".  I'm really looking forward to my first ever "scalloped" border experience.

Zuckerwatte (yet to be named)
Hope you have a wonderful week.  More eye candy from quilters located around the globe through the links at Patchwork Times.

Sunday Stash Report, September 28, 2014

The days of September are nearing the end.  UFO is done for the month...YIPPEE!  It has even been quilted already.  Today I'm working on the binding.  This patriotic quilt will be donated to the Veterans.  It seems just right with the pattern name "Fourth of July", the fabric selection, and the quilting design.

I've been steady working on my Zuckerwatte project.  I have all the blocks done and only a little bit of the string outer border to finish before I start final assembly.

Zuckerwatte (yet to be named)

I had a little bit of enhancement this week on Monday when three of the five fabrics arrived from Buggy Barn's going out of business sale.  I'm sure these won't stay in my stash for too long.  Part of the Buggy Barn purchase was three books.  There are some real cute designs that you'll be seeing in days ahead.

For this week my stats for the last Sunday in September.  More using their stash in fun ways through the links at Patchwork Times.

Used this week:  0 yards
Used YTD: 164.25 yards
Purchased this week:  3 yards
Purchased YTD: 143 yards
Net Fabric Used in 2014:  21.25 yards

Design Wall Monday, September 15, 2014

I have cut out the 12 1/2" squares that will be assembled for the back of Kadence.  I used all the fabrics I could find that were patriotic and added a couple of geometrics to give me the needed width and length.  I will be putting these together later tonight.
The pink strings of Zuckerwatte (yet to be named) were calling to me on Sunday.  I really do enjoy sewing the blocks.  I have most of the other pieces ready to assemble into blocks.  Only the pink strings are needed at this point.  I decided Krazy Kookoos could wait...
My Mom gave me a lot of strips while I was in Maryland, so combined with mine I have lots of variety.  Definitely the more variety the more interesting the string blocks become.  There are still a bunch more to make, but I made a good dent in the required 40.
Now it is time to square these up to 4 7/8"!

I hope you have an excellent week.  Check out other projects from quilters around the globe through the links at Patchwork Times.

Sunday Stash Report, September 14, 2014

Saturday I purchased a bit of fabric from Beveryly's in Kearny Mesa.  The star fabric as you can see below became the outer border for Kadence which is my September 2014 UFO.  I'm happy to have it done so I can get back to my Buggy Barn project Krazy Kookoos
This is the back I've assembled.  I took every possible patriotic fabric from my stash to create 12 1/2" unfinished squares.  I'll sew them all together for an entirely (except the outer border) stash buster project.
Kadence
60" x 72"
Kadence is a design FREE from Bonnie Hunter on her website called Fourth of July should you be interested in making one for yourself.  I think I'd be pleased to use up some more of my bonus HSTs on a version using 2" pieces rather than 2 1/2" pieces.  I really like the finished size of Kings where I did just that.  Kings is also a design FREE from Bonnie Hunter on her website called Playing With Jacks.
Kings
31" x 32"
So this Sunday's Stash report I have a bit to claim used and purchased.  I'm not making too much headway into my stash this year, but I'm still not adding too it!  A good thing.  See other quilters using their stash in ways different than me through the links at Patchwork Times.

Used this week:  10.25 yards
Used YTD: 164.25 yards
Purchased this week:  4.5 yards
Purchased YTD: 139.25 yards
Net Fabric Used in 2014:  25 yards

Design Wall Monday, September 8, 2014

I'm busy working on my September UFO, Kadence.  This is a Bonnie Hunter design called The Fourth of July.  Free on her www.quiltville.com website.  I'm a little be further along that what is up on my design wall.  I've run out of a patriotic blue and darn I didn't think to look through Mom's stash before I left Maryland.  Oh well, always nice to visit one of our local quilt shops!
I hear the San Diego Quilt Show was nice this year.  Thanks to my friend Kerry for dropping off and picking up my eight quilts.

It sure will be tough at work today after being off since August 28th...  Enjoy more projects through the links at www.patchworktimes.com.

Kings
aka Playing With Jacks
31"x 33"
August 2014 UFO #8

My UFO for this month was finished earlier this month.  It is a pattern by Bonnie Hunter.  It is available FREE on her website if you are interested in making it.  I made mine with leftover HSTs.  I only needed to cut new the solid red squares, inner and outer borders.  I was lucky with this one being able to use every bit (even the batting) from my stash.  Mine is smaller than what Bonnie's pattern called out.  The pattern suggests 2 1/2" squares and HST units, but I used 2" instead.

It looks like Kerry from Kerry's Quilting will have Kings for me when I get back from my vacation.  Kerry is working to have all of the Bonnie Hunter quilts quilted for when Bonnie comes to our area in early October.  (Those who follow Bonnie's schedule know that there is always a load of her projects to show her from all her admirers.)  Kerry has two of mine Kings and Kootenay Kabins and several of her own yet to quilt.  I also have a UFO in the queue for 2014 that is a Bonnie Hunter design called Fourth of July! (I'm going to call mine Kadence).  Just maybe it will be September's UFO giving Kerry yet another...  Boy am I keeping her longarm busy!
Kootenay Kabins
aka Smith Mountain Morning
So how many of you have Bonnie Hunter designs on your list of designs to make?  How many do you have?  I have at least 8, but don't get me looking at any of her patterns because I'm certain there are others not included in the 8.  And you know Bonnie hasn't stopped designing...there's that annual mystery that starts in November...

Hope you stop by 52Quilts and see more of the Twelve in 2014 on September 1st.  Aunt Marti can really put on a wonderful parade of quilts.

Design Wall Monday, June 23, 2014

I worked to have Smith Morning Mountain finished during the retreat this past weekend.  This is a two block pattern designed by Bonnie Hunter that can be found in her Scraps and Shirttails II book.  I have another 14 blocks to go of this design; pieces are cut and ready.  The other block you can see from the units and pieces in the back of the photo are ready to go, but somehow the Tri Tool ruler/template didn't make the trip to the retreat with me so no blocks could be sewn :(!

At the retreat Sue helped me by cutting out #9 UFO.  It has yet to be called out by Aunt Marti in this year's UFO Challenge.  It sure is nice being ahead of the UFO schedule.  #9 is a Bonnie Hunter design called Fourth of July.  I'll be assembling this simple project soon.

The quilters who retreated this weekend all have assignments to make a Bible block.  Several of them finished during the retreat.  Two took them home and I did the same.  I have Jacob's Tears to assemble.  Once all are finished I'll put them together, Kerry will quilt and our group will gift the retreat location with the project.  They currently have a quilt on the wall of their dining room that must be replaced!

Going to miss my Mom a bunch; she leaves on an early flight back to Maryland tomorrow morning.  Two weeks is never enough.  Our next visit will be in late August when I fly there to celebrate both Mom and Dad's Birthdays as well as their 61st anniversary.

Lots yet to see through the links of Patchwork Times.  Enjoy your week...
