Sunday Stash Report, January 1, 2023

I hope your New Year is wonderful!  I will start out with a completion although I will not count the used since it is so small and in 2022.  This is the Sunshine BOM coordinated by Pam.  I have already made a spool quilt so I wish the participants good luck in January.  I think this one was picked up to make by lots of the members who attended the December 2022 meeting.  I thought about using the Aurifil Threads spools that are orange, but instead went with a more traditional brown.  I like the purple threads.

I have been stitching up a storm this week on the commissioned baby quilt.  I started off with fabrics I thought might work, but then most of the pieces were too small so away I went to visit Rosie!  I picked up about five yards worth, a little bit for two other projects.  I do not need to count towards my purchased because, YEAH, they were purchased in 2022 and this Stash Report starts off in 2023 =^.^=  I am using Stars of the Forest 15" blocks that are Woodland Animals which the mom to be wanted.  More on this tomorrow...

I did finish the piecing of O Say...Can You Sew!  The backing and outer border fabric is on its way from Hancock of Paducah.  It is a lot of fabric to claim so it will come soon in time for next Stash Report I am pretty sure.

Chilhowie is waiting for the next part release on Friday.  All up to date with the three blocks that I have sewn to see how it might work for another commissioned California King wedding quilt.  Right now it looks like a few changes are going to be necessary.

Saturday these arrived from Kerry.  Thanks Kerry for all your donations of quilting!  All charity quilts that need the next step, binding.  You know how much I love binding.  DH queue up the movies!

Design Wall Monday, May 23, 2022

Karre is finished (Carre is a type of tulip).  This was from a Sunshine Quilt Guild BOM Win.  I won the blocks Hallie coordinated.  To balance out all the colors and make it a nice size I added the two purples.  It is quilted with the cutest bee pattern in pastel thread.

Also done is Julie's Flower block.  This is May's BOM.  Julie supplied the green and neutral pieces.  Participants were to add a 4 1/2" flower square.

Still binding today.  Katching Kluckers is what's being sewn.  192" around, label, and sleeve.  I also have a very funny caption sewn to the back.  Need to look for three small black buttons for the turkey eyes.

Hope your week ahead is awesome=^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, February 20, 2022

Let's start with the finishes!  This one is the oldest, Karryon, a 2021 UFO.  I just love how it turned out.  I had it mostly finished a week ago, but was delayed by not having enough fabric to finish the top and bottom borders.

Well the fabric arrived on Saturday YIPPEE!  I cut the desired length and width, lastly sewed into place.  The backing that will be gray fabric with a bit of movement left over from a former project fit just perfect for Karryon.  I will likely use the same gray or perhaps a bright red for the binding.

Kyushu, the first 2022 UFO to finish!  This is Bonnie Hunter's 2021 Winter Mystery.  I changed out the pink for salmon/orange fabrics.  I really like the end result!  Aqua will be for the binding, unfortunately not what was used in the 1/2" finished sashing because I don't have any more to make it around the smaller than the original design.  I did use a backing fabric that is likely one of the oldest yardage pieces in my stash.  Happy for for it to be used after maybe 10 years.

I also finished Sunshine's February BOM.  I liked it so much that I decided to make a smaller version.  Then there were three! Now what?

As long as I'm shrinking things down...this will be one of the next projects to work on.  Sweet Apple started from my Mom's quilt guild then made it to Sunshine's September BOM that I coordinated.  I wanted to make several of these blocks into a small wall hanging.  The pattern has been staring me down since September!  I've pulled the reds and browns for it from my strip stash and will add the greens not used from the shamrock project to put it together.  While I'm at it I also pulled reds to make two Be Mine projects.  One the full size for my niece and the other smaller for myself.

Another project that is coming along is the Sunshine October BOM Win.  I have been waiting for space on my Design Wall to find a complimentary setting to use.  That being said I made a few more pumpkin blocks with more oranges and greens coming from my strip stash.

I told you I was building up for Acorn Soup project.  The fabrics started arriving last week with just one more to be delivered.  These fabrics are hard to come by as the Squirrelly Girl line has been out for sometime.

This is what I have right now.  It is an applique project with the finished acorn block being 6".  I want to get one of the darker browns used in the project and then along with what I have can pull more fabrics from my stash to give the project a good variety.

