Happy New Year, January 1, 2016

The last two days my Sister has had her thinking cap on...  Karen has named three quilt projects which had me stumped on a "K" name.  How's Kastaway for my current project?

I am in the process of selecting a fabric for the bow that becomes part of the tail.  Just about out of Lite Steam-a-Seam that is being used for the project.  Not sure there will be enough left to cut out remaining pieces before needing to make a LQS run.  If there is enough after the bow the face is next.  Wait till you see the expression on this glamour kitty!

Of the more time consuming parts was the tracing of the pattern and the tracing onto the Steam-a-Seam.  I'll be using invisible machine applique to secure the pieces for good.  Well if truth be told the entire project is time consuming...down to the selection of her jewelry.  This design is from Paula Ashworth Lewis (plstudio@live.com) in the Catnip Trip series called Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.  It should finish at 35" x 36".

Karen also dreamed up Karduus and Krosscheck for two yet to be named 2016 UFOs #3 Desert Nine-Patch and #12 Tackle Box Mini.  You can see the two projects HERE.  When I get as far as I can with Kastaway what remains of Bonnie Hunter's Allietare 2015 Winter Mystery will be in front of me.  I just love the design revealed yesterday.
If you find you have time check out the last 2015 UFO Parade at 52quilts.com.

Until next time....=^.^=

Happy Anniversary to my brother and sister-in-law.  What a special New Years Eve event it was not too long ago.

Kastaway is very cute--and a great name. You should keep your sister on the payroll. : )

Kastaway is coming along fine. Glad that you took a break from regular piecing of blocks to something a little different. It will be a winner when finished. colors are super, can't wait to see the next posting.

Kastaway, yes, up up and away, that name is perfect. Lots of fiddly steam-a-seam there. We have rain, glorious rain, and temps so cool I can sew!!!