Next up came back from Kerry.  I didn't make the top.  It was a project made long ago by a friend of a friend's mother I believe (Christy?).  I provided the back and Kerry did her magic!  The center was a bit difficult during the quilting process, but you'd never know it.  These photos are of it trimmed down.  I'll be headed to Rosie's to find an appropriate binding fabric; both Kerry and I think that red would be a nice compliment.

Along with the Lonestar quilt came shared fabrics from a basket Kerry won years back from Sunshine (or it could have been an auction).  We will both be making this table runner called Turkey Trot.

Have quite a bit of change to my counts...and it certainly is about time!  Out of the negative and on to more positive counts.

During the week I also got a couple of new Alley Cat figurines...  I have quite a collection going!  I just love these sexy cats by Margaret Le Van.

Sunday Stash Report, January 30, 3022

I started out the week with just two of the six cars for Karryon complete.

During the week I did a lot of cutting of pieces to make the rest.  This is the start of a second red and the finish of a yellow car.  I am not thrilled with the second red fabric because it may just be too light with the other three bolder fabrics all ready in the project.

Here is a look at what is done so far.  Sorry for the business of the photo.  I still have Kyushu taking up the majority of my Design Wall.  The last of the trees blocks were finished too.  There are only four tree blocks in the project.

Rosie's was a necessary stop to pick up just a little bit of fabric to finish off the remaining cars.  Like my stash, Rosie's did not have much to offer in the way of wordy fabric that could be used for the accent on the cars.  The top and bottom wordy fabrics will be used for sure.  Still debating on the middle one; likely it will be used for the less bold red and the new red will take it's accent.  Sorry probably confused you on this=^.^=  The bottom gold is a fail that won't be used.  From the black up will all be used.  There will hopefully be more to see on my Design Wall tomorrow.

The specialty ruler arrived and Sunshine January BOM was assembled.  I do like this ruler as it offers a very easy perfectly measured log cabin block.  Using this ruler you sew oversized strips and trim them up as you build the block.  I am happy to have learned about it.

So there is a bit of an add this week.  If DH hadn't driven I would have enjoyed a bit more time in Rosie's, but I got what I needed for now.

Kyushu is on my Design Wall today...still.  As I mentioned yesterday I'm all in on Koastline.  Not sure when I'll get back to Kyushu.  I am not that far away from the end!

I got started on my Sunshine January BOM.  I thought it was a simple Log Cabin design, but no.  There is a specialty ruler by Creative Grids that sounds to be useful for multiple reasons, especially the making of this block.  I've ordered it from Fat Quarter Quilt Shop.  When it comes in I will get this block done.

I have also cut out the next two blocks for Karryon.  This one will be a red car.  DH will enjoy the accent on this car.

There are two quilts (Krafter and Katcher) ready for me to hand stitch the binding, sleeve, and label in place.  Oh just too much to do that I want done NOW=^.^=

Sunday Stash Report, December 5, 2021

I have Lori Holt's Autumn Love's Basket block completely done.  Week 4 of this project consists of pieced blocks.  There are 28 4 1/2" star blocks, four 10 1/2" Harvest blocks, and the wordy AUTUMN Block that will measure 6 1/2" x 26 1/2".  I hope to get to the cutting of this one during the week.  There is a lot to this segment of the project, but it should go quick once it is cut.

I also took a short detour to sew up Sunshine Quilt Guild's November BOM coordinated by Teresa.  Teresa supplied the four colored squares that run across the diagonal.

I finished Bonnie Hunter's Rhododendron Trail Part 1.  This annual mystery that quilters around globe are so thrilled to get free from Bonnie starts on Black Friday and usually lasts through the start of the New Year.  Here's the Introductory that lists the fabrics you'll need.  I have decided to change the pinks for salmon-oranges.  Salmon-oranges will look much nicer with my décor.  It isn't too late to get started.  The scrappy project can move fabrics in your stash to the tune of 25 yards usually if you make the queen size projects that she usually designs in her mysteries.

Part 2 was finished also so now I am on schedule for Part 3 that will be released on December 12th.

Nothing changes my stash numbers this week.  I have the next 2021 UFO that will be worked on my sewing table and Michigan ready for applique placement on my dining room table.  Check me out on my Design Wall Monday post tomorrow for glimpses at these two projects.

Sunday Stash Report, September 12, 2021

Happy Sunday!  It is half time on the first Sunday of NFL football.  Watching the Chargers and the Washington Football Team (will they ever decide on a name?) face off in a game that so far looks ALL Chargers!

My Stash Report brings in more for Vintage Christmas BOM that I believe might be its last installment from Stitchin Heaven.  I am still only sewn through Month 1...darn it.  This time it is Month #8 that includes the sashings and cornerstones.

I am putting my effort into Fit To Frame, 2019 UFO, and Kofi, 2021 UFO.  Fit To Frame needs a name for those who might have one to suggest.  Ten of the 12 blocks are done now with the latest finish of Block 10 (bottom left).  This one has to be my favorite.  I am already on to Block 7, but we'll leave more information on it for tomorrow.

Kofi's piecing is done.  I never could figure out the corners so solid black fabric will suffice and really it does look correct.  I have to sew the units together and hope that my pieced border will fit.  It shouldn't be too hard to correct if it doesn't.  I never heard from Anelie Belden the quilt's designer.  I sure hope she's okay.

The last of my sewing this week has been to make a sample and create the instructions for Sweet Apple block.  I was introduced to this block at my Mom's Quilter's By the Bay Quilt Guild meeting.  My Sunshine Quilt Guild was needing a member to pick up September BOM coordinator.  So this fit right in; easy-peasy.  It makes into such a cute wall hanging or quilt whether it be for a teacher, a friend, or yourself.

As you can see I have been pretty busy since returning from Maryland/Virginia a week ago.  It was a wonderful trip!  I had the opportunity to see all of my family in the area.  Austin has a brilliant new job.  Greyson is such a cutie!  Matt is healing well.  Karen, Scott, Tiffany, Mom and Dad are all doing well.  Puzzles, QBB Monthly meeting and a visit to the Pinkerton farm were the best.  Two dinners out to celebrate birthdays.  Oh my what a time.  Only bad part was not being able to holler BINGO on two separate nights trying (both Karen and Mom did).  I was even thrilled with all the weather which thankfully took place when we didn't have to be out in it.  Ida was in the area, but our part of the woods saw mostly wind, lightening, and thunder (on both sides of the hurricane).  I timed it right flying in and out before all the storms.  My flights were packed full of delays and people, but we will leave this discussion for another time!

Not quite ready to spin the numbers.  Getting closer to a 2019 and 2021 UFO finish that is near.

Sunday Stash Report, March 21, 2021

Let's start with an add to my stash.  These two fabrics came from RebsFabStash.com  They were both clearance fabrics and to resist would be silly!  The French Bull Dogs isn't a usual draw for me, but it will make a nice neutral when the time comes :)  The Tossed Fish by Riley Blake is perfect for a pink for my projects =^.^=

Several things have been sewn and added to my projects.  First up is the Sunshine BOM for March.  Marilyn made kits for these and I have made two.  This should be a nice project when I WIN!

I received a gift from Kerry to add to the growing 2021 UFO #4.  I will, I will, I will...make up these ornaments before decorating my Christmas tree this year.  Thanks Kerry!

I was a bit chinchy with the backing for my #1 2021 Sunshine Challenge that was sent to Kerry for quilting.  This is less just about 1/4" trimmed off.  Kerry did say she was a bit generous with how she attached the backing to her quilting machine, but my word!  I promised not to get so tiny in the future.

The one completion this week is #1 2021 Sunshine Challenge.  It is a smaller version of Star Struck by Jenny Doan.  She has a YouTube tutorial if you are interested in making one for yourself.  All scraps here including the back that is 10" squares.

Kerry has in the mail to me the Bunny quilt for Greyson and the Springtime Bunny table runner for Mom.  I should get both of these early this week.  So some add this week.  I don't seem to be making ground using my stash.  I need another big project =^.^= There are other things going on that I'll share with you tomorrow.  Sunny Side Up is in full swing and so is Kandy Katz (Candy Cats).

Sunday Stash Report, January 17, 2021

I have the heart done and off to Lorna for Sunshine's BOM January offering.  This one was coordinated by Carolyn.  I started off with just three scraps from my strip stash.  I'm always low on reds.

During the week this FQ bundle arrived from Missouri Star Quilts.  I already have a plan for five of these FQs.  The table runner that unfortunately will not be ready for Valentine's Day this year.  On the bright side it will be early for next year!

Not too much going on this week due to being assistant painter to DH while he painted some parts of the exterior of our home.  We really like how it has turned out.

Adds to my stash this week include the two gray fabrics I already shared with you and these lush reds.  There is still more fabric on the way...I better get something finished soon =^.^=
